Ao Tian stepped forward, his sharp eyes fixed on Xiao Tiance. The heavy aura of a seasoned killer surrounded him, the kind that could only be honed through countless brushes with death.
Xiao Tiance smiled, unfazed. "Whether or not I'm arrogant isn't for you to decide. As a mercenary, you should know the risks of living by the sword. Otto sought me out and paid the price for his weakness. If I were you, I'd hide in the Magical Beast Mountain Range instead of coming here to die. But I must admit, your courage is admirable."
Ao Tian's eyes narrowed, his voice like ice. "Enough chatter. You killed my nephew, so don't expect me to show mercy. Men, kill them all!"
Before the mercenaries could act, Xiao Yi Xian broke free of Xiao Tiance's grip and stepped in front of him, spreading her arms wide.
"Wait! Don't attack! Ao Tian, I understand you're grieving, but hear me out!" she pleaded.
Ao Tian signaled for his men to pause, his expression dark. "Xiao Yi Xian, this has nothing to do with you. I respect your reputation in Qingshan Town as a healer, but if you continue to interfere, don't blame me for being ruthless.
And since my nephew admired you in life, I'll make you his widow once I'm done here."
"You !"
Xiao Yi Xian's face turned red with anger. The thought of being forced into such a fate infuriated her.
Before she could retort, Xiao Tiance calmly placed his hand back on her head. "You're too young to be meddling in these matters. Step back."
There was something soothing about his touch, and for a moment, Xiao Yi Xian felt oddly comforted. But as soon as she realized what he was doing, she struggled to break free, determined to argue with Ao Tian.
Xiao Tiance sighed, growing tired of the situation.
"Enough. I have no interest in explaining myself to ants. You've sealed your fate by provoking someone like me. It's time to end this."
Golden flames suddenly ignited in his hand, their radiance so intense that the temperature around them soared. The sheer heat and the overwhelming sense of doom froze Ao Tian and his men in their tracks.
The flames transformed into a small dragon, which zipped through the crowd with lightning speed. In the blink of an eye, the mercenaries were engulfed, their bodies reduced to ashes before they could even scream.
When the dust settled, only piles of ash and a massive scorch mark on the ground remained. It was as if Ao Tian and his men had never existed.
Both Xiao Yi Xian and Xiao Huai'en gasped audibly.
"H how is this possible?!" Xiao Yi Xian stammered, her voice trembling.
She stared at the golden flames as they returned to Xiao Tiance's hand, instinctively stepping back until she bumped into him.
"Ah!" she yelped, startled.
