From a distance, one of Lucien's trusted guards watched. The Duke had ordered a man stationed discreetly at D'Amaro Manor for days now — and as soon as the Prince arrived, a message had been sent to Lucien.
At D'Aragon Hall, Lucien tossed his arm to signal the waiting guard.
"Well?" Lucien asked sharply.
The guard bowed. "The Prince has taken Lady Isadora to the palace, my lord. It seemed… important."
Lucien's jaw clenched. Of course. He was up and dressing within minutes, summoning his horse.
At the palace, Alaric led Isadora into his chambers, grand and lined with priceless paintings. He moved with that easy charm, showing her pieces and speaking of his travels.
But Isadora's mind was elsewhere.
"Excuse me, Your Highness," she said at last. "I need a moment."
Without waiting for his answer, she slipped out.
Isadora made her way through the palace, asking a maid for the King's whereabouts. The girl pointed toward the council chamber.
"They're in a meeting now, my lady."
