Chapter 36 - 36 . A New Oath

The whispers from the woods faded, but the memory of them lingered in Ravenswood. The elders, remembering the lessons of the past, called a meeting in the square. Lanterns glowed as the villagers gathered, their faces solemn but determined.

Mayor Hargrove spoke first. "We have seen how quickly shadows return when we let fear and secrets take root. The web is strong, but it needs tending—not just in times of crisis, but every day."

Mara stepped forward, holding Eli's hand. "Let's make a promise, all of us. Each year, on the night of the Festival of the Web, we'll renew our oaths to each other and to the web. We'll speak our truths, share our burdens, and forgive what needs forgiving."

Alex felt pride and hope welling in their chest. "The web is a living thing. Every act of honesty, every moment of courage, strengthens it. Let's make this our new tradition—a shield against whatever darkness may come."

One by one, the villagers stood and spoke their promises. Some voices shook with emotion, others rang clear and strong. Even Eli, his eyes bright with hope, pledged to help others who felt alone or afraid.

As the final oath echoed through the square, the web above shimmered with renewed strength, its threads glowing in the night. The Shadow Weaver, watching from the chapel's doorway, bowed his head in gratitude.

For the first time in memory, Ravenswood felt not just safe, but truly united. The darkness at the edge of the woods receded, and the villagers knew that whatever challenges awaited, they would face them together—bound by truth, hope, and a web that could not be broken.
