The forest that was predominantly quiet before now felt too quiet and alarmingly still.
There was no wind or leaves shifting from above. Not even the chirping of the birds and crickets Wooyun had become accustomed to hearing. It was like something was there, causing the forest to grow silent so as to not disturb whatever beast was lurking within.
Lee Wooyun didn't know why, but he felt like something was listening and watching him.
He didn't move, but his hand curled slowly around his spear. The faintest prickle crept across the back of his neck not from fear, but awareness. Something else had entered the space around him. He cast a look behind him. Nothing. No movement, no glow of eyes between the trees. Just thick fog and still roots. But he knew the forest wasn't emptied despite how silent his surroundings had gotten. Something was moving through it, and whatever it was, it wasn't hunting with sight.
