Chapter 120 - CHAPTER 119

119 Smiles from Star Troopers! Good People (Fourth More)

Xiaoya reacted quickly, not only devising a counter-strategy but also factoring in weather effects and potential counterattacks—all in one smooth motion.

Unfortunately, they had still underestimated Haxorus's sheer power.

The opposing team had structured their strategy around a four-support, one-attack formation, where the four assisting Pokémon were entirely dedicated to amplifying Haxorus's offensive capabilities.

Although First Impression did minimal damage to Vileplume, it was countered by Strength Sap, which drained Haxorus's energy while lowering its Attack.

However, before they could capitalize on this, a melodious Heal Bell rang across the battlefield.

"Haxorus's Status Condition was removed!"

Xiaoya's eyes narrowed. A well-planned debuff strategy was useless if the opponent had a dedicated cleric to counteract it.

And then, another move was used

"Help!"

A golden aura surged over Haxorus as its Iron Tail glowed bright silver, smashing down with overwhelming force.

Bang!

Vileplume reeled from the impact. Even with Reflect softening the blow, the sheer force sent it flying.

Li Yunhao smirked slightly. "Grass-types are annoying, but they won't hold up for long."

"Vine Whip!"

Several vines lashed out, wrapping around Haxorus to restrict its movements.

But Li Yunhao's teammates weren't idle. Even though they ran a four-support strategy, their Pokémon were no pushovers.

Each of the four trainers commanded Elite-level Pokémon, and as Xiaoya's team focused too much on Haxorus, these other Pokémon went on the offensive.

Xiaoya's team found themselves in a desperate situation.

She had no choice but to split her Pokémon to deal with the onslaught.

That was the opening Haxorus needed.

After a single Swords Dance, it went berserk, attacking like a rampaging monster.

With its teammates covering for it, Haxorus ignored the Life Orb recoil entirely, unleashing relentless Close Combat strikes with devastating power.

Xiaoya sighed.

Her Meganium was still in excellent condition. She even felt confident in its ability to fight Haxorus one-on-one.

But seeing her teammates struggling, she knew the match was over.

"That Haxorus hasn't even used Outrage yet."

Her thoughts were proven right.

Three minutes later, all of her teammates had fallen, leaving her alone against three Pokémon.

She had knocked out two on the opposing side, but Haxorus though slightly battered was still standing strong after multiple recoveries.

She clenched her fists.

There was no chance of victory.

"I surrender."

If she pushed forward, she could take down at least one maybe even two more Pokémon.

But it wasn't worth risking serious injuries to Meganium.

She cared too much about her Pokémon to let that happen.

With Xiaoya's surrender, Yurong Gym was officially eliminated from the semifinals.

The audience erupted into cheers.

But not everyone was satisfied.

"If only Yurong Gym had won."

Some fans sighed, disappointed that the hometown team had been knocked out.

The pseudo-final they had anticipated had ended earlier than expected.

Many spectators even got up to leave.

However, they hesitated when they saw the upcoming match.

Another seeded team was about to compete.

They decided to stay.

The Second Match—Total Domination

Just as expected, the second match was a complete one-sided beatdown.

The Petalburg University Amateur Team was exactly what their name suggested amateurs.

Their battle style was completely uncoordinated.

Each team member locked onto an opponent at the start and fought as if it were a solo match, ignoring their teammates.

Even if they won their respective fights, they wouldn't help one another.

Their strategy or lack of one was glaringly obvious.

But oddly enough, the audience still enjoyed it.

Each of their Pokémon specialized in one-on-one combat, making for some intense battles.

The scene was chaotic but oddly mesmerizing.

Instead of a standard team battle, it looked like five simultaneous duels taking place on the same field.

At the end of the match, spectators murmured among themselves

"That was… surprisingly entertaining."

In the VIP box, the high-ranking officials were left speechless.

"Having raw strength really does mean you can do whatever you want."

One of them sighed in admiration.

They weren't wrong.

The five members of the amateur team had the sheer strength to get away with such reckless tactics.

Had they been any weaker, their lack of teamwork would have led to instant defeat.

But with their fight over, the audience began to get up and leave.

They weren't interested in watching a non-seeded team like Qin Yun's.

The Third Match—Unexpected Reactions

"The third match begins! Trainers, please take your positions!"

Nearly half of the audience stood up, ready to leave.

Qin Yun chuckled.

"Looks like we're not very popular."

Ma Tao snorted.

"Boss, it's not that we're unpopular… it's that they think we're weak."

Everyone on their team glared at him.

Qin Yun rolled his eyes.

"Thanks for the brutal honesty, Ma Tao."

On the other side, the opposing team—the Star Troopers—smiled brightly.

Their captain stepped forward, grinning from ear to ear.

"It's a pleasure to battle you!"

The rest of his team beamed with genuine excitement.

They were truly happy to face Qin Yun's team.

Or rather

They were happy because they thought this match would be an easy win.

Qin Yun smiled back.

"I'm happy too."

They shook hands, stepping onto their battle platforms.

Ma Tao raised an eyebrow.

"Boss, the Star Troopers seem like nice guys. They're really enthusiastic."

Zhang Haochen nodded.

"Yeah! Their smiles look so sincere."

Qin Yun couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry.

"Are you two dense? They're happy because they think we're an easy win."

Ma Tao sighed dramatically.

"Exactly! They see us as a free ticket to the semifinals."

Zhang Haochen blinked.

"Oh… wait WHAT?!

His eyes widened in realization.

"Those bastards! They're underestimating us!"

He clenched his fists in frustration.

Qin Yun smirked.

"That's the spirit. Let's show them what we can do."

Ma Tao cracked his knuckles.

"Yeah. Time to wipe those smug smiles off their faces."

But Qin Yun remained calm.

He actually liked the Star Troopers.

Their energy, their confidence—it was refreshing.

They weren't bad people.

And unlike some teams, they played fair.

But that didn't mean Qin Yun was going to let them win.

He narrowed his eyes.

"They're strong. Especially the twins. Their Pokémon have insane synergy."

He glanced at his teammates.

"If we're not careful, they could tear us apart."

The real battle was about to begin.
