Chapter 23 - Testing Inventory

SHRIEK!

A roar that transformed from a menacing and mighty one to the sound of a cat getting beaten came out of the Stone Fang.

Its body had just accelerated from about 80 km/hour to nothing in a matter of milisecond after all. Not only did the beast get internal damage, there might have even been some damage to its brain.

After all, the punch had landed straight on its head.

SHHRRRRK! SHHRRRKK! SHRRKK!

After the beast's collision, the give Screecherkins flying above also let out strange surprised noises.

However, this sound didn't contain much panic, but contained hints of play instead. It was as if a group of monkeys had gathered together to watch something in amusement.

'How noisy' Gang Xin thought.

It would've been great if someone came out to teach these naughty birds a lesson.

Only, Gang Xin didn't have the capacity to do so currently.

Even the Stone Fang didn't have the ability. Otherwise, no matter how injured it was, it wouldn't have been forced into this desperate circumstance.

GRRR...

Although the Stone Fang was given a shock, it recovered quickly.

Its two front legs pressed the ground in front, and they acted like a spring - pushing the beast away from Fang Yuan.

Doing so however, it was still evidently a little dazed as its body swayed a little from side to side.

Then, it suddenly shook its head; its blood splattered greenish gray fur raised up a little and its pupils constricted greatly.

Its body was now stiff. And right now, it was looking at the human in front of it with great caution.

After all, on its head was a deformation that spread from its forehead. As for on the central point of that deformation, it was a fist sized hole, with deep and sharp holes specifically on the knuckles.

Blood was slowly seeping out of the holes. However, the blood would quickly be vaporised because of the fur that had burned to become char black.

Strangely, even after the fur had burned, the flame seemed to live on, even without burning anything.

Grrrrrr

The Stone Fang let out a low growl. In the beast's language, this was both a threat and a partial signal to reconcile.

If Gang Xin was willing, the feline was also willing to go the other way.

Unfortunately for the animal, Gang Xin didn't have any intent to.

Thus, after recovering from the aftershock himself, he instantly propelled himself further.

Qi surged through his body as his leg pushed to the ground fiercely, and his body came accelerating forward.

Although the feline tried to dodge it, it was unsuccessful as Gang Xin was faster.

"Ha!" Gang Xin punched once more. This time, the punch was directed at the neck of the cat.

His movements were very quick; in response, the Stone Fang could do nothing but track his arm with its eyes.

It had been injured, and still haven't fully recovered from the dizziness. It was not surprising that it hadn't been able to dodge.

BAM!

Star Immolation Fist Second Form! Piercing Shard!

The fist collided once again. However this time, a visible hole had been left where the neck should've been.

Blood instantly surged out, and not even the Immortal Flame could vaporise that amount.

After this attack, the fight was all over.

Roarrr

With a reluctant roar, the beast collapsed, and the life in its eyes faded away. As for Gang Xin, he couldn't help but smile as he looked at the body that was losing its life by the second.

However, he was still on guard. He didn't know if this animal would make a last stand and take him with itself to the netherworld.

Fortunately, it didn't.

SCREECH! SCREECH!

The Screecherkin started becoming louder and louder like they were getting excited.

They were probably thinking of picking up this high tier food now that it was dead. As for the human?

Well, it was annoying, but they can fly. They can find a way out of it.

So, one dived in. Bravely, it screeched as they dived in.

Its arms were united for a moment, before they separated as they neared Gang Xin.

Surprisingly, they were very fast.

Scratch

Gang Xin extended his hand, and tried to grab it. Unfortunately, he couldn't. Especially because of its nimble nature, he seemed to just miss them.

Instead, he was the one who had been left with a long scratch from his neck to his right cheek. Their claw was very sharp. If the Screecherkin had been able to go deeper, Gang Xin didn't suspect his face would've been partially mutilated.

'Turns out they are strong. I always thought because they lived in large groups, they wouldn't be a problem' Gang Xin frowned at this.

Seeing that the first Screecherkin's attack had been successful, the others seemed to let out a laughing sound before also diving in.

This time, Gang Xin didn't just have to deal with a nimble but deadly bird that could peel off his skin. He had to deal with 4 at the same time.

Because they all dove in at the same time, unless he forced his body into a very strange shape, he won't be able to escape unscathed at all.

However, even in this predicament, no trace of panic could be seen on Gang Xin's face. Instead, it was a state of calmness, as if he was expecting this.

With no anxiety, his hands started forming a circle. Faint traces of fire qi once again gathered around him and seeped; along with the fire qi that had suddenly gathered from the surroundings, they were quite a sizable amount.

Star Immolation Fist First Form - Shattering Dust.

At this moment, the four Screecherkin have already closed in greatly on Gang Xin. No matter what they did, they wouldn't be able to change directions in such a short notice.

Not that it mattered anyways. Thus, Gang Xin collided his palms together, and then

BOOM!

An explosion that was in a much greater scale than the first one was created.

Even Gang Xin was affected by the shock; but because he was prepared, he didn't falter much, and quickly transitioned to another motion.

His hands were slightly charred, but were quick to swipe at the nearest Screecherkin.

'Inventory!'

Swish

The Screecherkin that he swiped at... disappeared.
