Li Ming and Wang Yang arrived at home, only to find Wang Yang's parents already there, sitting in the living room, waiting for them.
The two exchanged a surprised glance, then quickly greeted them.
"Mom, Dad?" Wang Yang said, setting his bag down. "What are you doing here?"
"We thought we'd drop by and see how you boys are doing," his mother replied with a warm smile.
Li Ming also greeted them respectfully and sat beside Wang Yang. The atmosphere was calm, even a little warm. It was clear that the parents didn't mind Li Ming being there.
After a few moments of casual conversation, Wang Yang suddenly turned serious. "I want to tell you both something," he said. "Li Ming and I… we're together. We're dating."
His parents looked at each other, then back at the boys. There was no anger, no shock.
"That's alright," his mother said gently. "We've always known you two were special to each other."
Wang Yang blinked, surprised. Li Ming looked down, cheeks faintly flushed.
Wang Yang's father nodded. "We support you. There's no issue from our side."
Then, Wang Yang brought up Li Ming's mother. "But… Li Ming's mom doesn't support us. She's completely against it."
At this, Wang Yang's father's expression changed slightly. He leaned forward, listening carefully. Then, after a moment of silence, he spoke quietly.
"I know why," he said.
Both Li Ming and Wang Yang looked at him, confused.
Wang Yang's father took a deep breath. "Li Ming… a long time ago, your father and I were in love."
Li Ming's eyes widened. "What…?"
Even Wang Yang looked stunned. "You and… his dad?"
"Yes," his father said calmly. "Back then, we loved each other deeply. But your grandfather—Li Ming's grandfather—he was very wealthy and powerful. He believed I was with his son only for money. He didn't approve. He forced your dad to marry someone else… your mother."
Li Ming sat frozen, trying to process everything.
"Your mom loved your dad truly," Wang Yang's father continued. "But your dad was never happy in that marriage. When she became pregnant with you, he divorced her. And I think… maybe, just maybe, she still holds resentment toward me. Maybe that's why she's so against your relationship with Wang Yang. Because it reminds her of what she lost."
He looked at both of them with a soft, serious gaze.
"I'm supporting you now because I couldn't protect my own love back then. I don't want you both to suffer the way we did. Don't let the world destroy something beautiful."
Silence filled the room.
Li Ming's heart was pounding. Wang Yang reached for his hand and held it tightly.
In that moment, they understood—they were not just fighting for themselves… but for the love their fathers had been forced to abandon.
