The car ride to the restaurant was smooth, the city lights casting a soft glow over Kieran's profile as he drove. His hand rested on the wheel, the other occasionally flicking the turn signal. I stared out the window, nerves fluttering in my stomach.
"You look beautiful," he said suddenly, glancing at me from the corner of his eye.
I turned to him, surprised. "You already said that."
He shrugged with a soft smile. "Doesn't make it less true."
That helped. A little.
When we pulled into the private garage below the restaurant, I reached for the door, but his hand shot out to stop me. He stepped out first, rounding the car quickly and opening the door for me.
"Milady," he said, offering his hand.
I rolled my eyes but smiled, placing my hand in his.
Inside, the restaurant was elegant but not ostentatious. A hostess approached as we walked in, and I gave her my name.
"Cassidy Duskbane."
