She watched for a few seconds.
Then she dropped.
Her first strike landed cleanly, her blade slipping between ribs and twisting. She rolled with the body, dodged another attack, and pivoted, taking out a second with a clean sweep.
By the time the fourth creature lunged, she was already past it.
The students stared, wide-eyed.
"Go," she said.
They didn't argue.
Not far from there, Everly stood at the center of a scorched patch of dirt.
Her spear dripped blood.
Around her, six beasts lay dead. Their bodies twitched, but they weren't getting back up.
She wiped her spear off on the grass again and turned to the two students hiding behind a rock.
"Don't die," she said, voice flat.
They nodded.
"Good."
She nodded at their response before she kept walking to find the next target.
As the sun started to rise higher, the zone changed again.
