Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Plans & The Experience

After we had all gotten on the plane, we all had different places to go, I planned to find a place to continue to practice my Lightforce manipulation, and staying in the Canadian Rockies similar to Logan was a pretty good idea.

Logan and Kayla had the plan to go back to their cabin where Kayla would explain everything as she had heard almost his entire life story and would be able to fill in almost all the blanks in Logan's memory.

She had been the one who requested I stay near them so I could explain my part of how I knew Logan and what happened at The Island, Gambit had already explained his part.

It did interrupt my plans a little, but being with Logan would eventually bring me to the events of the next big confrontation.

Based on what I could tell, the events of X-Men Origins were supposed to have happened after X-Men First Class, but that became a major plot hole if that was the case, why was Emma Frost a young woman in this movie but an adult in the other movie?

Also, according to Gambit, it wasn't old man Charles who had picked up the kids.

Based on what Gambit described, the kids had come across an abandoned helicopter and it was a scientist who worked for Striker originally that helped them and took them who knows where.

Did this worry me? A little, but my best guess is she would attempt to bring them back to their parents if they had parents who were still alive or even willing to take them back. And failing that, take them to an orphanage.

It honestly wasn't the biggest concern for me, they seemed decently powerful and I'm sure their experiences at The Island will help them to be more careful about who to trust.

My musings were interrupted by Kayla walking out to speak with me.

Seeing as it hadn't even been a week since we left The Island, she would probably be asking me about her sister again.

"Hey Andrew, it's been almost a week, did Remy say where my sister was taken?" She asked.

I had told Kayla what Gambit had told me about the helicopter and all the kids escaping,

I wasn't sure what would happen to them and unfortunately, they had left by the time everything with Striker was resolved.

I am no Charles Xavier, I have no way to locate them.

"No, he didn't. But as I said the last time you asked, I have Gambit trying to get in touch with his contacts to try to find her but she could be anywhere at this point." I explained.

"I know. And I know you are doing what you can it's just, that she was kept prisoner by Striker and I hadn't seen her in years. Then I had made my peace with never seeing her again as I thought I'd die. That all changed because of you so I just want to see my sister again." Kayla replied and I could see tears falling from her eyes.

I quickly pulled her into a hug as I knew she needed comfort.

"I know how much your sister means to you, that much is evident by all that you did for her. I promise that I will do my best to find her. You need to be here to help Logan and once I get a better handle on my powers I'll go out and look for her myself." I explained as I just held her tight.

Honestly, it was hard not to see her as a sort of big sister considering how she's been treating me the last few days.

I never had any older siblings, only younger ones so it was nice to have someone like that who cared about me and not me having to be the one who ends up having to take care of them.

There was another thing to note about the last few days, I was feeling a sort of block for lack of a better term with my powers.

As I was thinking this, all of the sudden my consciousness was pulled somewhere else.

I opened my eyes and I was surrounded by pure white light everywhere. It was one of the most beautiful sights I had seen lately, I couldn't describe how it made me feel other than, hopeful.

I then heard a voice from behind me.

"Yes, staying inside the Lightforce will influence your mood, filling you with hope and positive memories and thoughts." The voice said.

I turned around and saw "Raiden" again.

"What are you doing here? Wait, how are you here? I thought you said you wouldn't be able to see me again." I asked.

"I am not really here, this is simply a Projection of my consciousness. As you are the embodiment of the Lightforce, I can not enter this realm anymore, only being able to have my Projection here because I was the original creator of the Lightforce." Raiden explained.

"Wait, you mean that I can now control all of this?" I asked gesturing to the endless expanse of white.

"Yes, it was ownerless before, but as of your rebirth, it is now fully yours and you are it so I have no control over it anymore. Now as for why I am here, I had to give you one final piece of information. As the embodiment of the Lightforce, you can both see and manipulate the concept of Hope and if it comes to a point where your hope wanes, your connection to the Lightforce could be blocked." He continued his explanation.

"I could lose my powers?" I asked concerningly.

"It's not that simple I'm afraid, that can't happen, but there could be a moment when you are weaker than normal as you have noticed. Now this is only because of the events that happened with Striker. He had taken so much from you, including a portion of your hope that you subconsciously wanted to take all his hope away, and that can have a poisonous effect on your mind as you are still new to your powers." He continues.

"Is this a weakness I'll always have to deal with?" I asked.

"No. Once you fully come into your powers and connect with the Lightforce, this won't ever be an issue, but as it stands, you have to be careful not to lose yourself as it can hinder your access to the Lightforce." He finished.

"Okay, thank you for the explanation and the advice. So what would you suggest I do to regain my semi-blocked connection?" I asked.

"Simple. Just let go. Let go of all the hate you are holding inside, all the rage and pain. Until you have had time to get used to your new power, you can't let these things poison your mind." He replied.

I took a deep breath as I slowly contemplated my inner thoughts and feelings and even though I couldn't see anything, in my mind's eye, it all seemed to look like a giant ball of light that was covered in black chains that were smoking as if caged due to trying to run rampant.

"Let go." I whispered quietly to myself.

After my words, I took another deep breath as I thought about everything and I knew I had to let go of everything that was going through my mind and hurting my soul.

Once the breath was released, a metaphysical black gas with particles of light scattered throughout escaped my mouth.

After the breath escaped, a change occurred with the giant ball of light in chains.

*Shatter*

*Crash*

The chains broke into a bunch of pieces and fell to the floor. After that the darkness faded, turning into particles of light that joined back with the ball of light that then joined with the rest of the realm of light.

I then opened my eyes and tears were dripping down my face but I had a smile on my face.

"Very good. You must not let the world corrupt your hope. This will be the last time you ever see me, so good luck and goodbye." Raiden said before he faded into nothingness and I awoke with a gasp.

I found myself on a bed and Kayla was sitting in a chair to the side of me and was gripping my hand like a vice. It dawned on me then that I had somewhat taken the place of her sister in that she felt she had to protect me just like her sister otherwise she'd lose me too.

I think deep down she felt that she'd never see her sister again which is honestly really dumb, but it showed in how she cared for me.

I then turned her hand over and squeezed her hand as I rubbed my thumb over the top of her hand.

The feeling of movement and leisure on her hand seemed to have woken her up.

"Andrew? Andrew! Thank god you're awake! I was worried sick!" She said quickly as she hugged me tightly.

"Don't worry, I am fine. I was having an experience of sorts I'm fine now though." I explained quickly as I stood up, a white glow covering my body as the scars that were on my body faded a little more than they were originally.
