Chapter 200 - Chapter 200: Visions of Prophecy

"What?" Harry leaned closer and peered into the crystal ball, which was full of mist. He couldn't see anything. "All I see is a big cloud of fog—"

"Cohen, don't let her rub off on you..." Hermione said to Cohen with a touch of exasperation.

Can't the others see it?

Cohen thought his prophecies would be like the one from the Horned Serpent – because anyone could see the future in the jewel on its head, though the number and frequency of glimpses into the future would vary.

"That's not right..."

Cohen suddenly had a feeling.

He grabbed Harry and Hermione's hands.

"Now?"

To Harry and Hermione's astonishment, after Cohen suddenly grabbed their hands, the crystal ball did indeed change – the mist was pushed to the edges, and a dark image appeared in the center.

"This is—" Hermione's eyes widened.

"Is it a prophecy?" Harry asked, watching the Dementor inside, his heart pounding in his chest.

"What did you guys see?" Ron asked, as he was sitting further away, and Cohen only had two hands, so he couldn't see the image in the crystal ball.

"What's going on, children?" Trelawney noticed the commotion and saw the three of them staring at the crystal ball with horrified expressions, so she quickly came over. "Oh... the prophecy of the crystal ball, I see... a woman in great pain..."

"A woman?" Cohen released Harry and Hermione's hands.

"A terrible future – child, your inner eye is far more sensitive than others..." Trelawney said, taking Cohen's hand with pity, as if comforting an injured person. "Those with a clear inner eye always have a tragic destiny..."

"I actually feel fine..." Cohen pulled his hand back.

Trelawney's incorrect guess made Hermione completely distrust the professor – but Cohen's situation made her and Harry very curious.

They had just seen the future in the crystal ball because of Cohen, which wasn't a common occurrence even in the wizarding world.

"I'll tell you later after class," Cohen whispered.

Because the system had just given him a new notification.

[Ding! Special ability unlocked: Revelation (8/10)]

The ability to make prophecies, and also to allow people in physical contact with him to see them – no wonder the system didn't react when he made a prophecy last time.

But the prophecy ability he discovered last year wasn't anything new. Cohen was more curious about why Fudge would be in Dumbledore's office with a Dementor, killing Sirius.

Dumbledore, Cohen, Harry, Lupin... surely at least one of them would step in to help?

It wasn't clear if the future could be changed, but regardless, Cohen planned to give those Dementors a heads-up first.

Even if Cohen wasn't involved, the plot shouldn't play out like this.

For the rest of the class, Trelawney asked them to read tea leaves – Harry got a Grim, and Cohen got a Dementor – though it looked more like a mountain with a ball on top.

Trelawney interpreted the shape in Harry's tea leaves as "the Grim," and Cohen's as a fallen sun, both of which were bad omens – especially the Grim, which, except for Harry, Hermione, and Cohen, made almost everyone think Harry would die soon.

"I think the tea leaves just have really bad resolution," Cohen commented on the topic of tea leaf reading after class. "My tea leaves felt more like a Dementor anyway."

"We did see a big black dog, though, didn't we?" Harry said suddenly. "Cohen, remember? When I left the Dursleys', there was a black dog barking at us."

Ron stopped dead in his tracks, looking terrified.

"What's wrong, Ron?" Hermione asked, looking at him strangely.

"Hermione! If Harry saw the Grim, that's bad news!" Ron said fearfully. "My Uncle Bilius saw one, and – and he died twenty-four hours later!"

"I saw it too," Cohen said, patting Ron on the shoulder. "But my tea leaves weren't the same as Harry's, so this 'Grim' thing is just superstition."

"I think Cohen's right," Hermione nodded. "Besides, Professor Trelawney was clearly faking it the whole time. She didn't even guess what we saw in the crystal ball correctly."

"Yeah, you guys haven't even said what you saw in the crystal ball during class," Ron said. "Aren't we not supposed to start crystal ball gazing yet? And why could you both see it, but I couldn't...?"

"Because I only have two hands, Ron," Cohen said. "I can't exactly hook you with my foot under the table, can I? That'd be a bit much."

"I saw a Dementor in the crystal ball. Is that what you guys saw too?" Harry asked Hermione and Cohen.

"Not just a Dementor, there were two living people too," Hermione said. "One looked like a vagrant, and the other was wearing wizard robes and was kind of chubby."

"It was Sirius Black and the Minister of Magic, Fudge," Cohen said. "They were in Dumbledore's office, and the Dementor had its hood off, about to suck Sirius Black's soul."

The newest novels are first released here!

"Isn't that a good thing?" Ron said. "I mean, if this magical stuff is a prophecy, then it means Sirius will get caught in the future and then, you know... get what's coming to him."

"It is a good thing, but the scene was still really creepy..." Hermione shivered.

"..."

Harry had a strange feeling – he should be happy, but he felt a little uneasy.

"If Professor Trelawney is right and divination is mostly about talent," Hermione said, thinking Harry was still worried about the Grim, "then Cohen would actually be a better Divination professor than her because Cohen made a real prophecy with magic involved, while she's just a flaky fraud."

"So, Professor Norton, when are you gonna let me see the future too?" Ron asked Cohen eagerly. "I wanna see if I become Head Boy!"

"You think I'm the Horned Serpent now?" Cohen replied casually. "This kind of thing just happens every now and then – like seeing the future in a crystal ball. I can't really control it. The last time it happened was last Christmas when I saw a thief stealing something in the crystal ball."

Cohen's casualness was because he had just noticed another strange phenomenon with Harry.

A trace of emotion had just appeared on Harry that didn't belong to Harry or the Voldemort fragment.

An emotion of sadness – like it came from... Lily.

Why would Lily's emotions appear on Harry now?

What exactly was it about the sacrificial protection spell Harry's mother used that protected Harry's soul?
