Chapter 64 - Purge the Queen

"Give *pant* Me *gasp* A *wheeze* Moment." (Kyle)

Kyle had burst through the front door, arriving in the living room where everyone was seated and doing their things.

"Okay... Your moment is up, what is going on?" (Justin)

Pretending to look at a watch, Justin jokingly asked his question, not long after saying Okay. It was all in jest, but the concerned look on Kyle's face set all of them on edge. Taking it in stride, Kyle finally caught his breath and spoke in a clear, serious tone.

"I found where the monsters are originating from, and we have to head out soon. Have you seen Mothers of Monsters or the spin-off?" (Kyle)

"I don't see your point, but yes." (Justin)

"Well, pretty much we have a queen monster that makes monster amalgamations by consuming random body parts brought to her by said monster amalgamations, just like the one that you guys had me follow. The army is growing daily, and we must kill the queen." (Kyle)

"I understood none of that but all of that at the same time." (Anna)

"Fair point, but you get the gist of it, right?" (Kyle)

"Monster mother is making more monsters to bring more body parts to have even more monsters." (Anna)

"Exactly that." (Kyle)

"Gross." (Anna, Mark)

"So a boss fight?" (Greyson)

It didn't take long for them to get equipped and ready to leave. Kyle was eager to have real food, so he spent time eating the pre-prepared lunch that Anna had made. Soon, they were all ready, and while the others were dressed in armor, Anna was dressed as warmly as possible. Knowing herself, she is more likely to freeze to death than to make it there in perfect condition.

"Okay, so Kyle, lead the way." (Justin)

Shadows were enthralled, enchanted in their movements as monsters' steps clamored through the trees. They were quiet as can be or as they could manage—the crunching of snow, the snapping of branches, the clattering of the woods. Kyle is the only one in their group who does not make any real noise due to his skills. Soon, one sensation overpowered them, from their thoughts to their actions. Rot is like moldy meat or spoiled milk. It was stomach-turning, smelling so bad they could nearly taste it. It wasn't long before they saw why. Rotting flesh, broken, shredded, and crushed corpses littered the ditch of what was once probably a scenic creek, a walking path that could be spotted just above the view. The sound of a gagging dog emanated from a couple of monsters as they vomited slime-coated pieces of flesh. Some of the meat on the ground leaked vile green, purple, and orange as it was decaying. Somebody's parts had mold, and others were still dripping fresh blood. If it were spring or summer, this area would be surrounded by the sound of insects trying to make their way into the rotting feast. None of us could handle it, from seeing the sight before them to being able to taste the decay on their tongues, they all vomited whatever they had consumed before arriving. Justin whispered to Kyle in a tone they could barely hear themselves.

"Next time, a little warning or advice would be great." (Justin)

Anna couldn't take being able to taste what they were smelling and went through her invitory finding Resporator masks. Putting one on herself she handed it to the others. Being able to breathe in and not have to deal with tasting the air all of them were desperate to have one on their face as well.
