Yellaine, a devoted maid and wife to the brave soldier Aqurion, found herself waiting anxiously for his friend Calguas to arrive. Aqurion had entrusted Calguas with the task of taking care of Yellaine while he embarked on a mission to capture Nia'le Tobletone. Unaware of her husband's true intentions, Yellaine eagerly awaited Calguas' arrival at their home.
Hours passed, and as the day turned into night, Yellaine's hope began to dwindle. With each passing minute, she felt a sense of disappointment creeping in. Finally, at 11:55 PM, she made the decision to go back inside and lock the front door, resigning herself to the fact that Calguas would not be coming.
As she entered her room, Yellaine decided to freshen up and change into something special. She drew a bath, allowing the warm water to soothe her weary body. Afterward, she carefully selected a beautiful lingerie set, a gift she had been saving for a special occasion. Holding it up to herself in front of the mirror, she whispered, "I wanted to wear this when Aqurion came back, but it may take some time. I hope he likes it."
With a mix of anticipation and uncertainty, Yellaine knelt down beside her bed to pray for her husband's safety. Unbeknownst to her, Calguas observed her from the corner of his eyes. His gaze lingered on her choice of lingerie, judging her for wearing a see-through garment without a bra, only clad in her underwear. Though Yellaine remained oblivious to his silent scrutiny, Calguas formed his own opinions about her based on this brief encounter.
Completing her prayers, Yellaine rose to her feet and climbed into bed, her mind filled with thoughts of Aqurion. When suddenly Calguas's voice sliced through the air, his words dripping with disdain and disapproval. "Is that the attire befitting one's prayers? Has Aqurion's teachings on ethics, behavior, and propriety eluded you?" His tone carried a weight of judgment that sent shivers down Yellaine's spine.
Startled by his sudden presence, Yellaine's eyes widened in disbelief. The door had been firmly closed, and she had taken great care to lock it. How had this enigmatic figure found his way into her sanctuary, her private refuge? Confusion and bewilderment danced in her eyes as she grappled with the inexplicable circumstances that now enveloped her.
Seeking solace and protection, Yellaine instinctively wrapped her trembling form in the comforting embrace of her blanket. Her voice quivered as she demanded answers, her words laced with a mixture of fear and curiosity. "Who are you? And what brings you here?" Her voice trailed off, lost in the labyrinth of her own uncertainty.
Calguas's gaze remained cold and unyielding as he met Yellaine's eyes. There was no trace of warmth or familiarity in his demeanor. His response was as blunt as the icy wind that seeped through the cracks of the window. "Dress yourself swiftly. We have matters to attend to," he commanded, his voice brooking no argument.
Caught off guard by his callousness, Yellaine hesitated before obeying his directive. Before she rose from her bed, a flicker of doubt ignited within her. With a voice tinged with hope and skepticism, she cautiously probed, "Are you the friend my husband spoke of? The one he held in such high regard?" Her words hung in the air, awaiting an answer that would either shatter her doubts or confirm her suspicions.
The mere mention of the word "friend" seemed to ignite a fire within Calguas, fueling his anger and disdain. His eyes blazed with an intensity that sent a chill down Yellaine's spine. "Friend?" he hissed, his voice dripping with venom. "I will never befriend a traitor," he spat, his words laced with a potent mixture of contempt and betrayal.
Confusion and disbelief washed over Yellaine, leaving her questioning the very foundation of her trust. What had transpired between her husband and this mysterious interloper that had sparked such animosity? Before she could delve deeper into the mystery, Calguas dismissed her inquiries with a dismissive wave of his hand. "Nevermind. Just dress yourself, for we must depart."
A seed of doubt took root in Yellaine's mind, sprouting tendrils of suspicion. Was Calguas truly who he claimed to be? Or was he a cunning impostor, masquerading as her husband's trusted confidant? The uncertainty gnawed at her, fueling a growing sense of unease.
With a mix of caution and determination, Yellaine meticulously loaded her gun, her hands steady despite the tempest of emotions swirling within her. A sweet, deceptive smile graced her lips as she rose from the bed, her eyes fixed upon Calguas. Surprisingly, he averted his gaze, a flicker of respect for her vulnerability evident in his actions.
In that fleeting moment of vulnerability, Yellaine seized the opportunity that fate had presented. Slowly, deliberately, she pointed the gun at Calguas's head, her voice laced with a potent blend of anger and resolution. "I could have sworn I locked the door. To be honest, doubts have clouded my mind regarding your claim of being my husband's friend. Now, reveal your true identity. How did you break in? Are you truly a friend, or just a common burglar?" Her words hung in the air, a challenge to the enigmatic figure before her.
Calguas remained calm and effortlessly restrained Yellaine, gripping her arms tightly without exerting force on her head. "Drop the loaded gun," he commanded.
Yellaine defiantly responded, "Oh really, you want me to obey you? I'm fighting for my life here!"
Calguas confidently asserted, "Your gun wouldn't hurt me. Solid, liquid, or gas, there is no difference for us. Now, drop it."
Yellaine, feeling disgusted, reluctantly let go of her gun, aiming it to drop on Calguas' foot. However, Calguas didn't flinch, maintaining a stern gaze. Yellaine sat on the bed, crossing her legs, and questioned him, "What? I thought you said solid, liquid, or gas, there's no difference for us. Then why do you have that long face? Do you feel pain? Are you going to endure that pain?"
Calguas walked away without facing her and replied, "Aqurion asked me to pick you up because he's up to something. Now, put on some clothes because we're leaving."
Yellaine was taken aback and apologized. She remembered her husband's description of Calguas as a cold and crude person, and his advice to confirm if someone was his real friend by observing if they looked at her from the corner of their eyes. Yellaine apologized, but Calguas brushed it off and simply instructed her to wear appropriate clothing. Confused, Yellaine couldn't understand what he meant since she was already wearing clothes. However, when she looked down, she realized she was only in her lingerie and underwear. Shocked, she screamed at him and demanded that he leave. Calguas coldly stared at her and responded, "Only Eve is allowed to be naked in front of a man. But that was before. Now, why are you wearing nothing? Are you trying to be the whore of Babylon?"
"Excuse me! Hey, listen and listen good. You barged into my room without knocking or anything, and now you're calling me a whore of Babylon just because I'm wearing normal lingerie! Okay, we don't wear bras when we sleep because it's more comfortable, but it's not just me, all women do. So, are you going to call all women 'whores of Babylon' because of that?"
Calguas retorted, "A coated gold ring is nothing but fake jewelry. It doesn't cost much, and only cheap people wear it. You are not a pure jewel, so if I were to possess you, I would be embarrassed in front of everyone. That's why I'd rather discard you and never wear you again."
Yellaine exclaimed, "Hey, what? Are you judging me based on what I'm wearing? Well, then you're nothing but a judgmental person. You don't even know me!"
"Do I need to taste a fruit to know if it's rotten or not when I can simply see it? You need to be pure inside and out, physically and spiritually. The word is right there, but people lack the knowledge to understand. Even if you can't comprehend what the 1,602 pages say, we don't call you dumb, just immature. But are you going to remain like that forever? No one can be saved by ignorance, and knowledge is a gift. If you don't have the knowledge to understand what the 1,602 pages say, then I pity you. Because you not only lack knowledge, but also salvation."
Yellaine was amazed by Calguas' words and understood his message clearly. Suddenly, Calguas began to emit a glowing light, but before Yellaine could fully process what was happening, she lost consciousness. She had no memory of that moment until now.
Now, Yellaine works as Calguas' maid in his mansion. However, after their initial conversation, he never allowed himself to be seen by her. He introduced himself under a different name, and the only thing she remembered was that he was her husband's friend.
Yellaine was diligently cleaning the living room when the shrill sound of the ringing phone disrupted the silence. She hurriedly picked it up, assuming it was a call for her master, but to her surprise, it was for her. A soldier's voice echoed through the receiver, urging her to stay calm and not panic. Yellaine's heart raced as she wondered why the military was suddenly calling her. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself and listened attentively to the soldier's words. However, her grip on the phone weakened, and she dropped to her knees when she heard the devastating news the soldier on the other end informed her that her husband was among those killed by the Demon girl.
Tears streamed down Yellaine's face as she grieved and mourned the loss of her beloved husband. Meanwhile, Calguas stood in the corner, silently observing her anguish. He wore a mask to conceal his identity, ensuring that he wouldn't be recognized or implicated in any potential repercussions.
"Yellaine, I'm sorry for your loss. I overheard your conversation, and I—" Calguas began, his voice filled with sympathy.
"Why? Why did this have to happen?" Yellaine interrupted, her voice trembling with sorrow and anger.
Calguas knelt down, holding Yellaine's trembling hands in his own. He assured her that he would take care of her and that she didn't need to worry about anything. Deep down, Calguas felt a sense of guilt knowing that Tassa, the one who had killed her husband and numerous other military personnel, was living under the same roof. He made sure that Yellaine would never encounter Tassa in his presence, fearing that she would alert the military and have her captured.
However, it was too late. Yellaine had already seen Tassa in Calguas' room, and when she saw the newspaper articles detailing the atrocities committed by the Demon girl, anger and sadness consumed her. She couldn't believe that the person responsible for her husband's death was living in the same mansion. Without hesitation, she reached for her phone and dialed the military, reporting Tassa's presence and urging them to keep it confidential to avoid alerting her boss.
The military swiftly arrived, surrounding the area as they prepared to apprehend Tassa. Before entering Yellaine's room, they released a sleeping gas to render her unconscious. Tassa, still blind and unaware of the situation, could only hear the faint sounds of people and feel their presence like lingering ghosts.
"Who's in there? Ayamani, is that you? Hello, who's in there?" Tassa called out, her voice filled with confusion.
Within moments, the gas took its effect, causing Tassa to feel dizzy and intoxicated. She lost consciousness and collapsed onto the floor, allowing the soldiers to enter and carry her out of the room. They bound her hands and transported her to a waiting helicopter. As they left the mansion behind, General Musaka approached Yellaine, inquiring about her master's name and requesting a description of his face. However, Yellaine struggled to recall his face, as she had only ever seen him wearing a mask. She informed the general that she couldn't provide any useful information, keeping her master's identity a secret.
Once the questioning was over, the military instructed Yellaine to leave the mansion for her own safety. They warned her of potential consequences since she had reported Tassa's presence. Yellaine hastily packed her belongings, casting a final sorrowful glance at the mansion. She felt a profound sense of guilt for betraying her master, to whom she owed everything. Despite her conflicted emotions, she couldn't bear to stay in a place where a murderer, someone who had taken her husband's life was harbored by her master, who was also his friend. Without leaving a note or saying goodbye, Yellaine departed, leaving behind only the possessions her master had given her.
Boarding a fast train, Yellaine's thoughts were consumed by Tassa. She felt a mix of sadness and guilt, clenching her fists as tears streamed down her face. "So, this is the justice that my husband and all the military deserved. I hope you're all happy now, resting in heaven," she whispered through her sobs. In that moment, Yellaine couldn't discern whether her tears were shed for her husband's justice or out of pity for Tassa after reporting her to the military.
Tassa was carried in the helicopter, accompanied by military personnel tasked with restraining her if necessary, one soldier couldn't help but express his awe and fascination. "So, she is a ferocious person, responsible for all those gruesome crimes. How abhorrent, how appalling... yet, when you look closer, how beautiful she is," he gasped, his words tinged with both admiration and horror. Another soldier glared at him, shaking his head in disbelief. "What beauty are you talking about? All I can see is a murderer, a savage... and an enchantress with breathtaking beauty, like that of a very innocent maiden," he added, captivated by Tassa's appearance.
After being transported to a prison facility, Tassa slowly regained consciousness, finding herself in an unfamiliar environment. The military had brought her here to subdue her, to witness firsthand the extent of her lethal abilities. Five prisoners were selected to confront her, promised their freedom in exchange for beating her mercilessly. However, they drew the line at disfiguring her face, compromising with the military to spare her from such a fate. The prisoners took their chance to escape, putting up a show of beating her while secretly avoiding causing any significant harm. Tassa, blind and unaware of the situation, relied on Ayamani for guidance and understanding. The prisoners' blows landed, and when Tassa could no longer bear the pain, Lucille appeared though he made himself invisible to his beloved sister and cast a spell that took the prisoners' breath away, causing them to suffocate and die. The military, baffled by the sudden turn of events, couldn't comprehend how it had happened. They swiftly moved Tassa to a different room, where they subjected her to further torture.
Tassa pleaded with her tormentors to stop, her voice filled with desperation and anguish, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. She repeated her pleas over and over until her voice grew hoarse, enduring the relentless torture inflicted upon her. They refused to let her eat until she confessed to how she had killed so many people. Tassa cried and asked them what she had done to deserve such treatment, accepting the punishment for her actions against the military. Despite her suffering, she never attempted to shift blame onto anyone else.
In her moments of despair, Tassa murmured the names of Ayamani, Suman, and Xart, calling for their help and the assistance of her father. Lucille watched her silently, torn between wanting to intervene and fearing that any interference would only invite even more severe punishment upon her. He couldn't bear to leave her side, as she held a special place in his heart. Tassa found it impossible to sleep, tormented both physically and emotionally. She had endured unimaginable suffering within the confines of the military compound, yet she somehow found the strength to keep going, her mind still sharp and determined.
Unbeknownst to Calguas, Tassa had already been captured, as he continued to pretend to assist Ixartxist in locating her. Calguas questioned Ixartxist's relentless pursuit, urging him to let Tassa go and find another girl instead. Ixartxist shot him a piercing glare, his determination unwavering. "I would if I could, but I can't afford to lose her, not at this point," Ixartxist replied with a hint of desperation.
Outside their room, Vilyn eavesdropped on their conversation, her curiosity piqued. She took a deep breath before entering the room and greeting Ixartxist. However, he pretended not to see or hear her, causing Vilyn to snort in annoyance as she defiantly sat on Calguas's bed.
"I envy you, Calguas. I envy you so much," Vilyn confessed, her arms folded and her gaze averted. Calguas, sensing her longing, approached her with a pillow to place on her lap. He then covered her legs with his blanket, offering her a comforting gesture as he inquired about the source of her envy.
"Why would a half-demon, who is free to do as she pleases, envy someone like me?" Calguas asked, his voice filled with genuine curiosity.
Calguas gently draped the blanket over Vilyn's shoulder and head, creating a cocoon-like sanctuary for her. Vilyn looked up at him, her eyes fixed on his face as she prepared to reveal her feelings. "I envy you for being able to sleep near Ixartxist, even if you are not sharing the same bed. At least your bed is next to his, and I envy you for that. I had hoped to—" Vilyn's words were abruptly interrupted by Ixartxist's cold and dismissive voice.
"If you have nothing of value to contribute, Vilyn, you can leave. Your insignificant words are not needed here," Ixartxist icily declared, cutting off any further conversation.
Vilyn closed her eyes, turning her gaze away from Ixartxist. She crossed her legs and folded her arms, a pout forming on her lips. "How sad. I suppose I am now obliged to assist you in finding your 'obsession.' But your behavior continues to be atrocious," Vilyn retorted, her words filled with a mix of frustration and resignation.
