~Alex's POV
After watching over her for a while, making sure she was stable, I finally forced myself to step out of the room. I needed air. And I needed answers, not just about her health, but about whatever the hell was happening to me.
I made my way to Michael's office, pushing open the door without bothering to knock. He was sitting behind his desk, flipping through some medical charts. The second he looked up and saw me, a knowing smirk crossed his face.
"So," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Who's the lady?"
I sighed, rubbing a hand over my face. "Michael…"
"No, really," he cut in, grinning. "Because last I checked, my younger brother didn't do attachments. Yet here you are, looking like a man who hasn't slept in days, hovering over some woman like she's your lifeline."
I scowled, dropping into the chair across from him. "She needed help. That's all."
