Hikaru Amagi glanced at the cards in his hand.
Thanks to Rex Raptor's Card Destruction, Hikaru had pitched two Thunder Dragons and redrawn. Now his hand was surprisingly solid.
But…
His eyes shifted to the face-down card on his opponent's field.
Rex stood there, hands in his pockets, completely unfazed. On the contrary, he looked amused—almost thrilled with how the duel was going so far.
"I banish a Thunder Dragon that wasn't sent to the Graveyard this turn to activate Thunder Dragon Fusion's Graveyard effect—
I add one Thunder monster from my Deck to my hand."
He added Gem-Knight Citrine to his hand.
"Next…"
He looked down at his hand.
"I activate the Spell Card Gem-Knight Fusion!
I fuse Gem-Knight Pearl and Gem-Knight Citrine from my hand—Fusion Summon!"
A glint of light and steel. A knight with a polished crystal shield pounded his spear against it, the clang ringing through the air.
"Appear—Gem-Knight Prism Aura!"
Gem-Knight Prism Aura – Level 7 / EARTH / Thunder-Type / ATK 2450
Somehow, this really did feel like the first time Hikaru had properly Fusion Summoned Gem-Knight Prism Aura from hand using the actual Gem-Knight Fusion card.
"Now, I activate Gem-Knight Fusion's Graveyard effect! I banish Gem-Knight Citrine to return the Fusion Spell to my hand!"
"Then—Prism Aura's effect! Once per turn, I discard a Gem-Knight card from my hand to target a face-up card on the field and destroy it!"
"I discard Gem-Knight Fusion, and destroy Super Conductor Tyranno!"
The radiant knight leveled his glaive at the electric dinosaur. Tyranno let out a wild howl, lightning erupting from its frame—only to bounce off Prism Aura's armor like light off a mirror. With a blinding flash and a concussive blast, the beast exploded.
"Nice move…" Rex muttered, still standing tall even as his monster shattered.
The crowd around them murmured, beginning to buzz again—but Rex kept speaking over them:
"So what—you're going to attack with your 4400 ATK Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem, plus your 2450 ATK Prism Aura, and finish me off?
Hah! But the real question is… can you!?"
Hikaru glanced again at his hand.
The two cards on the left were the ones he'd drawn from Card Destruction. The last one on the right was his search card for Fusion materials.
If Rex's face-down card really was Jurassic Impact, then this finishing attack wouldn't land!
So—
"I activate the Spell Card Fusion Conscription!
I reveal Chimeratech Rampage Dragon from my Extra Deck and add Cyber Dragon from my Deck to my hand."
"He's still searching!?"
"Battle Phase!" Hikaru declared.
The crowd erupted.
"Be careful, Rex!!"
"Now's the moment I've been waiting for!" Rex suddenly roared. His lethargy vanished in an instant. His eyes widened with fire.
"I activate my Trap Card—Jurassic Impact!"
Hikaru's heart sank.
"When I control a Dinosaur-Type monster with 2500 or more ATK—I can destroy all cards on the field!"
"ALL OF THEM!?"
"DESTROY EVERYTHING!!"
As he shouted, Jurassic Impact triggered—Jurrac Titanos let out a primal scream, leapt skyward, and unleashed a fiery cataclysm. Meteors rained from above. The battlefield was consumed in a blaze of prehistoric fury.
Prism Aura.
Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem.
Obliterated.
The field was reduced to nothing but scorched dirt and drifting smoke.
Field: Empty.
Hikaru LP: 3500
Rex Raptor LP: 2400
No one in the crowd could speak.
Then Rex broke the silence.
"Hikaru Amagi… I saw you on TV. I saw the Duel between your world and the X-Dimension. You said—'Fusion is the noblest form of Summoning.'"
"When I heard you'd be visiting our factory—sponsoring our product—even investing tech into it… I had to see it for myself. Are you really that kid from TV?"
His eyes narrowed.
"I've seen it all. Stars that rise fast. Get big heads. Sell out. End up working for the darkness, stealing souls…"
"All that 'national champ' crap—it doesn't mean anything if you don't back it up!"
Hikaru blinked.
Whoa.
Rex Raptor was roasting himself?
He hadn't expected that kind of brutal honesty.
"You stood up for me earlier. I appreciated that. And your Fusion moves today? Incredible. But I won't take risks on hope alone."
"Right now, in this very Battle Phase—you have no monsters. I've got 2400 LP. A bigger hand than you. And next turn? I can summon another dinosaur."
"If you can't finish me this turn… you lose!"
He stared down Hikaru with wild, primal fire in his eyes.
"So show me—show us—show this company, this world, the future—that you are truly an Absolute Fusionist!"
The staff were stunned. Speechless.
Hikaru, on the other hand, began to laugh.
"How fun… Rex-senpai. I always heard tales of Yugi Muto's adventures. I thought you were just comic relief…"
"But now I see it—you really are… a Legendary Duelist!"
"So let me show you—using the two cards I drew off your Card Destruction—what true Fusion looks like!"
"I pay half my LP to activate Quick-Play Spell—Cybernetic Fusion Support!"
Hikaru LP: 3500 → 1750
"This card lets me perform one Fusion Summon of a Machine-Type monster this turn, using monsters from hand, field, or Graveyard—by banishing them!"
"You've only got one other card," Rex muttered. "It's Cyber Dragon, right?
You only have one shot."
"And my second card is—Quick-Play Spell, Overload Fusion!"
He slammed it into the Spell & Trap zone.
"I fuse Cyber Dragon from my hand, and Ancient Gear Golem and Ancient Gear Knight from my Graveyard!"
"Fusion Summon—!"
His voice rose with a crescendo. Machinery clanked. Energy surged.
"Chimeratech Overdragon!!"
A massive mechanical hydra roared into being, each head gleaming with charged plasma.
"Whoa…"
"It actually worked?!"
Even the staff were stunned.
"Its ATK is 800 x the number of Fusion Materials—three monsters, that's 2400 ATK!"
"Direct attack! Chimeratech Overdragon—finish this!"
The steel hydra surged forward in a blur of cables and lightning. Rex Raptor's Life Points dropped to zero.
WINNER: Hikaru Amagi.
