A/N
Hello readers, I'm here to formally apologize for this mix up! This chapter was suppose to be uploaded before the last chapter, and I accidentally mixed this up while uploading last time. I only found this out when working on future chapters for this story. I'll put up a notice on the last chapter to notify readers to read this chapter first before reading the one prior. I hope you understand that mix up and hope you enjoy this chapter along with the last one. Once again, really sorry for the mix up! QAQ

I bundled myself up in, at this point my bed.
Finally, I'll have some peace and quiet. The ship is back and running, and I won't have to work anymore.
But unfortunately, the world hates me, so of course; the door swung open and the door knob hit the wall- which, I'm pretty sure, put a hole in there. And there in the doorway was the spawn of the devil.
"Hey, Minh!" she shouted in all her annoying horror.
"Phuong, do you have to disturb me every time I'm trying to relax?" I groaned, popping my head out of the covers.
"Yes," she nodded, daring to breach the threshold of my room, and sat on the edge of the bed.
"So, anyway," she started. Alright, what kind of stupid idea is it this time? "You wanna try out some magic? I still remember a few spells we could test out."
A second later I was already waiting at the door.
"Stop staring at me like a dumbass. Are we doing this or not?" I asked, notebook in hand, and promptly went out the door.
"Minh đợi em với!"
"Sau đó chạy nhanh hơn," I shot back, still walking.
But sadly, she eventually caught up with me.
I really need to start working out.
We made our way to the dock on the backside of the ship. It was a prime spot since it was almost always empty. I'd eat lunch here on my breaks. I sat on one of the crates near the railing, with Phuong standing a couple meters away from me.
"Um, Minh, I don't think this is a good idea anymore."
"It was your idea; follow through with it."
"Fine, but why are you all the way over there?!" she shouted from afar.
"For my personal safety," I explained.
"Yeah but what about my safety?"
"You'll be fine... probably."
"The fuck do you mean 'probably'?!"
"Just do the thing already."
"Fine!"
She held out her hands, recited some occultist shit, and out came the famously known fireball from DnD. Except I can't see crap, curse my near-sightedness.
"I can't see."
"Should I get closer then?" She asked
"Nope, you stay over there."
"Why?"
"Knowing you, you're going to try and set me on fire," I retorted.
"Touche," she shrugged
I knew it!
"Then what do I do with it?" she asked, holding the fireball in one hand.
I looked at my list of things to try out.
Thing number one, 'Can spells cancel each other out?'.
I looked back at Phuong, who was still standing there, surprisingly. Who knew she'd actually listen for once?
I called out, "Try using another spell to cancel it out."
"Like with a water spell?"
"Something," I shrugged, "I don't know."
She held out her other hand, "𝔚𝔄τ𝔈ρ-β𝔄λλ."
A ball of water formed in her hand.
Note to self: Phuong can supply limitless water.Although, there is the question whether it's clean water, but we'll get to that in later tests. (Probably not though)
I reached for my pocket, but there was nothing. Of all the times to forget my quill! She clapped her hands together and out came a cloud of steam.
"It worked!" she cheered, her silhouette turned back to me, "You good?"
I gave her a thumbs up.
Wait, can she see me?
After the steam cleared, Phuong's clothes were a little damp but she was overall fine.
I checked the second thing on my list, 'Combine spells'.
Probably not a good idea. We'll save that for when we're not on a flying ship.
"What should we do now?"
I shrugged, "Test out more spells?"
"Sounds good," she agreed.
She started to recite a long list of magical jargon; some of them made more fireballs, others were more showy and with no substance. Though there was a teleport one, and I found that helpful.
"ℌυρρℑℭ𝔄νε!" she shouted as a giant vortex of wind burst out from under her feet. Ah shi-
the spell hit me, sending me and flying overboard.
I looked down- why did I look down?! Curse human curiosity!
It wasn't long before I heard a familiar shout from above.
"MINH!" shouted someone above me.
Please don't be who I know it is. I looked up from my impending doom to find my sister following after me at a speedy paste. Well that just sealed my fate.
She soon grabbed a hold of me by the waist.
"What the fuck are you doing?!" I screamed
"Saving you!" she yelled back.
She tightened her grip, looked up, and screamed, "τ𝔈λ𝔈π𝔒ρ𝔗!"
Suddenly, we were above the deck and pummeled downward. I twisted around to shield Phuong from the fall, my back hitting the floor. I heard a loud crack. I held in a scream, looking down at Phuong, who was squeezing the life out of me right now.
She looked up at me, "You okay?"
"What do you think?" I groaned.
Yes, Phuong. Other than my body feeling like it's on fire, I'm completely fine.
She got off me and then got into a panic. She tried to pick me up. It didn't work, but good on her for trying. I guess.
So instead, she dragged my injured body across the ship. And as expected, it hurt like hell.
———
I lay in the infirmary bed with Phuong sitting at the bedside.
"Sorry."
"For what?"
"For getting you hurt."
"That's not your fault. We did something dumb and this is what happened."
Phuong turned to me, "No, I did something dumb."
I sighed.
Welp, time to be a brother.
I placed my hand on hers, reassuring her, "If anything, it's my fault. I pushed you to dish out more spells and that wholeheartedly blew up in my face, literally."
"But I-"
"No, stop, just let me take the blame and move on. I don't want to talk about this anymore," I interrupted, turning away.
"Okay..." Phuong said, still holding onto my hand, "I just- don't want you to die and stuff."
"And I wouldn't," I assured, "Cause if I'm going to die, I'm taking you with me."
She frowned, turning back, "And I'll kick your ass if you do."
I smiled, "Seems we've come to an agreement."
"Yeah yeah, this is what I get for feeling bad for you."
Suddenly the door to the infirmary opened and out came the same silver-haired girl I had seen on multiple occasions while working on the ship. Her name was Emily, right? She looked more like a Navis to me.
"Hey, Emily," Phuong waved, getting up.
"Sup," Emily answered, placing a small pile of books on the side table.
She came over to me, arms crossed. She turning to Phoung, she looking as pissed as ever. Though I don't recall her ever not looking pissed before, she probably had RBF, too. No judgment. She turned back to me, staring at me for a good while for some reason. Don't ask me, I'm not a doctor.
"What the hell happened to this guy?"
"Well uh, we did something dumb."
"No shit, part of his spine is fractured and his tail bone is cracked open," she retorted.
She reached out her hand and hovered it over my chest. The palm glowed a soft light, a small ball of it forming and sinking into me. I sat up, my body still hurting but I can move now.
"There should still be after- pain, so rest here for a while," She turned to Phuong, "Do you need anything?"
Phuong shook her head, "No, thank you."
"Okay... bye," Then she left.
Straight to the point and doesn't overstay her welcome. I respect that.
Phuong came up to me, still with that worried face. Stop looking at me like that.
"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked
"I'm fine, I'm not dying" I scoffed, flicking her forehead.
"Ow, fuck you."
"Fuck you too," I sneered, laying back into bed.
"Fine, be that way," she pouted, sitting down on the floor next to me.
"May you leave me be for once?"
"Never."
Spiteful as always.
Suddenly, a static voice echoed through the room, "Hello passengers, this is your captain speaking. I am happy to inform you that we are arriving at our destination. Please gather all of your belongings and prepare for departure," it announced, "First stop, The Traveling City of Maril."
Oh joy, we're finally here.
