Chapter 110: The Angelic High Priest
In Spirit City's Hall of Consecration the true power core of the Spirit Hall all the consecrated Title Douluo possessed cultivation levels no lower than 95. At the summit of them all was Qian Daoliu, the Angel Douluo, a 99th level Title Douluo revered as the "Unstoppable Sky."
Besides honoring these formidable Title Douluo, the Hall of Consecration also enshrined the Angel God worshiped by the Spirit Hall. Beneath the Angel God's statue knelt an elderly man in silent prayer, his face reflecting sincere reverence.
Tap, tap, tap.
Steady footsteps echoed through the quiet hall as Qian Xunji, dressed in his ornate papal robes, solemnly approached and stood behind Qian Daoliu without saying a word.
After some time, Qian Daoliu opened his eyes, rose, and asked, "What is it?"
"Father," Qian Xunji replied, "an unknown 98th level Title Douluo has appeared on the continent, with a soul ring configuration of six black and three red."
Instantly, the peaceful hall was filled with a stifling soul pressure, making it difficult even for Qian Xunji, despite his level 95 cultivation, to breathe.
"What are the details?" Qian Daoliu asked, releasing the pressure.
Suppressing the tremor in his heart, Qian Xunji quickly explained, "He calls himself Tianxing Douluo and claims to have retired to the newly founded Tianxing Academy. Although he didn't reveal his appearance, his voice was old. Apparently, he was forced to show himself after being disturbed by the Haotian Twin Stars. According to reports, this Tianxing Douluo's ninth ring is from a 300,000 year old beast."
A heavy silence fell once more, and after a while, Qian Daoliu spoke again.
"A 300,000 year old beast is not easy to hunt. If this man is unknown and without a famous background, it's possible he attempted a divine trial like mine, but failed. The gods can be merciful; some even allow failed candidates to survive," he mused, recalling his own experience on Sea God Island in his youth. Not all gods were as generous as the Sea God.
The Angel God's trial, after all, could only be undertaken by the generation's High Priest. His son Qian Xunji was not eligible to undergo the trial and obtain extended lifespan soul rings. If he could, he would never have been gravely injured by Tang Hao, who had only recently attained Title Douluo in the original story.
Qian Daoliu pondered further.
"A failed divine candidate barely hanging on is nothing to worry about. However, it's worth probing him to learn which god's trial he underwent. That knowledge could provide our descendants with an alternative path to godhood. Just be careful not to provoke him. A 98th level Title Douluo fighting to the death could even injure me."
Qian Xunji's heart leaped with excitement. Becoming a god was the ultimate aspiration of almost every soul master. However, his own qualifications were likely insufficient, and the thought dampened his spirit somewhat.
"Yes, Father."
Qian Xunji turned to leave but stopped at the sound of Qian Daoliu's voice.
"Xunji, you're not getting any younger. It's time you chose a bride from within our clan. I'd like a grandson. Perhaps he'll have the potential to become a god."
The middle aged Qian Xunji's face flushed with embarrassment, but he dared not defy his father's wishes and mumbled his agreement.
As for taking action with Bibi Dong? Right now, Bibi Dong was a model saintess, excelling in cultivation, dutifully carrying out missions, and upholding her public image. Should Qian Xunji attempt to claim her through brute force, Qian Daoliu would not hesitate to punish him. The Angel God held judgment among its divine authorities, and the angelic bloodline's moral rigor would never tolerate such depravity within their ranks.
In the original storyline, Qian Daoliu had refrained largely because Bibi Dong had already shown rebellious affection toward an enemy and essentially defected from Spirit Hall. By then, she was nearly an enemy herself, and her relationship with Qian Renxue future inheritor of the Angel God complicated matters. The thought of jeopardizing Qian Renxue's godly path prevented Qian Daoliu from intervening. As the mother of the future Angel God, Bibi Dong's actions would shape her daughter's spiritual and emotional journey, critical to her divine trial.
After all, a beautiful woman isn't rare; for every fifty girls, one is a class beauty. With a massive population base, there's no shortage of stunning women, and Qian Xunji could have his pick without fixating on Bibi Dong, an alluring figure with her classic curves and wasp like waist. (A beauty indeed!)
Meanwhile, Ye Wen remained unaware that he had narrowly evaded Qian Daoliu's wrath, though he had planned his persona precisely to avoid such threats.
As Tianxing Academy approached its second year of enrollment, Ye Wen found himself overwhelmed with preparations. The incident with the Haotian Twin Stars had placed the academy in the continent's spotlight, and he anticipated even more applicants than in the previous year.
Reflecting on the shortcomings of last year's admissions, he decided to overhaul the process for students with unique martial souls.
"Do you want to become a Soul Saint, Soul Douluo, or even a Title Douluo? If so, come here. Tianxing Academy offers soul masters everything they need. No matter how weak or mutated your martial soul may be, if you have the will, it won't be an obstacle. Register for the Tianxing Academy's Potential Dragon Tournament, where a top ten finish could change your fate. Become an elite, a pride to your family, and a disciple of our Headmaster!"
"Entry requirements: under 16 years old, soul power level under 20."
The enticing advertisement was aimed squarely at passionate youths and ambitious soul masters, driving a wave of applicants. Even highly talented students who coveted these resources were envious, as no one would ever complain about having too many resources.
Thanks to their recovery after fighting the Tang brothers, Head Instructor Lu Feng and Dugu Bo were now part of Ye Wen's core circle. Lu Feng's Taipan Rock Python martial soul carried dragon bloodline and earth element attributes, aligning well with Ye Wen's Earth Dragon Gourd essence. With its infusion, Lu Feng's martial soul evolved, sprouting dragon claws and horns to become a dragon type martial soul.
Initially skeptical, Lu Feng was ecstatic at the transformation, which also enhanced his physical limits.
"From now on, my martial soul is the Taipan Dragon Python! Haha!" he declared.
Dugu Bo wasn't envious; his own martial soul had already evolved into the Jade Scaled Snake Emperor, putting him on par with Lu Feng's new form. For Dugu Bo, Ye Wen crafted a unique perfume using the essence of the Delicate Velvet Immortal Herb.
"Old Poison, spray this on yourself during battles to prevent venom buildup in your body."
Dugu Bo, though appearing somewhat sinister, was a man of integrity. At first, he scoffed at the idea of using perfume, but realizing its effects, he gladly accepted it. As a true eccentric, he even took to spraying it on himself during risky alchemical experiments, just in case.
This unconventional use proved valuable, given that Yang Wudi, a Poisonbreak Clan member, had nearly succumbed to poison backlash while refining medicine. This unusual "perfume" was indeed potent.
