"Maya Maguire."
Hearing her name, Maya's heart thumped in her chest. She took a breath to calm down, then walked forward under Liam, Kiera and several other girls' supportive gaze.
'I have to be perform even better. These robots have abilities too.'
She thought solemnly.
The air buzzed with static. Neon-blue walls pulsed with energy. Maya stood in the center, sword lowered, breathing calm and slow. Her brown hair was tied back, eyes focused. She rolled her shoulders.
A hiss of steam. Across the arena, another robot activated. Its blue-plated armor gleamed, spear crackling with arcs of lightning. It stepped forward with inhuman grace.
"Combat Mode – Level 6. Engaging."
'Tch… lightning? This is gonna be heavy.'
Maya thought, adjusting her grip on the sword. Her heart pounded in sync with the humming energy walls.
"Begin."
The robot moved first—a blur of blue lightning. The spear stabbed forward like a bolt of fate.
