Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: The Sword of Divine Ruin

"Hahahahaha!!" — At that moment, Kojou heard the laughter of Voban, who was charging toward him at tremendous speed. "Interesting, interesting! I didn't expect you to be this strong, 7th. It's been a long time since someone injured me this badly with a single attack."

Despite the blood still trickling from the corner of Voban's mouth, he laughed hysterically, as if in a state of euphoria.

"Did you lose your mind, old man?" Kojou spat, staring at Voban with disgust. It was obvious the man wasn't in his right mind—smiling while literally gushing blood from all seven orifices.

Kojou's previous strike had clearly been devastating. Even Voban, with his extraordinarily durable body, had been severely wounded by a single blow.

But that wasn't all. The golden lightning still crackling through Voban's body was drastically weakening his regenerative abilities.

"Like the star shining in the daytime… the light of Lykos reaches even the heavens!" — In less than a second, Voban finished his incantation. His body transformed into a 4-meter-tall werewolf, and with this shift, his regeneration surged. His wounds began healing despite the golden lightning still coursing through him.

Rooar!

Voban unleashed a thunderous roar of destructive lightning toward Kojou while simultaneously summoning wolves to attack him.

The attack was so powerful it obliterated everything between Voban and Kojou, proving the overwhelming force of Voban's lightning strike.

'I could absorb this lightning with my own and counterattack, but that won't work. I'd need to focus entirely on that, leaving me defenseless against the wolves and the old man.' Kojou's thoughts raced. Though he had the option to dodge using Authority: Bird of Prey (Raptor), his instincts screamed that it'd be pointless.

"I didn't want to reveal too much of my power… but it seems I have no choice," Kojou muttered. His arm turned black with red veins, and a bloody mist erupted from it. "Come on, Mesarthim-Adamas."

In an instant, a sheep covered in over ten thousand diamonds appeared behind Kojou, surrounding him with hexagonal diamond barriers.

When the lightning strike collided with the diamond barrier, the barrier didn't shatter—nor did the attack explode. Instead, the lightning rebounded toward Voban at even greater speed.

"What?!" Voban couldn't believe his eyes. He was too close to the attack to evade it, so in desperation, he opened his maw to swallow the lightning whole.

His werewolf form could devour even the power of the sun and release it with amplified force—but that only applied to solar energy. In a panic, he tried to swallow his own lightning strike, forgetting that his storm's automatic defenses wouldn't activate against his own attack.

"I won't lose to my own attack!!" Voban roared, stubbornly expanding his werewolf body to gulp down the lightning with sheer willpower.

"Is everything possible for you, old man?" Kojou scoffed, almost resentful of Voban's absurd luck. The old man's Authority had mutated, allowing him to absorb the lightning with minimal damage.

Much about Authorities remained mysterious, but one thing was certain: they evolved, adapting to their wielders' emotions to better suit their needs.

Boom!

Seeing the wolves closing in, Kojou didn't hesitate. He unleashed a storm of lightning from his body as the epicenter, roasting every last wolf—dealing with them one by one would've been tedious.

"O Sword, shine with brilliance for the sake of my victory and justice!" Kojou chanted. A golden sword materialized in his hand, and the space around them transformed into a golden void filled with floating golden blades. "Both eloquent and powerful. I am the sword of wisdom, that which tears foes apart. I am the strongest, for I am the one holding all victory in my hands. I shall smash through all enemies in my way!"

"What… is this?" Voban muttered, his body trembling. His instincts screamed at him to run—if he stayed, he'd die.

When he killed Verethragna, the Golden Sword had many restrictions: it could only be used once per day, only against Authorities, and required "words of power" to negate the divine—an annoying hassle. Kojou had been willing to discard the other Authorities he'd gained from Verethragna just to remove these limitations. Now, he could negate the divine without those constraints. All he needed was sufficient knowledge of the target god—easy enough with Spiritual Sight.

"This farce ends here, old man," Kojou declared, raising the Golden Sword skyward. Hundreds of golden blades materialized above, obeying his will. With a flick of his wrist, they rained down on Voban.

"…" Seeing the onslaught, Voban didn't hesitate. He activated his trump card—his emerald eyes glowed, and the Golden Swords turned to salt.

"Hahahaha! I won't lose, 7th—especially not to you, the friend of that fool!" Voban grinned triumphantly as his trump card worked.

"This is my world, old man. And it specializes in destroying the divine," Kojou retorted, his beastly smile returning. He unleashed more magical energy, and the runes engraved on the Golden Swords shifted.

"What?!" Voban shouted, realizing his eye's power no longer worked. The swords refused to turn to salt.

"Not yet—I'm not done!!" Voban screamed. A cautious man, he hadn't relied on just one trump card. He had another.

"No. It's over. Nothing is hidden from my eyes," Kojou said, his gaze piercing Voban, sending a chill down the old man's spine.

"Damn you!!" Voban roared in helpless rage. His power was sealed—he could only stand frozen as the Golden Swords descended upon him.

Boom!!!

With a deafening explosion, Voban was crushed under hundreds of Golden Swords.
