Chapter 53 - Rebuild

In the meeting hall, Yidela reported the city's situation to Roye. "I see, it seems the priority is to gather the people to harvest food," Judo analyzed. "Yes, it's the autumn harvest now. The crops outside the city are unharvested, while the city faces shortages and frequent looting," Roye agreed. Yidela added, "The main issue is that people are afraid of the demon clan and dare not leave the city." Judo replied, "We haven't seen any demon army on our way here; it's safe outside. I'm a hero. If they're worried, let me guard them. You organize people to harvest the crops." Yidela nodded, "Understood, but I'm not sure if the other militia groups in the city can be mobilized. I'll arrange for people to spread the word first." "Thank you for your trouble," Roye said. The news of the princess's arrival spread throughout the city, and various civilian groups gathered in front of the city hall. Roye and Judo patiently persuaded them, and the people agreed to venture out together. They reached the fields, where the golden crops were thriving. Everyone joyfully began harvesting, with Judo and some armed men standing guard. By evening, the harvest was nearly complete, and the crops were transported back to the city by carts. The orchards also yielded a bountiful harvest. People in the city started clearing the ruins, working together to rebuild their homes. Everything seemed infinitely promising until a villager ran over, panting, "Bad news! A small demon squad is passing nearby!" "Where are they? I'll check," Judo asked. The villager replied, "In the dense forest to the right outside the city, getting closer to us." Judo told Roye and the citizens to stay put and went to investigate alone. He reached the target area and spotted a group of about forty or fifty demon soldiers advancing slowly, led by what seemed to be a commander, heading toward Salim. "(Why are they coming this way?)" Judo wondered. He could wipe out the squad with a large-scale lightning magic attack but wanted to capture one alive for information. Sneaking to an optimal position, he unleashed his ultimate move, Thousand Thunder Flash. Countless bolts of lightning instantly struck dozens of soldiers. The leader dodged, but Judo was already behind him, pointing a spear at him. "Don't move! What's your purpose here?" "Kill me if you must. We demons don't fear death," the leader declared boldly. "A brave one. Care to give your name?" Judo asked. "Kmir, Tenth General of the Demon King's Army!" "I'll remember that. You can't do much now. Leave and don't come near Salim again," Judo said, intending to let him go. "Are you insulting me, you damned human?!" Kmir roared. Judo replied, "I admire your spirit and don't want to end your life here." He turned to leave. "Wait! As a general of the Demon King, I can't accept this humiliation. Let's fight. If you want information, defeat me, or be prepared to die!" Kmir shouted. "You want a fight? I'm game," Judo said, striking a battle pose. The clash was imminent. Kmir attacked first with Demon Realm Fireballs, launching several fireballs at Judo. Judo dodged swiftly and countered with his spear. They engaged in close combat, with Judo clearly dominating. After a few rounds, Kmir was defeated. "I lost, hmph," Kmir panted, sitting on the ground. "Now keep your promise and tell me your purpose," Judo said. Kmir paused, then spoke, "The Haifi Kingdom has been unconquerable. His Majesty sent me to scout the enemy, but I fell into your ambush. I've said all I will. Kill me now." "No, I keep my promises. You can go," Judo said, walking away without looking back.
