"Hya!" Meng Yiran, who saw an opening, trued to exploit it.
Using her snake staff, she aimed to hit Liu Yan in the torso. However, she underestimated the reaction time of her opponent.
Liu Yan, realising her motive grabbed onto the staff, not letting her take hold of her main weapon.
"Let go!" Yiran injected soul power into her staff, but her face showed signs of difficulty.
"Yiran, be careful!" After a bit of watching, one could see by how much she was losing. But she was stubborn, refusing to admit defeat!
"How are you stronger than me?!" She couldn't comprehend that her opponent who was probably two or three years younger could overpower her level 30 soul power.
Smirk
"You don't underestimate your opponents. I may not look like it, but I, am a level 32 soul elder!" Revealing this, Yiran and Chao TianXiang had only a face of shock, such a genius!
"You've lost." Liu Yan gripped the staff harder, crystal cluster form upon the staff, growing closer to Yiran.
Shing
She suddenly felt one cluster was about to grow out of her finger tip, immediately letting go to check.
However, this was her mistake. She had lost her weapon in battle.
Liu Yan, who was holding the snake staff that still had crystal clusters upon it threw it up.
As it begin to fall back down,
"Be careful!" He warned before jumping, spinning 360 to his left and kicking the snake staff that was at his leg position.
His gauntlets disassembled and formed around the bottom of his shin to protect against harm and allowed his kick force to be larger.
Bang
As the kick landed, the crystal clusters shattered and flew in the same direction, at Yiran.
She had originally wanted to attempt to grab a hold of her stick but instead, out of instinct. She covered her face, shielding her beautiful face from being cut up by the crystals.
Crash
The snake staff had passed right by her head, grazing her cheek slightly before stabbing into the tree behind her.
Yiran, still in shock, stood there for ten whole seconds before collapsing to the ground.
"Yiran!" Chao TianXiang jumped forward and caught her granddaughter in time, checking for other injuries she might have missed while spectating the battle.
"Liu Yan brother, from now on, you're my idol!" Ma HongJun, watching the battle was astonished by Liu Yan's strength. He had set himself a role model that he wishes to be like.
Liu Yan walked forward slowly, taking out the staff from the tree before gently laying it right in front of Chao TianXiang, who was sitting on the ground checking Yiran's injuries.
With his right hand put into a fist and cupped in his left hand, he said "I hope senior will forgive today's grievances."
"No, no. We have lost the battle we bet on. No strongs attached." Chao TianXiang could only sigh, being defeated yet their opponent showed them face.
"As the bet goes, you will get to keep the soul beast. I hope, however, we won't be fighting over soul beasts the next time we meet." Chao TianXiang continued before carefully carrying her granddaughter away.
As they left, "Oscar! Still watching a show?! Hurry up and absorb the soul ring. The less time spent in the forest, the better." Zhao WuJi ordered.
"Right!" Oscar said before walking over to the Phoenix Tailed Crystal Comb Snake and stabbed it through the crystal, hitting the brain.
Slowly, purple energy began to seep out of the cracks between the flesh of the snake, forming a purple halo.
Oscar proceeded to sit down cross-legged as he began the absorption process.
Taking the chance, the others who were close to breakthrough also sat down cross legged and began meditating.
Ying Xuan and Liu Yan nodded before sitting opposite each other cross legged. Interwining their fingers and began dual cultivation.
Two hours later, Oscar finaly opened his eyes.
"You're awake!" Ma HongJun yelled as he suddenly jumped onto Oscar.
Ahh
Oscar scrambled around, trying to escape from being under Ma HongJun's weight.
When he finally got off, Oscar was breathjng heavily, and panting.
"So, Oscar. Congratulations on becoming a Soul elder!" Dai MuBai said as he pat him on the shoulder.
"Yeah, come on. Show us your new soul skill!" Ning RongRong said.
"Heh, this will definitely surprise you" Oscar smirked as he created another sausage. After eating it, translucent wings formed on his back.
With a jump, he was flying in the air, free and out.
"So your third ability is flight…" Ma HongJun said, contemplating the soul beast. Such a soul beast giving only one benefit.
"How long can you fly for?" Dai MuBai asked, also curious on why the soul beast gave one weak benefit.
"One minute!" Oscar said excitedly. Hearing this, most of them almost fainted.
"One minute?! I can't even cross a large river with that type of time limit" Ma HongJun excalimed in surprise.
"I didn't finish yet… For one minute, you can fly at speed of the Phoenix Tailed Crystal Comb Snake." He said smugly.
Gasp
"At the speed of the snake?!!" Their exclamation sounded quite loudly in the forest.
Somewhere further from the spot of the group, giant, booming footsteps sounded through the forest.
The soul beasts around it either ran away or stepped aside to let it pass.
Rustle, Rustle
As it sniffed the air, the soul beast's eyes widened before beginning to accelerate at a certain direction.
"Alright, we pack up bow and head back." Zhao WuJi instructed.
"Teacher!" Two voices sounded. One being Tang San, one being Ying Xuan.
Ying Xuan loomed at Tang San before gesturing for Tang San to speak first.
"We might have to stay longer, I after all, need a soul ring now." Tang San said sheepishly.
"Ah, I see. I see" he nodded before suddenly his eyes widened.
"Another soul ring?! Tang San, are you level 30 now?" He asked urgently.
Tang San merely nodded.
Zhao WuJi looked at Ying Xuan who also just nodded, signifying that two people had successfully reached level 30.
"Hahahahaha! You all really are a group of little monsters!" Zhao WuJi laughed loudly.
"Alright, let's head south 3 miles. We'll set up camp there." He instructed before leading them.
Unbeknownst to them, a soul beast was rapidly approaching. Locked onto two targets of the entire group.
