Chapter 60: Might of the Shadowstorm
CLANG!!
A metallic shockwave rang through the battlefield as claw met steel, the impact igniting a cascade of sparks and a brief flare of orange fire.
Lei Feng's eyes narrowed.
Shadowstorm Swordplay!
With a twist of his wrist, Stormpiercer sang through the air—each strike faster than the last. Trails of crackling shadows and lightning afterimages carved through the battlefield in jagged arcs. The light of his blades refracted with elemental energy, painting the air in hues of violet and silver.
Slash. Slash. SLASH!
RRRAAAHK!!
The Dragon Wolf Alpha snarled—a guttural, echoing growl that vibrated through the earth. Its crimson eyes locked onto Lei Feng as black energy surged over its scaled body. Its hide thickened, rippling with unnatural resilience. The same sinister aura coiled tightly around its legs, sharpening its muscles, enhancing speed.
Whoosh!
CLASH!
CLANG!
Lei Feng and the Alpha blurred into motion—flickering figures appearing and vanishing with terrifying speed. Each movement cracked the air, every collision sent shockwaves shuddering through the forest floor. Shattered rocks exploded into dust. Trees groaned, some collapsing entirely beneath the sheer force of their clash.
Stormpiercer struck relentlessly, crackling lightning sparking with every impact against the Alpha's enchanted scales. Yet for every ten strikes Lei Feng landed, only one cut truly pierced the beast's defense—its hide reinforced by the dark energy now roiling across its frame.
Lei Feng finally skidded back, panting slightly for the first time.
"We're evenly matched," he muttered, brows furrowing.
The Alpha didn't answer. It stood silently, eyes narrowed, analyzing Lei Feng's movement patterns. The energy around its body didn't waver—it flared brighter.
And then, the impossible happened, the wounds that marred its form began to close. Muscles knitted, gashes sealed, and blood evaporated into mist.
"What the hell…?!" Lei Feng's pupils contracted.
The Beast Call Database never mentioned regenerative capabilities... Could it be a unique trait of the Dragon Wolf Alpha?
BOOM!!!
The Alpha lunged forward, claws radiating dark energy, its massive form moving with explosive force.
Lei Feng's gaze sharpened.
"Tch. You're not the first to try and strike while I'm thinking—
But if you believe I'll fall for it, think again!"
Lightning Flash!
ZAAAAP—ZZZZAAAAK!!
Lightning surged from Lei Feng's eyes, his Storm Dragon Robe crackling to life. In a flash, he vanished—leaving behind a radiant afterimage streaking with plasma arcs. In the next instant, he was crouched calmly on a high tree branch, his body flickering like the manifestation of a storm god.
Ruhhh?
The Alpha snapped around, jaws snapping at empty air. Its beastly eyes twitched with frustration. It had followed Lei Feng's speed before—but now? It couldn't even perceive the moment of movement.
"Looking for me?" Lei Feng's voice called mockingly from above.
The Alpha snarled in rage. Its mouth stretched unnaturally wide—
HOOOOOOWL!
A sickly glow amassed in its throat, forming a sphere of bubbling green venom. With a thunderous growl, it launched the sphere upward, the toxic orb slicing through the air.
Lei Feng didn't flinch.
Storm Shield!
A translucent dome of electric energy burst into being—interwoven with wind currents and crackling with sparks. The venom collided with it and instantly hissed.
SZZZZZ!
The shield disintegrated the attack on contact, Lei Feng's disintegrative lightning attribute obliterating every last drop of the toxin.
Lei Feng's eyes widened in realization.
"My lightning... it's stronger than before. Sharper. It's not just leveling—
My attributes must have been the disintegration attribute."
He smiled then—slowly, darkly.
"Looks like I've been holding back too much."
He leapt from the tree, electricity dancing along his limbs.
"It's time I stop playing around. Don't die too fast, Alpha."
The air grew heavier.
The sky itself dimmed.
And then—
SHIIIIIING!
Lei Feng unsheathed his second weapon—the Nameless Sword, its obsidian blade whispering death into the wind.
He glanced toward the Elemental Vanguard with a wry grin.
"Sorry... but I'm going to ruin your fun."
Killing Intent—UNLEASHED!
BOOOOOOOM!!!
A tidal wave of dark aura exploded outward from Lei Feng—dense and suffocating, thick with malice and bloodlust. Trees bent away. Earth cracked beneath his feet. The very air felt heavier.
Yet unlike before, Lei Feng's mind remained sharp. The killing intent no longer drowned him in madness—it amplified his clarity, sharpening his focus like a honed blade but that murderous intent, the bloodlust, it reminded but he controlled it with his intelligence.
From his shadow, a silhouette emerged—warped and shifting.
Shadow Clone!
The clone took form, an exact mirror of Lei Feng—storm robe, lightning-infused swords, and the same terrifying aura.
From afar, the Elemental Vanguard watched.
"…What's Master doing?" Aquari asked, concern rippling through her watery features.
"He's going all out," Ignis said, his voice low with reverence. "He's testing his limit."
"Let's leave," Glacia murmured, summoning her frost skateboard and skating off. "It's about to get violent."
"I've never seen Master fight this seriously!" Granite bellowed with excitement.
"Then let's watch from a good spot!" Aeolus laughed, dashing after the others.
---
The Dragon Wolf pack trembled.
The sheer aura radiating from Lei Feng made their bodies stiffen.
The Alpha snarled, trying to hold firm. It raised its head and howled again—its roar rolling across the battlefield, steadying the pack's hearts.
But then—
"Pointless."
Lei Feng's voice cut through the roar like a death sentence.
His tone—cold, unfeeling—sent shivers down every spine.
Dark Lightning Intent—ACTIVATE!
Shadowstorm Slash!!
Lei Feng and his clone slashed simultaneously. Their blades cut the air—
—but the arcs they released weren't lightning as the world knew it. They shimmered with dark amethyst hues, amplified with killing intent and the dark lightning intent.
ZZZZAAAK-CRAAAAACK!!
A jagged bolt of dark violet lightning cleaved the battlefield in half.
The ground ruptured, exploding in light and darkness. The storm-charged bolt shrieked through the air like a demon's wail.
It struck the Alpha squarely—
BOOOOOOM!!!
The blast erupted into a dome of devastation. Shockwaves expanded outward. Trees vaporized. The soil fractured. When the light faded—
The Dragon Wolf Alpha stood… or rather, two halves of it did—
cleaved down the middle, its body still crackling with residual energy.
Blood sprayed the earth. Steam hissed from cauterized flesh. Its corpse collapsed.
"…Such power," Granite muttered, fists clenched.
"W-Whoa," Aquari blinked. "I didn't know Master could be this powerful."
"That's why I'm proud to serve him," Ignis said, eyes gleaming.
"Hmph," Glacia crossed her arms. "Of course. If he wasn't this strong, he'd never be worthy of being my Master."
…Yet the small smile tugging at her lips betrayed her icy tone.
"Hahahah! Amazing!!" Aeolus cheered. "Even if I didn't fight, that was the best thing I've seen all day!"
"…"
The others gave him a wierd look.
---
Lei Feng turned his gaze toward the rest of the Dragon Wolf pack.
The wolves froze.
That smile on his face—it wasn't one of joy.
It was death smiling.
And they ran.
But Lei Feng moved before they could flee far.
Shadowstorm Steps!
SWOOSH!
He blurred into shadows and lightning, his clone right behind him—two storming reapers dancing across the battlefield.
With every movement, wolves fell—bodies torn, bones crushed, cries silenced. The two Lei Fengs cleaved a path of annihilation through the pack.
Some wolves tried to escape—
But the Elemental Vanguard moved in unison.
Ignis launched fireballs that exploded like suns.
Glacia froze the air itself, then shattered it with spears of ice.
Granite crushed spines with brutal punches, roaring like a stone titan.
Aquari sliced with spinning waves, drowning wolves mid-pounce.
Aeolus turned the battlefield into a tempest, winds howling with fury.
The forest became a bloodbath.
And in the center of it all—Lei Feng stood, swords dripping with blood and lightning, his eyes calm, calculating… and deadly. It was going to be a long long day.
