Carla opened her eyes to the smell of hot tea.
"Good evening, Carla."
Carla closed her eyes again, the memory of the night before rushing back at her.
"Sir…"
"Probably another round of sex for that." He hinted.
"Damien please." Her voice was a croak.
"Please what? Want water?" He asked and came into her line of view when she opened her eyes again.
He helped her up before offering her a glass of water.
"Thank you." She took a sip when he decided to talk again.
"I didn't use protection last night. I might just as well get you to carry our baby."
"Pffttt!" The water came rushing out of Carla's mouth in a spray.
She went into a fit of cough, swatting his hand away when he wanted to pat her back.
"Stop it!"
"Tea?" He smirked instead.
The twinkle in his eyes made her uncomfortable.
"No." She wished it was Rhys standing there and staring at her, not Damien.
"Is Anna mine?" He went straight to the question, his eyes turning cold as he asked.
Carla's heart rate spiked, her hands began trembling and the water was almost about to spill when Damien took it away from her.
"Where is she?" She was about to stand up but Damien blocked her path.
"Safely tucked in her room watching some children's shows." He smiled as if expecting an applause but Carla only eyed him.
"So is Anna mine?" He lowered his face to meet with hers.
"Get out." Was the only thing Carla could say.
"So you won't answer, hmm?" The glint was back.
He stepped towards the door and locked it.
Carla turned nervous at once, her eyes darting from Damien to the door. She couldn't risk it by calling on Rhys.
"I don't want to talk about this Damien." She stared at the wall ahead of her trying to regulate her breathing.
"You don't?" He was standing right in front of her line of vision with something held before him.
"What is that?" She looked up at his face, eyes unblinking.
"A DNA result."
"For?" She could feel her ears ringing, her hands quivering but she held it in a tight fist, trying to look normal.
"Don't try to act oblivious. Why didn't you look for me?" There was pain in Damien's eyes.
Carla looked away.
"Anna is my child. My daughter." From the corner of Carla's eyes, she saw him put the paper away.
"When did you get her sample?"
"After you fell asleep last night." He came to sit beside her.
"Don't." Carla moved away, she didn't know what was the right emotion to feel so she preferred keeping a distance.
"You don't look alright." He observed.
"Maybe you shouldn't have fucked me the way you did then." She snapped back at him, the anger in her making her stomach churn but Damien was barely fazed.
"You shouldn't have gotten your tongue stuck up into some stranger's throat." He made his point known.
Carla's lips curled into a smile. It made Damien confused.
"Stranger? I would say you are the stranger here." She made to stand but everything spiraled and she fell back down.
"Stay down." He made to move her into a comfortable position but she snapped at him.
"Hell! You aren't some dog! Stop it!"
"Am I not?" She gave a painful smile that made Damien pinch the bridge of his nose.
"You'd have to move into my house. This environment is not conducive for you and for our daughter." Damien blurted out instead and the boiling rage in Carla shook her into a sitting position.
She stared into Damien's eyes as he stared into hers. She was shaking with anger while Damien just watched as if knowing she was going to blow off anytime soon.
"You slept all night and all day. You need to…"
"Fuck you!" Carla screamed with all her might and fell back to the bed, folded her hands over her chest to stop the tremble and not wanting to see Damien's face, she shut her eyes tightly.
"I'd go check up on Anna and get you something to eat." Damien continued.
"You don't need to come over to my house if you don't want to, I don't mind moving into yours." He declared and Carla's blazingly red eyes snapped open ready to hurl some curses at Damien but Damien was out of the door before she could say anything.
"Rhys?" Her shaky voice called, her body rocking tru and fro. It felt like her head was a merge of splinters.
"Here." Rhys' familiar voice broke her off her spell.
"Rhys?" Her voice was a careful sound as not to alert Damien.
She looked up at him and blinked when she saw his frosty face. Her throat ran dry when his eyes scanned her body.
"Did you enjoy his dick in you that much?" His mean eyes caught hers and her restraint broke.
Covering her face with her hands, she bawled into it half expecting him to soothe her but he just stood there like her emotions had nothing to do with him.
"Rhys?" She looked up at him.
His wild black hair was scattered in all directions, his black blank eyes stared back at her, he had a lollipop in his mouth while his hands got tucked into his leather jacket like he couldn't afford to touch her.
"I'm sorry Rhys, I just didn't want to cause problems yester…"
"You should eat. You look horrible. I'll see you later." He avoided her eyes, his eyes looking at the space above her head.
"Don't go." She made to stand but he held out his left hand to her.
"Too late. You should have done that yesterday. I would have chased him out of the house and we…" He sucked in a breath.
Carla looked at him with new thoughts, he had never gotten this close to showing raw emotions like this.
The door pushed open and Carla head twisted to see Damien's frowning face staring back at her from the door's opening.
She looked back to see Rhys but he was gone like a wisp of smoke.
"Who were you talking to?" Damien asked her.
"None of your business. I need to take a walk." She dragged herself out of the bed determined not to fall.
"Carla, you…"
"I would kneel down before you if you want me to. I would be your sex slave if it would soothe you well enough. What else do you want me to do?" She made sure not to break away from his gaze.
"I would do all of it, I only want to take a walk and have my thoughts all to myself." Her eyes were brimming with tears.
Damien sighed before stepping away to allow Carla head out to the main entrance.
"Carla." He called just when her hand touched the door knob.
"Allow me love you like I should." Carla half turned but wasn't facing Damien still.
"Take care of Anna. I can't face her like this." She replied and then she was out of the door not wanting to hear anymore of Damien's words.
