Chapter 86 - The Trident Mark, Bo Saixi

The Divine Nine Trials were different from the Seven or Eight Trials. This was the inheritance of a God's position—it could only be undertaken by one person at a time.

With the Sea God's Nine Trials now assigned, and the Asura God's inheritance occupied by Tang Chen, who had passed the Eighth Trial, unless Tang Chen died, there was no chance of attempting the Asura God's Trials.

As for inheriting other second-tier divine positions, such as the God of War or the God of Speed, one could only become a Title Douluo as soon as possible to attract a deity's attention.

And self-creating a godhood?

Back in the day, the Sea God had spent a thousand years just to create his own godhood. For someone who could inherit one, why would they bother with creating one anew?

Thoughts flashed rapidly through Yu Tianming's mind, though only a few seconds passed in the outside world.

The red light on the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar had risen to 8/9, yet unlike Ah Zhu, it didn't stop immediately but instead beamed skyward.

The red glow lingered at this level, pulsing gently as though on the verge of further breakthrough.

Just as everyone held their breath in anticipation, the rippling red glow on the platform began to settle. Then another crimson beam erupted from the sacred platform, piercing straight into the sky.

Having received the top-tier Eighth Trial, Dugu Yan immediately sat cross-legged on the ground and closed her eyes in meditation.

Calm now, Yu Tianming saw Ah Zhi still absorbing her soul bone and walked straight up to Sea Dragon Douluo.

"Senior, please activate my trial."

By now, Sea Dragon Douluo had grown rather numb to all this and didn't say much, simply raising his hand toward Yu Tianming once more.

The Sea God's Light appeared over the sacred pillar for the third time.

But unlike the others, Yu Tianming's trial was clearly different. If other people's light beams changed color gradually, then his was jumping dramatically—blue, white, yellow, purple—all flashed by in the blink of an eye, almost dazzling to look at.

Even the shift from purple to black took only an instant. The black divine patterns then surged upward at a staggering speed.

Faster than even Dugu Yan's earlier trial.

Sea Dragon Douluo murmured inwardly, 'Another top-tier trial?'

As the guardian of the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar, even throughout a millennium of records across all the sacred pillars, there had never been a day where three people received top-tier trials.

But just when he thought it couldn't get any more shocking, the divine patterns surged past two-thirds of the pillar, and then blood-red lines suddenly appeared—not inching forward, but soaring instantly to the top.

A deep humming, like the sea's mournful wail, erupted from the pillar, followed by a beam of scarlet light ten times more intense than Ah Zhu and Dugu Yan's.

At that moment, the entire Sea Within the Sea erupted into hundred-meter-high waves, glowing with dense blue light.

Not just here—even the entirety of Seagod Island trembled with the eruption of that sacred crimson pillar.

Then, six more enormous red beams erupted from the other sacred pillars on the island.

Seven beams met in the air. The scarlet light faded, replaced by a dazzling, majestic golden brilliance.

This golden light radiated awe-inspiring divine power. In that instant, everything on Seagod Island—the pillars, the sea, forests, mountains—was bathed in gold.

Even all the Sea Spirit Masters, including those beside Yu Tianming like Sea Dragon Douluo and Dugu Yan, were enveloped in that golden radiance.

Such a grand, divine display was suffused with sacred majesty.

And all of that brilliance converged on a single point. Yu Tianming, who stood stunned beneath the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar.

As the golden beam landed upon him, Yu Tianming thought, 'Has it really only been fourteen years since I arrived in the Douluo Continent… and now I'm on the path to godhood?'

His journey had been smooth. His biggest challenge had been two years in Slaughter City, but even there he'd relied on the advantages of his Martial Soul to easily defeat fallen spirit masters.

Yet now, standing at the threshold of divine trials, he found himself somewhat dazed.

Before he could think further, he felt something within his body stir. Nine golden square screens suddenly appeared before him.

The first was the brightest, the other eight noticeably dimmer. Before he could examine them, they drifted toward his forehead like golden meteors.

Massive amounts of information poured into his mind, but only one part was clear—the rest was hazy and unreadable.

Right after receiving this overwhelming golden knowledge, another energy flowed through his body, refining it.

It was as if his entire being was being aligned and upgraded, his body subtly transformed.

Yu Tianming sat down cross-legged and quietly accepted this baptism of divine energy.

After some time, he opened his eyes and let out a long breath.

The surrounding golden light began to recede, converging upon his forehead.

Unlike the others who bore star-shaped marks, his forehead now displayed a golden trident.

The mark shimmered with divine majesty and nobility, as if the gods themselves were looking down from the heavens.

Everyone around him stared at the mark in awe, unable to speak.

Yet all Yu Tianming could think was, 'The Sea God's aesthetic... is really no different from the flashy styles of my past life's mall punks.'

Dugu Yan asked, "Senior, why is Tianming's trident mark different from ours? Is it a higher-tier trial?"

Sea Dragon Douluo didn't reply. He too stared blankly at the trident mark.

Never in all of Seagod Island's history had anyone received such a symbol.

Then, a soft female voice echoed in their ears, "What he has received is not a top-tier Nine Trial—but the Sea God's Nine Trials."

The air rippled, and a woman in a flowing red robe suddenly appeared in front of the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar.

She was about the same height as Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi. In her right hand, she held a three-meter-long staff engraved with arcane runes.

Her gentle features made her look no older than thirty, her temperament noble, elegant, and serene. Her long sea-blue hair flowed straight down to the ground.

But it was her eyes—clearer than the ocean, deep with ancient wisdom and compassion—that left the strongest impression.

No one Yu Tianming had met could match her presence. The moment she appeared, everyone instinctively knew—this was the strongest being present.

"Greetings, Grand Priest," Sea Dragon Douluo bowed slightly to the red-robed woman.

She smiled kindly. "Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar, you've done well initiating so many talented youths."

"I dare not claim credit," Sea Dragon Douluo replied, even more respectful now.

She didn't respond. Her gaze swept over everyone, finally settling on Yu Tianming—and more precisely, the golden trident on his brow.

"Young man from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, I have waited over a century… and finally, at the twilight of my years, I've met you."

Hearing her voice up close, Yu Tianming's heart skipped a beat—not from her beauty, but from the ocean-like resonance in her tone, striking the depths of his soul.

He now knew clearly—this woman was the legendary Seagod Douluo, Bo Saixi. The strongest person he had ever encountered.

Even her voice likely carried divine power.

Yu Tianming respectfully saluted her. "Junior Yu Tianming greets Senior. May I ask if my grandfather safely left Seagod Island?"

When Yu Yuanzhen left, he'd only gotten a few miles offshore, unprotected by any concealment barrier. Seagod Island would certainly have noticed.

Even as a Rank 97 Super Douluo, he couldn't handle multiple Title Douluo attacks at sea.

If Bo Saixi had intervened, he wouldn't have escaped at all.

Bo Saixi appeared beside him in a flash and gently waved off his salute.

"No need for formality. Your grandfather left safely. We on Seagod Island do not attack passing spirit masters without cause."

Relieved to hear of Yu Yuanzhen's safety, Yu Tianming expressed his gratitude. "Thank you, Seagod Douluo."

Bo Saixi's gaze drifted toward the horizon as she murmured, "Time flies. I didn't expect the destined moment to arrive so soon."

Everyone remained respectfully silent.

Soon, Bo Saixi refocused and looked seriously at Yu Tianming. "From now on, remember—no one on Seagod Island has the right to receive your bow, including me."

"I understand," Yu Tianming replied earnestly, aware that as the Sea God's chosen, his identity had changed.

Bo Saixi turned to Sea Dragon Douluo. "Sea Dragon, pass on my orders. Until they complete the Sea God's Trials, these four are honored guests. No one may offend or mistreat them. While they may not be assisted in completing the trials, all other needs should be met. They will live in your Sea Dragon City. Also, summon the other six. We convene in the Sea God's Hall tomorrow."

"Yes," Sea Dragon Douluo replied with utmost respect.

Though years had passed since her last appearance, Bo Saixi was still the embodiment of divine authority on Seagod Island.

Only the Sea God himself could supersede her.

Bo Saixi turned back to Yu Tianming. "I believe you will pass the Sea God's Trials. If you need anything, ask him."

"Remember for your Sea God's Nine Trials, you must complete at least one each year. Otherwise, all your efforts will be wasted."

Yu Tianming asked, "If I fail and can't pass the trial, will the result be the same as the others—death?"

Bo Saixi's expression suddenly changed. Yu Tianming felt a blur before his eyes, and Bo Saixi had already appeared just a few centimeters in front of him. Her once gentle eyes had turned stern, and the overwhelming pressure made Yu Tianming instinctively hold his breath.

"Yu Tianming, never allow the thought of failure to enter your mind. I can tell you this—your trial concerns the very survival of Seagod Island. If you fail, the consequences will be far more than just death."

As her words fell, everyone saw a flash of red light. In the next moment, Bo Saixi, the Seagod Douluo who had stood in front of Yu Tianming, had already vanished.

Dugu Yan and Ah Zhu both let out a breath almost at the same time.

Ah Zhi, who was nearby absorbing her soul bone, looked pale, her forehead covered in a sheen of sweat.

Clearly, even while absorbing the soul bone, she had sensed the oppressive might of Bo Saixi from the outside world.

"So powerful... Is this the strength of the Seagod Douluo?" Dugu Yan patted her chest, still shaken.

Yu Tianming didn't respond. He and Ah Zhu simultaneously turned to look at Ah Zhi. Her face was pale, but the process of absorbing the soul bone had not stopped.

It was obvious that the soul bone absorption had not been interrupted, but the arrival of an Ultimate Douluo had indeed frightened this young Soul Ancestor.

An hour later, Ah Zhi also opened her eyes and let out a long breath. "That person just now was the High Priest of Seagod Island, right? Her presence was overwhelming."

Yu Tianming didn't reply to Ah Zhi. Instead, he looked at Sea Dragon Douluo.

"It's getting late. Let's begin her Seagod Trial."

Sea Dragon Douluo gave a slight bow and replied respectfully, "Understood."

He then guided the Light of the Seagod toward Ah Zhi, who had just stood up.

This time, the change in the light's color was somewhere between what had occurred with Ah Zhu and Dugu Yan. It quickly reached the level of the Red Level Seven Trials.

But after flashing red at that level for a moment on the Seagod Pillar, the light suddenly surged upward one more step, transforming into the Red Level Eight Trials.

At that moment, on Seagod Island, Sea Horse Douluo sat atop his sacred pillar, staring at the red light in the sky. He scratched his head.

In his heart, he couldn't help but mutter, 'What's going on today? So many geniuses appearing in a single day?'
