On the movie screen—
Amidst the howling typhoon and the ruins of a collapsed building, the fierce battle between Ryougi Shiki and Asagami Fujino was raging on.
Due to a momentary lapse in concentration, Ryougi Shiki's left arm was directly twisted and broken by Asagami Fujino's Mystic Eyes.
"I am... stronger."
At this moment, Asagami Fujino felt a genuine sense of joy. Despite the pain in her abdomen, she relentlessly pursued the fleeing Ryougi Shiki.
However, due to the complex terrain, she struggled to pinpoint Shiki's exact location. Even when she did manage to track her down, Shiki's astonishing physical abilities made it nearly impossible to deliver a fatal blow.
"You have the upper hand, Shiki, but... If I can't see her... I'll just clear away everything that's in the way."
The moment those words fell, Asagami Fujino's eyes began to glow, and everything around her started to collapse.
"You're totally out of control."
Shiki's voice echoed from the darkness.
She emerged from behind the rubble where she had been hiding, striking Fujino with astonishing speed before vanishing into the shadows once more.
"What is she...? I... smashed her arm... Why isn't she stopping?"
Compared to Asagami Fujino's shock, Ryougi Shiki remained calm. She had retreated back into the shadows, her right hand having completely lost sensation in that brief exchange—likely never to recover its function for the rest of her life.
"Good, Asagami... You are the best..."
Shiki murmured to herself, focusing her mind.
Asagami Fujino was probably the strongest opponent she would ever face. One small mistake, and she would lose her life instantly.
This overwhelming sense of danger thrilled her—it reminded her that she was truly alive.
"I know it's all a waste, but..."
Even if she killed Asagami Fujino, nothing would change.
But that's life.
If you keep stacking up seemingly meaningless efforts, someday, something might come of it.
"Let's get to it... I've seen the secret of your magic!"
With those words, Shiki suddenly stepped forward from the darkness.
Seeing Shiki walking toward her, Fujino doubted her own eyes.
"I knew it... you are not sane...."
She didn't hesitate—she activated her ability instantly.
"Twist."
Her vision twisted, setting a rotational axis on both Shiki's head and feet, pulling them in opposite directions.
Shiki's body should have twisted into a tangled mass.
No—she should have been erased entirely.
And yet—
Crack!
The knife in Ryougi Shiki's hand slowly came down.
The distortion that Fujino had created vanished into thin air.
With just a single swing of her knife, Shiki had erased Fujino's distortion.
"I usually have trouble seeing formless things, but you shot too many. Thanks to that, I finally saw it. Your power is a spiral helix in green and red. It is truly beautiful."
"What... are you?"
Fujino's face twisted in fear, unable to comprehend what was happening before her eyes.
Meanwhile, Shiki continued cutting through the distortions Fujino unleashed. She spoke in a calm, chilling voice:
"Everything in this world has a tear. Not to mention humnas, the atmosphere, one's will, and even time."
"If something has a beginning, then naturally, it must also have an end."
"My eyes can see the death of all things. I can cut the lines as long as I understand the death behind it."
"As long as it's something alive, even if it's a god, I can kill it."

The very moment those words left Ryougi Shiki's mouth, the entire theater erupted in shock!
From the moment The Garden of Sinners began screening, the audience had been speculating about Shiki's ability.
But none of them had expected this.
Ryougi Shiki's true power—was the ability to see the death of all things.
"Ryougi Shiki's eyes can see the death of all things. In other words, the lines that appear in her vision symbolize the 'Lines of Death'?"
"If she cuts these lines with her knife, it means she can directly end the target's life!"
"I see! That's why she was able to kill the ghosts in Overlooking View—because she could sever even their 'death'!"
"This ability is way too overpowered! Is it even possible for something like this to exist in the real world?"
"When did she even acquire this power? There weren't any clues about it in A Study in Murder – Part 1!"
<+>
At the same time, within the Imperial Mage Academy, the discussion among mages became even more intense.
"Mystic Eyes that can perceive death… No matter how you think about it, that's completely broken!"
"According to legends, the most powerful undead beings can see a person's life force and even diminish it from the source. Necromantic Supreme Magic like the Death's Declaration can instantly reduce someone's life force to zero. Those abilities seem somewhat similar."
"Seeing death might be difficult, but honestly, this ability feels kind of impractical. After all, most mages can't see death, but creating death is easy—any third-tier spell can already kill most enemies."
"Exactly! Plus, Ryougi Shiki's Mystic Eyes require her to get close and physically sever the death lines. In terms of versatility, it's actually quite limited. A regular knight might even be more effective—after all, stabbing a heart with a sword and slicing a death line both lead to the same result."
"But the upper limit of this ability seems ridiculously high! Against enemies that normal attacks can't hit, it would be especially effective. And if she can sever death itself, maybe she really could kill a god?"
"That's not guaranteed. After all, no one truly understands what 'gods' are. If a god lacks the concept of 'life' from the beginning, then it also lacks 'death.' Without death, Ryougi Shiki wouldn't be able to kill it."
"Exactly! In fact, I think her Mystic Eyes might not even work on the undead. Since undead creatures have already lost the concept of 'death,' they might be immune to her ability."
The mages' debate grew even more heated. When it came to magic, even the most ordinary students could offer their own insights and theories.
Although Ryougi Shiki's Mystic Eyes of Death Perception seemed invincible at first glance, the mages saw its many limitations. To them, this ability was not as practical as a simple, high-level explosion spell.
Of course, practicality was one thing. Style was another.
No matter what, the moment Shiki used her Mystic Eyes to effortlessly sever Asagami Fujino's Distortion and took her down in an instant—everyone agreed on one thing:
"That was insanely cool!"
"Damn, I think I'm in love with Ryougi Shiki!"
"Yeah! Who cares about practicality? If it looks this cool, that's all that matters!"
"Mystic Eyes are so damn badass. If only I had a pair, too!"
"Why don't we mages fight like this?"
"Hey, hey! Don't go modifying your own bodies! If you get caught, you'll be expelled!"
The students of the Imperial Mage Academy continued their excited discussions. Even some professors and lecturers were captivated by the battle's sheer coolness.
After all, as mages, they too harbored a hidden desire—to fight on the battlefield, clash blades with their enemies, and revel in the thrill of battle.
In the past, such roles were reserved for knights.
But now—after witnessing the electrifying clash between Ryougi Shiki and Asagami Fujino—a new passion ignited within the hearts of mages everywhere!
