Teresia's POV
The first quarterly exam ended in success. I admit that some of them were difficult, but I still passed my exams and got to relax afterwards.
When the night came and all the students were asleep, I was planning to do a short exercise in the Square. As I approached the arena, I heard feint footsteps coming from the inside.
'Strange. I thought all students were asleep already.'
In the middle of the Square and beneath the gentle glow of the moonlight, Arthur moved with sharpness like a predator. His cyan eyes were deep in gaze while it radiated brightly under the moon's light. As he moved, his brown hair was also dancing in rhythm, following his movements as if mirroring them.
Then he stopped to take a breath. His muscles were dripping sweat all over the ground while he exhales a puff of smoke due to the heat he was exuding.
His eyes found mine as I stared in awe, watching the man far from the distance.
"Teresia? Why are you still awake?" He asked. A smile quickly appeared on his lips as he said my name. My name.
"I thought all the students were asleep already, so I wanted to exercise for a bit before heading to bed." I said. I approached Arthur but stopped in a certain distance. "Why are you still here?" I asked this time.
He chuckled. "I was just doing some training. I thought that I could use some time to exercise before heading to bed. And since no one uses this place that much at night, I thought of heading here instead." He replied.
Silence followed after. The only sound that we can hear was the gust of wind and our heartbeats. 'Why is my heart beating so fast whenever I'm near him? What is this feeling that I've been experiencing whenever I see him?'
After a few seconds of silence, Arthur grabbed a wooden sword using Force Hands and handed it to me.
"Do you want to spar?" He asked while he swung his wooden weapon to warmup his arms.
I grabbed the hilt of the sword and swung it back as well in front of me. "Of course."
~~~~~
The two of us stepped in the middle of the Square. Just in case, we also activated the Protection System of the arena so that we can go all out without waking everyone up in the quiet night. A green dome appeared around the Square, shielding all our attacks that might go stray to the outside, while silencing the place to not wake everyone up.
"I'm just letting you know that I won't go easy on you, princess." He said with a smirk.
"Good. I will hate you if you go easy on me, knight." I pointed my blade to Arthur.
We both activated our Body Enhancement, coating our blades with Force to double the power and sharpness of our attacks. We also imbued Force to our body to shield us from each other's attacks and to make our weight light to move swiftly.
I conjured Lightning Lance and multiplied their numbers until they were covering the whole sky. The Lightning Lances descended with great speed, leaving no gaps between them for the opponents to move into.
Alas, Arthur still managed to dodge the rain of Lightning Lances while using Force Hands to sweep those he couldn't dodge. While he was busy dodging the Lightning Lances, I conjured Thunder Orb.
A golden orb sparking with electricity appeared on my palm. I hurled the orb towards Arthur. Before he could react to it, I released Shock Wave that sent electricity coursing through the floor, stunning him due to the high voltage of electricity.
I snapped my fingers, and the Thunder Orb exploded, releasing a wave of lightning that supposed to stun and kill my enemies. But since he was not my enemy and we were just sparring, I decreased the voltage while still keeping it strong.
To my surprise, despite being stunned, Arthur was able to move in struggle. He roared in his might while releasing a pulse of Force around his vicinity, cancelling the electricity around him. He bolted forward towards my way, but I conjured Lightning Force to slow him down.
Lightning Force is a skill similar to Force Hands. While Force Hands are invisible, tendrils of golden lightning appeared from my fingertips, connecting themselves to my opponent. Once they linked, my opponent slows down.
However, I felt a strong grip over my body. Soon, my body pulled itself towards Arthur. As I got near him, he swung his wooden sword at me. I quickly countered his Force Hands by releasing another Shock Wave. He let go of his Force Hands but never stopped swinging his blade.
Our swords clashed and each impact our blade makes, it released a powerful gust of wind that pushed everything around us.
I admit that Arthur was powerful than me in terms of physical strength. I conjured Lightning Lance above him, and it descended so quickly that I almost thought I was about to kill him for real. But Arthur turned around and he parried the lance away.
Before he could face me, I used Force Hands to push him away, which he countered with his own Force Hand. While our Forces clashed for dominance, I released Shock Wave, catching him off guard. But that was a feint.
I quickly replaced my Force Hands into Lightning Force, slowing him down and bringing him down to his knees. I bolted forward, and before my blade could hit him, he dropped his weapon and raised his hands in defeat.
"I lost." He declared and I stopped, my face just inches away from his. From this distance, I could feel the heat he was radiating and also his warm breath.
