Yi Luowa reluctantly sat next to him. "If it's a secret, I don't want to hear it. I always feel like there are too many secrets in your family that can't be told."
"It used to be a secret, but after Xia Wu repealed a law, it's not much of a secret anymore." Tong Airui pulled her down to lie beside him. The two lay on their sides, facing each other. "My sister is the child of my uncle and aunt. But when my aunt gave birth to my sister, she and my uncle weren't married yet. Xia Wu had a law stating that royal women who had children out of wedlock would be punished with execution. My dad saved my aunt's life by claiming publicly that my sister was his kid."
Yi Luowa blinked. "They don't kill people over this now, do they?"
"Not anymore. The first thing my dad did after he came into power was spend two years repealing that law."
"Thank goodness." Yi Luowa patted her chest in relief.
