Back at the Pokémon Center, Silas first headed to the guest room department and spoke to one of the Nurse Joys there, extending his stay to a total of 40 days.
While his Pokémon were still recovering with Nurse Joy, he took the opportunity to retrieve several of his packages, transferring them one by one from his storage backpack into his room.
Even though the high-tech space backpack could reduce the weight of objects to some degree and make them easier to carry and thanks to his long-term physical training, Silas was confident he could punch out any heavyweight champion from his previous life those stones worth eight million still took him four or five trips to move completely.
After finishing that, he thanked Nurse Joy as usual and retrieved the Poké Balls containing his three fully recovered Pokémon.
He brought them back to his room, and before he could even sit down for a short rest, he began preparing dinner for all three Pokémon.
The recipe proportions for Roggenrola had to change slightly depending on the different rock types included at night, but overall, his was the simplest.
As for Combusken, he needed to reduce a portion of the energy cube supply and replace it with a salad made from different Berries to prevent it from getting tired of the taste. Some of the Chople Berries also needed to be swapped out for Ganlon Berries, and their proportions recalculated. The seasonings had to be adjusted too.
Based on its afternoon training, Pidgeot's original Figy Berry and Sitrus Berry recipe needed to be adjusted in ratio, with changes made to the supporting ingredients as well. Bone meal and vitamins also had to be added.
To be honest, if it weren't for Zero organizing everything, Silas would still be able to manage all of this, but it would've been way harder and much more mentally draining not to mention nowhere near as thorough.
By the time he was finished, another hour had passed. Silas finally called over the three Pokémon, who were already lined up and staring at him eagerly, to come and eat.
With their Trainer's approval, the three of them each a different size zoomed over to their custom final-evolution-style food bowls and began eating at lightning speed.
Silas still couldn't rest yet, though. He had to do a quick health check on Roggenrola and Combusken to make sure they didn't suffer any unnoticed injuries from the afternoon's battles.
Even though Nurse Joy had already healed them, Silas wouldn't feel at ease until he'd checked them himself.
He circled around the two small Pokémon, who were too focused on their meals to notice, carefully observing things like the condition of Roggenrola's core and body connections, the muscle definition in Combusken's legs, the development of the three crests on its head, and other critical areas.
Combining this with the diagnostic report from Zero, he was finally reassured that everything was fine.
Only then did Silas sit down to eat his own dinner.
Tonight's meal was provided by the Pokémon Center and delivered by a staff member. The dishes just had to be tossed into the designated cleaning chute afterward.
Hmm, today it was synthetic curry beef with two vegetable sides and white rice, plus a glass of hot milk that Silas had prepared himself not bad at all.
What's that? You're wondering how the milk got heated?
Take a look at Combusken's feathers over there best heating element in the house.
In a world full of Pokémon tech, who needs a stove or a microwave?
Whenever Silas wanted a cup of warm Moomoo Milk, he just had Combusken hold it against its chest for a few minutes. As a Fire-type, its body temperature was seriously high.
If Combusken weren't constantly keeping it under control, the sheer heat it emitted could roast a person.
Someday, Silas thought, he should raise an Ice-type too. That way, he wouldn't even need a fridge just a puff of breath would do.
After dumping his used dishes into the cleaning chute, Silas flopped down on the floor.
Pidgeot was already resting there, and saw its Trainer collapse onto its soft body.
It shifted its wings a bit to avoid accidentally smacking Silas, then closed its eyes again.
That training earlier had really drained it. It had been tired before, but never quite like this.
Silas rested his head lightly on Pidgeot's belly. This had been one of his dreams in his past life and now he practically got to do it every day.
Of course, if it were a Snorlax instead, it might've been even comfier. But unfortunately, he just couldn't afford to raise one. Even with things like energy cubes, Snorlax's food requirements were no joke.
Combusken lounged on the couch nearby, lazily rubbing its full belly and letting out the occasional burp. It had eaten a little too much.
Roggenrola glanced around scanning here, sensing there but, finding nothing to do, it simply hopped up onto a platform. Retracting its horns and legs, it turned into a perfectly still, dull greenish-blue rock and began resting.
Even in this form, Roggenrola remained highly alert to its surroundings. If any danger approached, it would instantly unfurl and prepare to fight or flee. Of course, within the Pokémon Center, there typically wasn't any danger. This was mainly Silas's way of helpin Roggenrola develop the habit of staying alert, just in case something happened out in the wild one day.
Silas turned on his wristwatch and put on his headphones. He hadn't finished his study tasks for the day: three research papers, two full-team battle videos to watch, a review of Chapter 3 from the Breeder Certification Exam, some additional material from Pewter Gym to study, and more.
As the moonlight quietly hung high in the sky, the hallway outside the Pokémon Center's rooms gradually fell silent.
From the outside, one room after another went dark, sinking into the same kind of deep night as the world around them.
Only a few rooms kept their lights on persistently glowing, persistently awake.
The night passed uneventfully.
Silas's body, long used to a strict biological clock, woke him up right before the sun started its daily routine.
Stretching lazily, he carefully climbed out of bed.
All three of his Pokémon woke up almost simultaneously. Roggenrola extended its horns and legs, rising from its rest. Combusken brought its claws previously tucked behind its head back in front of its chest. Pidgeot opened its eyes and tilted its head a bit, stretching.
Silas smiled at them and walked straight into the bathroom to begin his morning wash-up.
By the time he came out, the three were already moving about, stretching and getting ready for their morning warm-ups with familiar ease.
Combusken would go jogging with him while carrying weights, of course. The weighted vest he had prepared was almost at its maximum load capacity. Once Combusken evolved, it would probably need a new one yet another expense.
At this point, Silas couldn't keep up with Combusken anymore. Calling it jogging together sounded nice, but in reality, the distance Combusken covered in the morning far surpassed him.
Still, it was all about strengthening the bond between Trainer and Pokémon. Training together always resonated more deeply with Pokémon.
As for Pidgeot, it also did weighted flight training. Silas would strap on the weights and just let it take off on its own he couldn't exactly fly with it, after all.
Finally, Roggenrola obediently followed beside him. Silas had tasked it with practicing its Gravity ability and energy control.
With a snap of his fingers, Silas and his three Pokémon set out.
