After freshening up, just as Mei Liang was considering taking a stroll—maybe she would run into Zhao Jieyu by chance—a servant hurried in to announce the arrival of Eunuch Zhao.
Mei Liang quickly changed into a more presentable outfit and made her way with her maidservants behind her to the main hall.Eunuch Zhao bowed respectfully upon seeing her.
"You may rise. What brings Eunuch Zhao here?" Mei Liang asked.
"His Majesty has summoned Mei Guiren to dine with him in the hall," Eunuch Zhao announced with a courteous smile.
Cuiyu and Lanxin lit up with joy at the news. Yet, ever mindful of etiquette, Cuiyu discreetly slipped a small embroidered purse into Eunuch Zhao's sleeve.
"Please use this to enjoy a pot of tea," she said softly.
Mei Liang turned toward Eunuch Zhao with a serene expression. "Alright, please give me a moment to change," she said.
After changing into a more elegant robe, she immediately followed Eunuch Zhao, making her way to Changqing Hall.
