Elena quickly used the back of her palm to wipe off her tears as she rose from the floor. It was Xavier and she didn't want him to know she was crying, even though she was already certain that he felt her pain.
Slowly, she opened the door and then flashed him a bright smile. "I needed to get away from the crowd. You know, get a breather?" She chuckled softly even though her mind was still a chaos.
Heck, how did she forget about Enzo? How did she forget that he was also a powerful Alpha and that he would attend this ball? If she had known earlier, she would have blocked him from having access and all of these wouldn't have happened.
Xavier narrowed his eyes, definitely not buying the fake smile. "You were crying. Why?" He entered the room, scanning the place to see if anyone was inside with Elena. When he saw no one, he turned to face her. "Who made you cry? Tell me and I'll deal with the unfortunate wolf."
"I'm fine Xavier, just a little overwhelmed." Xavier's frown deepened.
