Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Battlefield of the Land of Lightning – Absolute Power Crushes All

Compared to the battlefield in the Land of the Moon, the methods used here had to be different. Kumogakure's military strength far surpassed that of the Land of Wind.

According to White Zetsu's surveillance, this time Kumogakure had dispatched nearly eight thousand elite shinobi—warriors they had cultivated over many years.

Hyuga Gakuya's mission in this battle was simple: use overwhelming power to crush the opposition and show them the meaning of true resistance.

...

At the entrance of a canyon that connected to the Land of the Moon, the Kumogakure forces had halted to rest, waiting for the Anbu scouts to finish surveying the path ahead.

"Report, Lord Raikage! There are no ambushes in the canyon ahead!" A Kumogakure Anbu agent appeared at A's side to deliver the report.

"You're sure it's clear?" A asked again, his voice stern.

The Anbu nodded with conviction. "We've checked thoroughly. The canyon's top and its exit—completely deserted."

"Yo! Yo! An empty canyon, no ambush in sight! The foolish Federation's about to see the light!" Killer Bee began freestyling on the spot.

"Damn it, Bee! Can you shut up for once?" A smashed his fist into his brother's head, slamming him straight into the rocks behind them.

"Move in four waves! First and second squads, cross the canyon and set up a defensive perimeter immediately. Cover the rest as they follow!" A barked his orders. Though he often seemed reckless, his strategy was anything but careless.

Up in the clouds, Gakuya appeared in his true form, cloaked in his usual white robes. He watched as two thousand shinobi split from the main force, preparing to advance through the canyon first.

"So the Raikage isn't completely brain-dead after all," Gakuya said with a light smirk. "Still, it makes no difference. No matter how many soldiers they send, they're all just cannon fodder."

His gaze sharpened. The once-dark pupils in his eyes transformed into brilliant orbs of blue, swirling like galaxies—the Tenseigan.

A surge of blazing azure chakra exploded from his body, and behind him, seven Truth-Seeking Orbs emerged, glowing with mysterious light. In an instant, he entered the Tenseigan Chakra Mode.

Nature energy in the air began to swirl around him, drawn to his presence. He activated Sage Mode once more, and the two powerful forces fused together seamlessly. The pressure radiating from him swept away the surrounding clouds like a hurricane.

The seven Truth-Seeking Orbs at his back spun rapidly. They began to merge, compressing into a single, colossal orb.

A dazzling burst of light erupted from Gakuya's body. He raised the massive orb in one hand, as if he held the entire world in his grasp.

Slowly, his figure began to rise into the sky—he would stand above the heavens themselves.

Down below, a few shinobi caught sight of the spectacle. To them, Gakuya's silhouette had merged with the sun.

"The sun… it turned blue!"

"It's really blue!"

Hearing the shouts of his subordinates, Raikage A raised a hand to shield his eyes and looked toward the sky.

"No… someone's up there!" Several sensory-type ninja immediately sensed something was off.

High above, Gakuya lifted the massive orb of chakra. A pillar of golden light shot into the heavens, tearing through the sky.

Kumogakure's troops stood frozen in awe as they witnessed the terrifying sight—a beam of golden light ripping the sky in two.

"I will now play the song of the apocalypse... Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion!" Gakuya's voice boomed in every shinobi's ear as the orb of golden light in his hand fell toward them like divine judgment.

A colossal golden pillar of light descended from the heavens, cutting through the canyon like a blade of retribution. The air itself was shredded by the beam's passage, shrieking as it tore through space.

The two thousand Kumogakure shinobi crossing the canyon had no time to scream, no time for fear—their bodies were instantly obliterated.

But Gakuya wasn't finished.

The golden beam continued its path toward the Kumogakure encampment.

The earth split apart like parchment under its force. A massive fissure opened up, and dust and debris shot skyward like an explosion.

"Scatter! Move!" Raikage A roared.

"Run!" shouted others. They didn't even wait for orders—faced with a scene straight out of the end times, the Kumogakure troops broke formation and scattered in all directions.

Some tried to resist.

But it was already too late.

The golden beam, unstoppable and absolute, swept through everything. The Kumogakure camp was annihilated in an instant. Screams echoed briefly before fading into silence. Those who tried to fight back were swept into the inferno—reduced to ash in moments.

With a single attack, over two thousand shinobi were erased from existence.

Raikage A's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched the catastrophic destruction unfold before him. He couldn't believe it—this was the power of just one man?

Above, Gakuya hovered in the sky, his expression calm as he surveyed the aftermath. There was no pity in his eyes—only cold detachment for the enemy below.

He descended slowly.

Raikage A, Killer Bee, Yugito Nii, Cee, Darui, and Dodai surrounded him cautiously, attempting to box him in.

Dodai's eyes narrowed. He'd seen this man before—years ago, perhaps?

Inside Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails stirred. Like the Four-Tails before it, it recognized the orbs behind Gakuya.

"Those are Truth-Seeking Orbs... I never thought I'd see them again in this era."

"Bee," the Eight-Tails said grimly, "You can't win. That man's black spheres—they're called Truth-Seeking Orbs. I once saw them behind the Sage of Six Paths himself."

"Who are you?" Raikage A asked, forcing down his fury. "A ninja of the Federation? Why fight for them? You'd be better off—"

Gakuya cut him off coldly. "I am Hyuga Gakuya. Under orders from Mokushu's Head of State, I've come to repel the Kumogakure invasion. If your forces persist in this path... then I will have no choice but to end this through force."

Dodai's eyes flew open in realization. He remembered now—this was the same man from ten years ago during the Konoha-Kumo peace talks. A former Konoha Anbu. A traitor from the Hyuga Clan, the one who orchestrated the clan's downfall.

He had disappeared for years... and now, he'd returned in terrifying form.

...

Gakuya didn't wait for a response. He rose into the sky and flew off, vanishing in an instant—uncaring whether the Raikage replied or not.

The remaining Kumogakure shinobi could only stare in horror at his retreating form. Their hearts were seized by despair and fear.

Was this... truly the power of a single ninja?

This overwhelming force was beyond comprehension. No one could imagine a shinobi reaching such heights of strength.

What had just happened felt like a nightmare. Only the ruined earth beneath their feet reminded them that it was all painfully real.

"Lord Raikage... should we continue the advance?" one shinobi asked hesitantly.

Raikage A's face twisted in fury and helplessness. He had never felt so powerless. This wasn't a battle—it was a slaughter.

Since becoming Raikage, he'd never experienced anything like this.

"Retreat!"

"Yes, sir!"

Once the troops began to disperse, Killer Bee walked up beside his brother, a rare look of seriousness on his face.

"Big Bro," he said solemnly, "Little Eight told me those black spheres behind Gakuya are called Truth-Seeking Orbs. He only ever saw them behind the Sage of Six Paths."

"What?! You mean... that guy has power equal to the Sage of Six Paths?" A asked in disbelief.

"I'll ask Eight again," Bee replied.

After a moment of silence, Bee's expression turned grim.

"At the very least... we can't beat him. Not even scratch him."

Raikage A sat down heavily on a nearby rock. He didn't doubt the Eight-Tails' judgment—not when it had seen more than any of them ever could.
