Chapter 26 - Miracle in the lab

Lucky for Xavier, he was give a week long pass from school to rest up and recover, so he used that opportunity to gather all he needed for the raid.

First, some orbs.

Orbs weren't particularly leased out to students because of how dangerous they could be, so rather they are confounded in school inventory and requires a top rank school staff's permission before it can be given out.

He knew that could be difficult to achieve right away so he tabled that for last.

Right now, the most important thing he needed or at least so he thought was something that served as somewhat of a shield from the Omega climate.

That experience was draining and intensifying. Not only does it render you immobile but also constantly drains your mana in large chunks till all that's left of you is a shadow of your former self.

An Omega shield.

That was gonna be really difficult to achieve.

If something like that already existed, that was gonna be a major game changer for him.

His first stop today was at the library. He needed to do some essential research about that realm before venturing in oncemore.

At first, he was halted by the indolent, grumpy old librarian who stood firmly against the wide door barely even trying to obstruct his pass.

"And what are you doing here Mr Von?", she asked quizzically.

He didn't even bother looking her way, he simply raised his pass slip with the tip of his two fingers and continued walking in uninterrupted motion.

He really didn't like they lady.

The entire library was almost empty as the rest of the students had classes till atleast the next two hours.

He strolled along the shelves undisturbed and picked up some books relating to the matter at hand.

After an hour and half of intensive research through about twelve books or more, his fears were confirmed – there was no already made depressant for the Omega climate.

Even though there wasn't one already made, through the bulk information gulped over the past hours he manged to gather quintessential data about what constitutes such phenomenon.

It turns out that the Omega climate, is an antagonistic effect of the mana saturated atmosphere in the Alpha realm making it unable to breed mana dependant creatures.

The vacumm then creates a counter pressure when even the most minute mana particle penetrated the realm.

This counter pressure simply draws out the mana found within and distributes such equally to the surroundings, thus constituting the Omega climate.

Theoretically, it also meant that if a mana independent omega creature came to the Alpha realm, such would also persist in them, though only true for shades with light element.

So if such was brought about by the realm being able to detect when a mana-ed being enters, all he needed to do was to find a way to block the detectible mana flowing out of him or at least keep it confounded within him.

There were two ways this could be achieved

One, through the mighty power of sheer will – helming your mana to stay confounded within your system without any streaming or motion.

This method though effective, builds up massive mana pressure over a prolonged period of time.

So that left him to his second option - Alchemy.

Alchemy was the one course of this school that wasn't true magic. Any other method he uses to approach at a solution, wouldn't be absolute as they all require variable bits of detectible mana.

Invariably, what Xavier was sterilizing was the production of some kind of serum or spray to covert mana content.

Queerly, he seemed kind of confident about creating such. He had never performed anything like this before. What held his surety high was that he has read about basic alchemy and also this was soemhow connected to what he most have known in chemistry back in Aedes.

So he had a plan for the day.

'Make a solution serum, get some orbs and finally choose a trusted and powerful partner. Easy.'

He gathered the notes he made and marched up to the laboratory.

He begun performing experiments he thought would progress as easily as he had concepted in his head but every near-solution serum kept exploding right in his face.

He was getting frustrated. He punched hard against the wooded surface of the lab with undeniable anxiety.

'There is no way I'm gonna die cause of some potion chooses not to comply.'

These were the sort of things that took people years to figure out but be didn't have years. He needed it right now.

The tension was palpable but unfortunately for him there was no one in the lab to share his frustration with or at least confide in.

He needed a miracle.

The lab rats he had been working with were fast ascending. He had already sent about fifty of them to their maker and this was inconsiderately deducted from his credits.

Negative 200. That's how much money he has left.

This coupled worries invited him to release another powerful strike in the lab desk.

Some of the apparatus holding some chemicals came crashing down and spilt acid every where.

Xavier ducked under the acid resistant desk as the rest of his bought reagents wasted away.

One other from the top rack on the table staggered a bit with an open cap and spilled unto the remains of some mixed chemicals on a half shattered conical flask.

The reagent dissolved and the solution turned pale blue.

However, this solution was connected to a tube that joined up with a mana metre just above an enclosed box containing his remaining lab rat.

The meter stuttered a bit as Xavier rose after the crash.

It shook from left to right and then from right to left with decreasing amplitude.

Moments later, the meter landed at the zero mark and balanced there.

Xavier's eyes widened in awe. He couldn't believe this.

"It's zero. It's actually zero," he exclaimed in a loud tune.

He looked again to ensure the lab rat was still breathing before bursting into celebration oncemore.

"Eureka!!!", he exploded again as he saw a living breathing rat within a mana vacumm.

This was amazing. He was so ecstatic. So he wouldn't die afterwards. He jumped up some more before rushing store up the spray before it got contaminated.

"One down...two to go," he joyfully soliloquised.
