Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: The Five Kage Summit Begins!

Doujin Artist: What does the warden checking rooms have to do with your little performance? Just say you're running away, at least come up with a better excuse!

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Sigh… I really hope Gin can stop making things up on the spot like this.

Doujin Artist: Not gonna happen. That habit is in his bones. The only way to fix it is to rebuild him from scratch or wipe his memory completely.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Oh, losing memories! I think that actually happened to Gin in the story at one point.

Doujin Artist: Yeah, that did happen. But in the end, they helped him get his memories back. What a shame.

Curly-haired Guy: Cut it out already, damn it! If I really lost my memories, I wouldn't even recognize you guys anymore! Isn't that a pretty tragic thing?

Doujin Artist: No.

Shark-Faced Guy: No.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: No.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: No.

Curly-haired Guy: No your ass! Are you guys just broken record players? Is this what human nature is now? I curse you all with diarrhea! Upside-down diarrhea!

Doujin Artist: That kind of high-level skill? Only you could pull that off.

Curly-haired Guy: Shut up! Your world is about to fall into chaos, and you still have the mood to chat here? Don't you feel even a little guilty?

Doujin Artist: Why should I feel guilty? I'm not a ruler, and I'm not some chosen hero. Even if the world does fall apart, it's not something I can stop. My abilities are limited. All I can do is protect the people I care about.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Yeah, that's enough.

Curly-haired Guy: Damn it, you didn't fall for it? Aren't people your age supposed to be full of dreams and want to save the world?

Doujin Artist: That middle school phase is long gone, thanks. Besides, chatting in the group isn't necessarily useless. If I work hard enough to collect enough points to level up the group, I can just cling to Anzen-san's leg for safety.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Same here. That Absolute Ability Project testing ground is way too hard to find. Anzen-san, please come save us!

Amegakure Village's Angel: I think Anzen-san is still thinking about that Makoto Ito situation. @This is an Actor

Konan glanced at Aizen, who was sitting in front of the monitor. She quickly noticed that his focus wasn't on the screen at all.

After being tagged, Aizen turned his head slightly to look at Konan and replied in the chat: Was I that obvious?

Amegakure Village's Angel: I can't think of anything else that would make you look so deep in thought.

Curly-haired Guy: Hey, you two are literally sitting right across from each other. Why are you still using the group chat to talk? Are you showing off or something?

Doujin Artist: You don't get it, do you? This is what we call atmosphere. But since that scumbag Makoto is already dead, that means the trail is completely cold, right? What's left to think about?

This is an Actor: Just making some connections, that's all.

Both Aizen and Anzen had always been the kind of people who were curious about the unknown.

Makoto Ito's death had clearly sparked his curiosity, making him think about things like interdimensional invasions, supernatural awakenings, or even zombie viruses.

After all, in the web novels from his past life, this kind of world-ending disaster was a common trope.

Of course…

It wasn't necessarily some big disaster happening in School Days. It could've just been a one-off case. Or maybe some traveler from another world who hated Makoto Ito found a weird way to kill him. That wasn't impossible either.

The problem was that there was too little information to be sure.

Forget it.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Aizen refocused on the screen in front of him. "Oh? It's starting already?"

In the eastern district of Amegakure, there was a luxurious mansion.

It used to belong to Hanzo, but now, Pain had taken it over as the new base for the Akatsuki. The Five Kage Summit was also being held here.

At this moment.

Around the large round table in the center, Pain, Tsunade, Oonoki, A, Rasa, and Karatachi Yagura were seated in order, while their bodyguard ninjas stood on either side.

"This used to be Hanzo's place, right?" Oonoki looked around and was the first to speak. "Where is that old man?"

"He's dead. Just this morning," Pain replied in a cold voice.

Hanzo… is dead?

Tsunade was momentarily stunned, her eyes dazed.

She could still remember how powerless she felt when facing him back then. And now, the man who once made her feel so helpless was gone.

It was a strange feeling.

As for how Danzo had died, no one here was foolish enough to not figure it out. The man with the legendary Rinnegan truly lived up to his reputation.

After a brief silence, Jiraiya spoke with a complicated expression. "Are you still unable to let go of what happened back then, Nagato?"

Clearly, he had already learned Pain's true identity through certain channels. He also understood why he and Konan had become who they were now.

Nagato didn't answer his question. He simply said in a cold tone, "I am Pain now."

"Nagato, you—"

Bang.

Before Jiraiya could finish, a loud slam interrupted him.

The Fourth Raikage, using his only remaining left hand, slammed the table hard and grinned. "I didn't come here to play some stupid role-playing game with you all. I don't care who you are! I'm only here for one thing—to deal with Aizen Sosuke!"

He had barely survived Aizen's Hado attack back then, saved only by Tsunade's healing jutsu. But he had lost his entire right arm forever.

"Speaking of Aizen Sosuke, wasn't he kind of like the Fifth Hokage's student?" Oonoki turned his gaze to Tsunade, implying something. "Doesn't Konohagakure owe us an explanation?"

"Sure."

Tsunade suddenly stood up and looked around at everyone. "But before that, you all should compensate for the damage done to Konohagakure first. Even if Aizen misled you, invading the village was still your own decision, wasn't it?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the entire hall grew tense.

"Are you all planning to fight among yourselves?"

At that moment, a young man standing behind Pain, wearing a deep red cloak, suddenly spoke. "Go ahead, I'm sure Aizen would love to see that happen."

Instantly.

Everyone, including Tsunade, turned their eyes toward the young man. "Who are you?"

"Ah, my bad."

The red-cloaked young man smiled and adjusted his round glasses. "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Yakushi Kabuto, and I'm someone who knows a bit about all this."
