"Tsk tsk, what an unlucky fellow."
"They're just looking for an excuse to deal with him."
"Hmm, he should have just apologized instead of ignoring them."

The two guards puffed out their chests, emboldened by the attention. One of them brandished a crude iron badge as if it gave him the weight of a sect decree. "You heard me!" he barked. "This man is under suspicion of treason and cultivation crimes against the city! Anyone aiding him will be considered complicit!"
The second guard took a few steps toward Adrian, drawing the saber at his side. "You're coming with us."
Adrian's lips twitched beneath the hood.
He had hoped to get through this peacefully, but it seemed that it wasn't going to happen. Was he going to allow himself to get captured?
Of course, he wasn't. Especially when he knew that these guards only wanted to teach him a lesson.
