Chapter 83 - Seagod Island, Warning from the Sea Spirit Masters

After the three girls absorbed the immortal herbs, Yu Yuanzhen led the group in flight straight toward Seagod Island.

To avoid the Seagod's aura on the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud attracting the attention of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, they didn't travel by sea like the Shrek team in the original story. Instead, they flew directly from nearly ten thousand meters in the sky.

At such an altitude, even the most powerful beasts in the deep sea wouldn't notice them. And even if they did, they couldn't fly into the sky to attack Yu Tianming.

Though ten thousand meters sounds extreme, swans on Earth can fly at altitudes of 8,000 meters, and commercial aircraft typically cruise at 8,000–10,000 meters.

However, at this altitude, the oxygen is extremely thin. Combined with their high speed, the frigid wind could easily freeze a normal person solid. Ordinary people wouldn't survive long up here.

But Yu Tianming had exceptionally high resistance and had taken the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, so he wasn't afraid of the cold at all.

As for the three girls, Dugu Yan, Ah Zhu, and Ah Zhi, they trailed behind Yu Yuanzhen like kites, wrapped in the soul power of the Rank 97 Super Douluo, which allowed them to resist the freezing temperatures.

Their speed in the sky was far faster than traveling by ship—just like flying to the U.S. takes half a day, while sailing takes a month. This alone showed how efficient high-altitude flight was.

Yu Yuanzhen, Yu Tianming, and the three girls flew from Vast Sea City, and in just a day, they could already see the outline of Seagod Island in the distance.

Seagod Island wasn't a single landmass but a crescent-shaped archipelago made of many small islands.

The islands were arranged in a curious pattern—their land masses were interconnected, forming several circular formations, creating multiple "seas within the sea."

As they approached, Yu Tianming suddenly felt it becoming more and more difficult to fly, as if the air ahead had grown thick and sticky—like walking in water compared to walking on land.

Yu Yuanzhen, being a Super Douluo, also noticed the increased difficulty. He looked at Yu Tianming. "There seems to be some force ahead that's preventing us from flying through the sky."

"It's probably the Seagod's divine power trying to stop us from flying over the island," Yu Tianming said.

Yu Yuanzhen nodded. On the Douluo Continent, the concept of gods had existed for ages. Though they were mostly legends, only a divine power could explain such a far-reaching force that worked from a hundred miles away.

"Looks like we'll need to fly at low altitude over the sea from here. But that makes us vulnerable to attacks from sea beasts—could be dangerous."

He looked at the three girls behind them. With all of them being Soul Ancestors, if they encountered a hundred-thousand-year sea soul beast, it would be difficult for him to protect all four.

Upon hearing this, Yu Tianming took out the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud he carried with him. This was the perfect moment for its first skill, the Vast Sea Barrier, to shine.

When activated, the barrier could form a spherical shield to hide everyone inside.

It would repel seawater without being affected by water pressure and wouldn't float to the surface.

In the original story, Tang San used this exact skill to walk from the seabed to Seagod Island.

"This Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud can hide us. With the barrier up, even a hundred-thousand-year soul beast wouldn't be able to find us."

With that, Yu Tianming activated the first soul skill. A light-blue, translucent sphere instantly enveloped the group.

Seeing this, Yu Yuanzhen smiled. "Then I can rest easy about your safety."

As they slowly descended onto the water, Yu Tianming noticed over a dozen ten-thousand-year sea soul beasts swimming below them, and from over a hundred miles away, he could faintly sense a hundred-thousand-year beast.

The density of high-level soul beasts in this region was astounding. So this was the strength of Seagod Island?

Even Yu Yuanzhen, a Rank 97 Douluo, though lacking the wide-range detection of electromagnetic sense, could still detect the soul beasts in the water.

Yet none of the beasts noticed them—Yu Yuanzhen had to admire the capabilities of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud.

Even so, the presence of several fifty-thousand-year beasts swimming below them made everyone uneasy.

Especially Dugu Yan, Ah Zhu, and Ah Zhi, whose strength was no match for these creatures.

No one spoke. Instead, they silently sped up their flight.

Soon, they had traveled hundreds of meters and reached the concave center of the crescent-shaped archipelago.

Just a few kilometers away was dry land. Yu Yuanzhen looked at them with a trace of reluctance.

"My soul power is too high. It could alert the island's Title Douluos. You're almost at Seagod Island, so I'll stop here."

"Be careful, Grandpa. I'll return for sure."

"Tianming has the Seagod's token. The people of Seagod Island won't harm you without reason. If anything happens, contact me through the communication crystal."

With that, Yu Yuanzhen turned and flew off alone.

Since the three girls couldn't fly and Yu Tianming wasn't yet strong enough to lift them with his soul power, Dugu Yan clung to his neck, while Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi were held in his left and right arms.

Holding all three, Yu Tianming spread his massive wings and flew toward Seagod Island.

The moment they stepped onto the legendary island, they immediately felt something strange.

Not to mention the scenery, even the temperature was unusual.

It was already late autumn. Even with the ocean's moderating climate, the island should still be a bit chilly—especially since Seagod Island was even farther north than Heaven Dou City, comparable to Japan's Hokkaido.

Yet when they arrived, it felt like early summer—warm and refreshing.

Looking around, the island was lush and green. It felt like they had returned to the Douluo Continent, to the Star Dou Great Forest.

The beach sand was as fine and white as tiny crystals, shimmering silver under the sunlight.

Sky and sea blended together, seagulls soared, and the sky was a deep, clear blue.

Though the sea was only dozens of miles away, the difference in atmosphere was stark—startling, even.

Yu Tianming looked at the girls. "Everyone, get ready. Our real trial on Seagod Island is about to begin."

With that, he deactivated the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. The surrounding light screen vanished, and the four of them appeared on the beach as if out of thin air.

Without saying much, Yu Tianming led the way, with the three girls following close behind, stepping across the soft, cloud-like sand toward the island's interior.

Despite facing an unknown challenge, their hearts were full of excitement.

Yu Tianming had worked hard to reach this place and was mentally prepared for any test.

The three girls trusted his strength and felt no fear. In fact, they were oddly excited to face the island's trials with him.

Yu Tianming released his electromagnetic sense into the forest ahead, but only got a blurry read—he could only clearly sense within a ten-zhang radius of himself.

Even though he couldn't fully detect his surroundings, he said nothing. In this unfamiliar territory, confidence was what they needed most.

Revealing the lack of perception would only dampen morale and cause uncertainty.

The fresh, moist air was intoxicating, but Yu Tianming's mind was focused.

Just as he was about to step into the forest, a voice rang out from within.

"Do not try to explore with your spiritual power. This is Seagod Island, and everything here is protected by Lord Seagod."

Yu Tianming was stunned. Apparently, Seagod Island could not only detect Tang San's spiritual probes, but even his subtle electromagnetic sense.

As the voice faded, several figures suddenly leapt from the woods, blocking their path.

They all looked different, but shared one trait—their clothing.

The oldest appeared around forty, the youngest in their teens, but all wore pale yellow battle uniforms.

These yellow-clothed Sea Spirit Masters stood in a line, barring their way.

Yu Tianming had learned beforehand that clothing color on Seagod Island signified one's rank—just like soul rings: white, yellow, purple, black, and red.

The yellow robes indicated the second rank, just above the lowest white-robed level.

It was said that only the High Priest could wear red robes, while the Seven Sacred Pillars all wore black.

These yellow-robed Sea Spirit Masters looked at the group with surprise. They could sense Yu Tianming's spirit probing but couldn't figure out how the group had appeared so suddenly.

Yu Tianming stopped and smiled kindly. "We admire Seagod Island's reputation and wish to take the trials and join the island."

The middle-aged man at the lead scrutinized them, then looked at Ah Zhi and frowned. "We don't welcome you land-based soul masters. But if this young lady is willing, she may stay."

Dugu Yan blinked in confusion. "We haven't even released our martial souls. You can still tell we're land soul masters?"

The man replied coldly, "You may not notice, but we can. I don't know how you got on the island, but you'd best leave the way you came. If you die here, don't say I didn't warn you."

Yu Tianming stepped forward, pulling Dugu Yan back. "Isn't Seagod Island a place where anyone can take the trials? Why turn us away like this?"

"Hmph," the man snorted. "I'm doing this for your own good. Lord Seagod's trials are especially harsh on land soul masters. If you value your lives, leave. Don't overestimate yourselves and end up dead."

Yu Tianming and Dugu Yan exchanged a look, both gaining a bit of respect for the man.

But after all the effort it took to get here, how could he back down?

Yu Tianming smiled. "Senior, since we've come this far, we won't retreat. No matter the trial, we wish to give it a try."

The man frowned. "Once you accept the trial, there's no quitting halfway. Even if it means death. Your cultivation may be strong, but the Seagod's trials aren't determined by strength. They could be as easy as scooping up a handful of sand, or as hard as fighting a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. Are you sure?"

Yu Tianming knew the man was being kind, but he was determined. "You don't need to persuade us further. Please just take us to the trial."

The man gave him a deep look, then whispered to a young yellow-robed Sea Spirit Master beside him.

The young man nodded respectfully and ran off.

Their speech was strange, like the buzzing of a bee. Yu Tianming could only hear odd vibrations and had no idea what they said.

Afterward, the man turned to them. "I hope you don't regret this. Follow me."

With that, he led the yellow-robed Sea Spirit Masters into the forest.

If the beach air was moist and pure, the forest air was filled with the scent of nature.

Even here, the ground was full of Blue Silver Grass. One had to wonder if another Blue Silver Emperor might be born in this secluded place.

After walking out of the forest, the magnificent scene before them left even the worldly-wise group stunned.

What appeared before Yu Tianming and the others was an enormous pool that looked like an ocean within the ocean.

This "ocean within the ocean" was a perfectly circular body of water. The crystal-clear seawater was so transparent that they could see small marine creatures swimming within. Strangely, there didn't seem to be any sea soul beasts present.

At the center of the pool, the water was completely different from the rest—its depth was terrifying. The dark blue surface resembled a massive abyss, as if it could swallow everything whole.

And within that abyss stood a cylindrical pillar, around thirty meters in diameter.

The pillar was a brilliant ocean blue, and a coiling blue dragon was carved upon it. Its intricately detailed scales made it look as lifelike as a real dragon.

The part of the pillar exposed above the water was over twenty meters tall, radiating a strange, formless energy that pulsed out from its surface.
