My stomach was full, my heart warm, and my eyes still a little watery from a breakfast that was too spiritually touching.
It felt like I had just experienced some kind of enlightenment.
But of course, life can't stay sweet forever.
I knew sooner or later, reality would come crashing back hard—so I decided to get ahead of it. By facing reality first. And that meant finding a job.
The only place that came to mind right then was: the Adventure Guild.
Something they say is a must-have in other worlds… except in Matei, where even the people prefer to be scammers rather than adventurers.
So I stepped out of the inn, still walking with a mix of sentiment and trauma, and wandered through the capital's streets—streets that were, for some reason, too orderly for a different world.
No con artists disguised as holy monks, no land taxes every five steps, and the craziest part: there were sensible street signs.
Until finally, I stood in front of a large building with a crossed swords and shield emblem in the center.
The Adventure Guild.
The building was tall, with imperial architecture that was luxurious but still functional.
Not like the buildings in Noa or Pavilion that looked like a mix between a warehouse, a bar, and a wild cat sanctuary.
The moment I walked inside, my mouth dropped open.
The people… looked professional.
Adventurers sitting and reading reports, serious discussions around a round table, even a group of kids—yes, kids!—forming parties while laughing excitedly. Maybe twelve years old. I couldn't even cook rice at that age.
I walked slowly to the registration desk, still half in awe, half in disbelief.
I felt like a country bumpkin visiting a mall for the first time—and kind of insulted because it turned out this world could make sense… if only I had started here from the beginning.
And one thing crossed my mind at that moment:
"So… this is what life in a proper isekai world feels like. Why couldn't it have been like this from the start, huh?"
