"Humm... That's weird...." Lisa said, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she looked around the dining hall.
Everyone in the dining hall was surprised too. Normally, Jonathan and Joshua never got involved with issues like this, they were always minding their own business and never got into troubles. A murmur of confusion rippled through the students.
Sophia kept staring at Jonathan for some reason, lost in her thoughts. Her gaze were intense, it seems she was questioning him with her gaze..."Wait!... don't tell me..." Sophia's eyes went wide. "I have been going after him since last term, and he has never shown any interest in me, and now he was willing to get into a fight for a girl he barely knew? No... no, that's not possible. He can't really be..."
"What is going on here!!!"
An angry elderly voice echoed in the hall, shattering Sophia's thoughts and bringing her back to reality. Everyone flinched sudden loud tone. It was Mr. Benjamin, the math's teacher.
Gabriel shook off Joshua's hand. Jerry and Tyler, who were almost about to engage in a fight, let go of each other's collars. Fatty almost peed his pants; that voice earlier really scared the crab out of him. His face was pale and his eyes wide with fear.
"I can see that the school is overfeeding you guys these days, if not, you people wouldn't have the guts to be pointing fingers at each other while eating. But don't worry, I will surely see to it. All of you should get back to your classes now!".....Mr. Benjamin shouted in the hall, and everybody began to leave the hall one after the other as they continue muttering under their breath. ....... ........
TWO HOURS LATER
The school had dismissed, and students were already making their way towards the exit.
"You lucky thing! No, I should call you the new queen of Springfield Highschool!" Jennifer's excited voice rang out. She grabbed Vivian's arm and squeezed it tightly.
"Hun..? What did you call me?" Vivian was swept off her feet with the sudden queen title she just received out of nowhere. She looked at Jennifer in bewilderment.
"What did you even know? The two handsome and most popular guys in school came to your rescue in the presence of everyone! Don't you understand what it means?" Jennifer said, her eyes wide with excitement as she gestured emphatically.
"I think you are overreacting. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate how they stepped in considering that the Gabriel guy is a bully, but you are making it sound somehow. Isn't that the normal thing any other person would have done?" Vivian said to Jennifer as they continued to walk.
"Aiiiiiiya.....you are driving me crazy!" Jennifer said almost pulling her hair out in frustration.
"You don't understand this simple thing! Who would have stepped in? Don't you see how people were running away not to get involved with those bullies? And besides, ever since I've known them, they have never stepped in to help anyone before! You are the first person! And just look at Joshua, the way he was looking at you when he said those words to Gabriel, I bet he must have had his eyes on you. And Jonathan too was staring at you with passion in his eyes...ohh God, this is too much..." Jennifer said, almost going crazy in excitement, jumping up and down slightly.
"Between Jonathan and Joshua, who are you going to choose?" Jennifer said with a wide grin on her face, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Vivian shook her head as she increased her pace and walked ahead of Jennifer, who was still doing her matchmaking Thing.
"Where are you going?... wait for me!!" Jennifer screamed in frustration as She hurried to catch up, her voice echoing down the street.
......
.......
Jonathan and Joshua were spotted going home together as usual. Jerry and Fatty were following behind them; Jerry's face wasn't looking good for some reasons. His expression was dark and gloomy.
"Stop acting like that. Isn't it better as Mr. Benjamin came and settled the whole thing? No one got into a fight or injured".... Fatty said, trying to calm him down, But Fatty's words infuriated the crazy fellow instead.
"Settle my ass!... I would prefer if he hadn't shown his ugly face earlier! I would have beaten the sht out of that b*stard!" Jerry said in anger.
"Are you sure you can beat that guy up?" Fatty asked, his voice laced with doubt.
"Of course, I can even deal with five of them at a time! Why are you even asking me that? Do you wanna try? I can prove it to you here and now..." Jerry said as he cracked his knuckles with a menacing look in his eyes.
"No....no...no...you are the strongest!" Fatty said with a nervous look on his face and took a couple of steps back as he raised his two hands in defeat.
...... .......
"What do you think about her?" Joshua asked, a thoughtful expression on his face as they walked.
"Who?" Jonathan replied, looking around absently.
"Vivian, the new girl," Joshua responded with a smile.
"Mmm.... she's not bad." Jonathan replied a casual.
"Just look at you! Stop acting like an ice cube, or else you are going to remain single for the rest of your life!" Joshua said, teasing him with a playful nudge.
"As if you are the one to talk," Jonathan sneered at him. "And I think you should be worrying about the upcoming basketball game between you guys and Mainland Academy instead of getting worked up with my romantic life."
"Yup.... that reminds me, tomorrow is Saturday, right? The gamemaster called for training in the evening afternoon tomorrow.... I wish I could stay out of that training. He's only good at shouting and screaming at me, whether it's my fault or not. I'm just tired of him," Joshua lamented, annoyance annoyance plastered across his face.
"That's your problem, not mine," Jonathan casually waved it off.
Springfield Highschool and Mainland Academy had a basketball match coming next week, and Joshua was the team captain. He was the best player as far as Springfield Highschool was concerned; no one had been able to outplay him. This was where he got his field name, "the hitman," because of his exceptional skill of scoring.
"You are coming with me tomorrow, right?" Joshua asked with anticipation in his eyes, looking at Jonathan hopefully.
"No.... I'm not coming. I have a lot of things to do at home." Jonathan shook his head firmly.
"Don't be like that, Jonathan! Seeing you cheering from the sideline will surely boost my spirit," Joshua said while looking at Jonathan for a better response.
Jonathan raised his head as he gave him a suspicious look. "Do I look like your girlfriend? Wait, don't tell me you are interested in me?" Jonathan said as his eyes went wide in shock, and he quickly brought both of his hands to cover his chest.
"I'm going to kill you!..." Joshua said in anger as he chased after Jonathan. The two continued to run as their laughter resounded across the street.
IT SOON TURNED DARK.
Vivian was with her mom in the kitchen making their dinner. Her father and her little brother were sitting in the living room watching TV. The sounds of the television drifted into the kitchen.
Soon, food was done, and Vivian began to serve it on the dining table. After she was done putting things in order, she called her dad and little brother over to the dining table.
"Dad.... Millan, come let's eat," she said and took her seat on one of the chairs.
"Alright..." her dad responded happily. Millan put the remote down. "Let's eat, ahh... Fredrick said to his son.
"No... let me finish watching this one first...." Millan responded, a bit displeased, his eyes still glued to the screen.
"Millan, come on, the food will get cold, and it will no longer be good for your health," Fredrick said, trying to coax his millan. He gently took the remote from him and carried him up.
"Ahh.." Millan screamed after being lifted up suddenly by his father. He kicked his legs in protest.
"Hahaha... hahaha..." Fredrick laughed at his son's reaction.
"Dad... put me down, put me down!"
Millan continued to struggle in his father's grasp, but it was useless.
His father finally brought him to the dining table and made him sit before taking a seat too.
"You are always making a fuss," Vivian said rolling her eyes at her brother's antics.
"None of your concern..." Millan said while sticking his tongue out in mock.
"Yo...you.." Vivian said, a bit irritated.
"Hahaha... hahaha... it's okay.... it's okay... don't mind him..." Fredrick said with a short laugh, trying to ease the tension.
"Uhhhh, where is your mom?" He suddenly asked, looking around the dining room.
"She....sh..ould still be in the kitchen," Vivian said, unsure about her response, her voice hesitant.
"Am coming!!" Her mother's voice rang out from the Kitchen, and soon she appeared in the dining room with the last dish in her hand. She smiled warmly as she entered. She gently placed it on the table as she ruffled Millan's hair before taking her seat.
Soon, they dug in. As they were eating quietly, her mother's voice soon broke the silence.
"Ehh... Vivian, that reminds me, how was your first day in school today?" her mother suddenly asked as her gaze mate Vivian's.
