The man stopped speaking for a few seconds before bursting out in a fit of laughter. Mia then heard him say, "Are you jealous?"
His teasing words brought two red blotches to her cheeks as she said to him, "Of course not. I just want to understand what is going on with you and what's the reason behind your actions, Mr Lucas?" Mai was not someone who would trust anyone blindly. She did not believe that Lucas was doing these things out of the goodwill of his heart.
"Always the detective, Mia." Lucas chuckled as he shook his head and said to her, "I met with your father because I thought that was the right thing to do. There is no need for you to use that sharp mind of yours on something so simple."
Though the man spoke in a light-hearted voice, Mia didn't trust his words. She pursed her lips and stated, "I am just trying to decipher your actions, Mr Lucas."
