Chapter 24 - 24

The sky above the outer district was the color of rusted iron. The clouds didn't move—they loomed. Still. Watching. Just like the city.

Kiro crouched on a ledge of shattered concrete, the ruins of a collapsed processing tower behind him. The smell of fuel and blood mixed in the air. Below, nestled between industrial ruins and rows of mechanical garrisons, stood the Imperial supply outpost.

It pulsed with power. Heavy turrets rotated in timed intervals. Drones hovered. Patrols shifted in quadrants. Every movement was synchronized. Perfect. Efficient. Unforgiving.

A single misstep here didn't mean death.

It meant complete erasure.

But Kiro didn't move like someone afraid of death anymore.

His crimson eyes scanned the compound. He could feel his Core pulsing—like a second heart, deeper, older, and far more alive.

The Blood God System was evolving.

Not in levels or numbers.

But in form. In will.

In hunger.

He inhaled.

He could hear the voices of the rebels behind him. Nervous. Armed with scrap weapons and barely-functional drones. They weren't warriors. Not yet.

He was about to turn them into monsters.

"I'll go first," he said, not looking back.

A rebel—skin covered in oil and scars—grabbed his sleeve. "You can't solo a supply outpost, that's suicide. We wait for the others."

Kiro looked at the man. Not angry. Just... calm.

"I'm not going in to fight."

The man blinked.

"I'm going in to break them."

And then he jumped.

Air roared past him as he fell. The outpost's perimeter sensors flared—but too slow. Too late. Kiro landed like a meteor, Blood Venom igniting in his grip, crimson energy bleeding from his hand like smoke.

A scream pierced the comms. A guard tried to raise a weapon. Kiro appeared in front of him, faster than thought.

A blur of red.

A single cut.

The guard folded, armor splitting open, blood seeping in perfect silence.

Sirens wailed. Plasma fire lit the compound. Kiro ducked under the barrage, then twisted through it, almost dancing. But this was no art.

This was violence in motion.

A predator unleashed.

His body moved on instinct—an instinct sharpened by death, by pain, by the voice of something ancient inside him. He could feel the blood singing. Not just of his enemies—but the Empire itself.

The System pulsed.

Feed. Grow. Ascend.Blood Echo Field — Unlocked.

The ground beneath him cracked.

A wave of crimson energy exploded from Kiro's body like a shockwave. The nearby soldiers convulsed—blood tearing free from their pores, vessels rupturing, bones snapping under invisible pressure.

Screams. Gurgles. Then silence.

The outpost fell still.

Above, from the ledge, the rebels stared.

They weren't cheering.

They were afraid.

Kiro stood alone in the center of the carnage, Blood Venom humming softly, drinking the last drops of life from the nearest corpse.

His body trembled.

Not from fatigue.

From anticipation.

He looked up, eyes burning.

"This is just the beginning."

And in the shadows beyond the city wall, sleeper cells activated.

Kiro didn't know it yet, but the Empire had taken notice.

And now... they would answer.
