Chapter 215: A Mere Fatal Wound
Early the next morning, while Luna was still trying to linger in her warm bed, Arthur, seeing his calls go unanswered, silently summoned Little Lapras outside her window.
"Use Icy Wind on that window."
A short while later, Luna, her face covered in a layer of frost from the cold, pushed open the window and looked at him with a resentful expression.
Arthur stood outside the window and greeted her calmly, "Morning. Time for morning drills."
Luna stared at him fixedly for three seconds, then slammed the window shut with a "bang" and proceeded to get up and wash.
More than two hours later, Bella from the next room finally pushed open her bedroom door, yawning lazily. As soon as she came out, she saw Luna, a towel draped around her neck, fully dressed and sitting in the living room eating breakfast.
"Huh? You're up so early? I remember you trained until very late yesterday, didn't you?" Bella asked in surprise.
Luna shot her a fierce glare, which left Bella baffled, not understanding how she had offended her best friend.
"Thanks to that handsome shota of yours, I've already finished two rounds of drills with my Pokémon!"
"Er…"
Only then did Bella realize: so yesterday's demonic training session wasn't just a whim on Arthur's part.
The man didn't just have a three-minute passion for it; he actually planned to do this every day, as a routine.
This was very frightening.
Bella shivered, feeling more and more certain that her decision to slip away early yesterday was the correct one.
"Then you're not going to—later?"
Luna sighed. "Yes, I still have to go. The morning drills are just an appetizer."
According to the training schedule Arthur had laid out, Luna felt that, barring any accidents, she would be working overtime until ten o'clock again today.
Bella silently sent her a look of blessing, as if to say: Bon voyage.
Luna shot her a sharp glance, having already given up hope on this disloyal, "plastic" sister.
After bidding farewell to Luna, Bella had no intention of accompanying them for the whole session again today.
"The instructors are on vacation during the transfer window. I'll give myself a day off today. I'm going to watch that drama I saved. I've been waiting for a long time."
As a professional player, Bella's schedule was also very tight, with little free time. She would save dramas she wanted to watch and often had to wait several months, or even more than half a year, before she could find the time to watch them.
They didn't have many holidays either.
The drama she was watching today was one she had saved more than half a year ago. At the time, the handsome actor's backward glance and smile on the poster had been unforgettable.
But watching it again today, she felt that it had lost its initial stunning quality.
"Why do all these handsome guys look so effeminate to me now? Is it because I've been looking at that little shota's muscles too much recently? Damn it! If this goes on, Arthur is going to spoil my aesthetic standards."
In terms of facial features, Arthur certainly couldn't compete with celebrities from the film and television industry. But in terms of physique, the muscle definition after he took off his shirt was absolutely of the most perfect proportion, containing explosive power!
As she thought about it, Bella could feel herself starting to drool again.
"Ah! Damn it! I'd better go take a look after all!"
After eating lunch, Bella, who really had no mood to watch her drama, decided to go and check on her best friend's training progress after all.
That's right, she was going to check on her best friend. It definitely wasn't because she couldn't resist looking at muscles!
Arriving at the outdoor field, Luna quickly noticed her friend's arrival.
"Didn't you say you weren't coming? What? It's only been a day and you're already itching to see your little shota?"
"Go, go, go! Don't make me sound like some female pervert."
"Are you... perhaps under some misunderstanding about yourself?"
Luna's expression clearly read: Are you not?
Bella irritably spat out a single word: "Scram!"
After a round of bickering, Bella keenly noticed that her friend's attitude seemed to have changed somewhat.
At first, when Luna asked Arthur to help plan her training, she was apprehensive. Yesterday, when she had just received the training schedule, Luna was devastated. This morning, when she was forcibly woken up from her bed by "Icy Wind," Luna was resentful.
But at this very moment, after some playful banter, Bella was more and more certain—
"You seem to be in a pretty good mood now?"
Luna glanced at her and didn't hide it.
"Mm, Beedrill just learned Substitute."
Bella was stunned upon hearing this.
"So fast?!"
As a good friend, she knew a little about Luna's Pokémon and knew that she hadn't focused much on training her Beedrill after becoming a professional player.
After all, the upper limit for that kind of Pokémon was indeed a bit low.
Therefore, Luna hadn't signed Beedrill up for lessons for a long time; it had been at least a year or two since an instructor had guided it.
In other words, all of Beedrill's training was equivalent to starting from scratch.
And now, on only the second day, it had already learned a new skill?!
This…
"Isn't this speed too fast?! How did you do it? Did you guys secretly go buy lessons this morning?
No, that's not right! All the instructors at the base are on vacation now, you couldn't buy lessons even if you had the money! What on earth is going on?"
Bella pressed on impatiently.
She had to admit: she was sour!
Sour as if she had just eaten a lemon!
Learning a new move in a day and a half—what kind of divine speed was this?!
And it wasn't a low-tier skill like "Water Gun" or "Ember." "Substitute" was a considerably high-end and versatile defensive move with wide applications; learning it was definitely a good investment.
Faced with Bella's question, Luna's expression became a little strange for a moment.
"Tell me! Quickly, quickly!"
Although Bella had said late yesterday that she would never come again, that was because she hadn't seen the training results at the time.
Now, seeing that Arthur's method was truly effective, she immediately cleared that memory from her mind.
What not coming? Who said they weren't coming? Who said that? I don't know them!
Her reaction was remarkably true to life.
However, facing her best friend's pushiness, Luna, for some reason, hesitated.
Just then, Arthur returned to the field.
Luna then quickly pointed towards Arthur and said, "There, see for yourself."
Soon, Arthur called Kadabra over.
Kadabra could also learn "Substitute." It was a very common move that almost all Pokémon could learn.
Arthur slowly drew his sword and said coolly, "I've already explained the basic techniques of Substitute to you just now, and Beedrill also demonstrated it. You saw it, right?"
Kadabra nodded with a solemn expression.
Bella noticed that for some reason, Luna's Kadabra's hands were shaking so much that it could barely hold its spoon steady.
"What is this?"
Bella didn't understand. What is it afraid of?
The answer was quickly revealed—
Arthur took a step forward, his upper body tensing. He gripped his sword with both hands, his aura condensing as if collapsing into an abyss!
"This next sword strike, I will not hold back. If you can't use Substitute, you will die!"
The next second, without waiting for Kadabra to reply, he had already stepped forward, his sword swinging as if to slay a dragon!
"SWISH!"
The light of the sword flashed past like a thunderbolt!
"Hiss!"
Bella, watching from the side, sucked in a cold breath, so scared that the hair on her arms stood on end.
Immediately after, she saw Arthur calmly turn and sheathe his sword, giving instructions.
"Give it CPR, carry it aside and bandage it up. Call that emergency doctor to come back again.
You guys rest for a little while, we'll continue with the next one later."
His breezy expression seemed to say: A mere fatal wound is nothing to make a fuss about.
Bella swallowed a large gulp of saliva.
She stiffly turned her neck to look at her best friend at her side and asked dryly, "Did he just say... to have some emergency doctor come back again?"
Luna nodded with a deadpan expression. "Yes."
"Meaning, an emergency doctor has already been here?"
Luna was silent for a long moment before answering, "Yes, he's already been here three times…"
