Lucien placed a cigarette between his lips and lit it, its flame casting a fleeting glow across his face. As his phone rang, he picked it up without hesitation.
"Did you find him?" he asked sharply, the desperation in his voice revealed the anger simmering beneath.
"Yes," Caleb replied. "We've tracked him down. Ronan is already on his tail."
Lucien exhaled a plume of smoke, his jaw tightening.
"But there's a problem," Caleb added. "Once he crosses the border of our pack, we lose all jurisdiction. We won't be able to touch him after that."
Lucien's eyes darkened. "Then why the hell aren't you and the others with him? Why is Ronan handling this alone?" he barked, fury erupting in his tone. "I gave a clear order, work as a unit!"
"Alpha, I told your brother exactly that," Caleb said quickly. "But he insisted we stay out of it. He said he'd bring the bastard back himself. I'm sorry."
