Chapter 102 - Chapter 102: Divine Blood

"Second-level item: Heart-Devouring Fruit. Consuming it will induce an illusory experience, enhancing mental power. High value..."

"Second-level item: Dust from the Scales' Base. When soaked in water and purified through a complex process, it can increase mental power. Extremely high value..."

"Second-level item: Divine Blood Pellet. Directly increases mental power without the need for training. Medium value, but consuming an item containing divine blood may attract the attention of deities. Non-combat personnel should use with caution..."

Lynn's gaze swiftly swept over the options, ultimately locking onto two items, while completely ignoring the dust from the scales' base.

Eating dust? What kind of joke was that?

Not only would he have to swallow dust, but he'd also have to go through the trouble of purifying it. Worse still, its value was absurdly high this kind of low-efficiency, high-cost option was not worth considering.

Among the remaining two choices, the Heart-Devouring Fruit was undoubtedly a good option.

According to its description, it enhanced mental power through an illusory trial, making it a reasonable and highly promising method.

But the problem was it was too expensive!

If he chose the Heart-Devouring Fruit, he had no idea how many he could acquire once the balance was restored.

The Divine Blood Pellet, on the other hand, was a completely different choice.

Lynn was not unfamiliar with this item. He had come across related records back in the first level of the labyrinth:

It was said that when deities bled, their blood rained down from the heavens, and the Divine Blood Pellet was most likely refined from such blood.

It had two advantages:

Immediate effect consuming it directly enhanced mental power without requiring any trials.

Medium value meaning he could exchange for more of them, making it highly cost-effective!

As for the warning about divine scrutiny, Lynn pondered for a moment and concluded that it wouldn't affect him much practically negligible.

The world where the scales existed had experienced a great war with the deities, which was why such a warning was in place.

But in the wizarding world where Lynn resided, there were no deities at all!

"If there were deities in the wizarding world, that would be a blessing for the wizards."

Lynn chuckled, his mind conjuring up the scene of those fervent wizards

If wizards ever discovered the existence of deities, they wouldn't wait for the gods to come after them. Instead, they would take the initiative, launching an assault and even storming the divine realm to dissect and study the gods.

No one was more eager to study a real deity than wizards!

After weighing his options, Lynn didn't hesitate and locked his choice onto the Divine Blood Pellet.

"Calculate the number of pellets required to increase my mental power to forty..."

Lynn communicated with the scales using that unique language.

This extraordinary language was similar to wizard speech, yet more mysterious. Using it consumed mental power, and so far, he hadn't discovered any other uses for it.

Unlike wizard speech, which could manipulate energy factors to cast spells, this language seemed to serve only one purpose communicating with the scales.

Even though Lynn had chosen the Divine Blood Pellet, he still tested the Heart-Devouring Fruit. However, as soon as he did, a large number of the fruit appeared on the other side of the scales, immediately weighing it down.

And the quantity kept increasing clearly, its value was too high.

Lynn had no choice but to cancel the test, confirming that the Heart-Devouring Fruit was beyond his reach, and proceeded with the Divine Blood Pellet instead...

The next moment, numerous glass bottles appeared on the other side of the scales.

Inside each bottle were cherry-sized red pellets one after another.

As the Divine Blood Pellets materialized, Lynn's side of the scales rose higher and higher, while the other side sank lower and lower.

Time passed, and soon, Lynn's side even exceeded the other slightly, forcing him to take out a considerable amount of magic stones from his spatial storage to rebalance the scales.

"What the hell? I remember the scales give a tenfold bonus so why do I still need to add extra items...?"

Lynn frowned at the items on the other side of the scale.

Could it be that the Divine Blood Pellets required to increase his mental power by twelve points were so valuable that they could bridge a tenfold gap?

Or perhaps he wasn't worth much, so even with the tenfold boost, he still wasn't valuable enough?

Or maybe... something else in the trade was too precious?

Despite his doubts, Lynn still proceeded with the exchange.

A dazzling golden light shimmered as the two sides of the scales reached equilibrium just as the scales' rules dictated: equivalent exchange.

With the values balanced, the deal was sealed!

A golden flash signified the successful transaction.

As soon as the exchange was complete, the golden scales vanished abruptly, replaced by a pile of stacked glass bottles beside him.

A rough count revealed more than ten bottles, each filled with one to two hundred Divine Blood Pellets.

Lynn stored all the pellets in his spatial storage, leaving only one bottle out. He uncorked it and took out a single pellet to examine.

These Divine Blood Pellets were the size of cherries round and plump, glowing a deep red.

Anyone unaware of their true nature would likely mistake them for some kind of candy.

Even knowing that they originated from so-called "divine blood," Lynn felt no psychological burden.

To wizards, deities were merely another type of powerful lifeform.

Just like how mighty dragons were often mistaken for gods, the so-called "divine blood" might simply belong to a special species.

As he contemplated this, Lynn pinched a Divine Blood Pellet between his fingers and murmured:

"Did these deities absorb the essence of heaven and earth, causing even their blood to contain extraordinary energy? And after processing and refining it into Divine Blood Pellets, it can directly enhance mental power?"

Without further hesitation, he popped the pellet into his mouth.

The moment it touched his tongue, he was surprised by its unexpected texture it was moist and smooth, not dry at all, and even carried a faintly sweet fragrance.

As the pellet dissolved into liquid and slid down his throat, an invigorating sensation spread throughout his entire body.

Even more astonishingly, this sweetness had a mint-like quality that surged directly into his mind, causing a tingling euphoria.

For a brief moment, it felt as though his consciousness soared above the clouds, freed from all constraints, basking in absolute liberation.

After about ten seconds, the sensation gradually faded.

Lynn slowly opened his eyes and focused inward, carefully sensing his mental domain.

"There's an improvement, but it's minimal."

Frowning slightly, he murmured:

"Looks like I need to consume a large quantity of Divine Blood Pellets to achieve the desired mental power."

This realization helped him understand why Divine Blood Pellets weren't considered highly valuable.

In a world invaded by deities, these pellets were precious due to their ability to enhance mental power. But consuming too many of them would make one stand out.

On a battlefield, it was akin to carrying a beacon, practically begging for divine retribution.

Lynn sighed and swallowed a few more pellets.

As he felt his mental power increase slightly, he pulled open his robe and looked down at his chest.

Sure enough, the restrictive text that had once bound him had completely disappeared.

Lynn exhaled in relief he was finally free from the labyrinth's grasp.

He raised his head, gazing forward, and murmured:

"If I leave now, I should be able to break free completely..."

However, just as he took his first step, his expression suddenly froze.

Lynn's footsteps came to a halt, and his gaze turned sharp and cold.

"Something's wrong… It feels like… I can't leave here anymore!"
