Of course, her mother would do this; she was the kind of woman who would do absolutely anything to make sure that her precious mama boy doesn't lose his precious position as the enforcer. Which was foolish if someone asked her; Ricky was not weak enough to be kicked out of that position just because his sister ran away from the pack.

Even now, she was trying to get as much attention as she could with Inez gone. She didn't care that Inez was part siren and a latent, a combination so deadly that she might lose her life before any of them could even find her.
