Boom!
At this moment, the footsteps of Sun Wukong in the picture suddenly turned into a vertical golden light, rising into the sky. Infinite thunder and divine lightning slammed down on him like punishment from the heavens, and among the thick, heavy, billowing dark clouds, there was a muffled sound of drumming.
Between the sky and the earth, Sun Wukong stood alone, wearing golden armor, wrapped in narrow golden flames, rushing into the dark clouds above. The blazing thunder struck him, carving wounds into his body. But Sun Wukong's face remained indifferent, without expression, like a sharp sword slashing through the chaos of heaven and earth. He charged into the rolling black clouds that threatened to crush all things.
Above the dark clouds were billions of immortals, coldly watching with teasing and judgment. Beneath the clouds was Sun Wukong, adorned in golden armor, wearing a purple-gold crown with phoenix wings, a fluttering flag on his back.
He was alone. All his ties in the mortal world had been severed by the Heavenly Court. Therefore, he had no fear.
Boom boom boom!
The golden hoop staff in Sun Wukong's hand swept fiercely. In an instant, the dark clouds split like a sea, and the endless thunder and lightning shattered completely.
Countless experts across the heavens were shocked.
"Even with millions standing in my way, I'll go! This is too intense!"
"Treading on the sky, shattering the southern heavens! If he doesn't return, then he never will. Though this monkey is not one of us, his spirit is overwhelming. I admire him deeply."
"What a Sun Wukong! What a Great Sage Equal to Heaven!"
"Damn, I'm getting fired up! I didn't expect this to move me so much. What's this feeling?"
"God is not greedy, so why can't he tolerate a little disrespect? God is not evil, so why must he hold the fate of all living beings in his hand?"
It was as if they finally understood the meaning of the voiceover.
Among all the heavens, countless powerful beings were shocked and stirred. And among them, none was more affected than Sun Wukong from Journey to the West.
"Treading Lingxiao, shattering Nantian... is this really me?"
Confusion clouded his eyes. He didn't remember saying those words, nor did he remember what happened in the scene. But he felt the monkey in the video was so pitiful.
From birth, that monkey had been caught in calculations and conspiracies. All he wanted was to be king of his mountain, to live happily with his fellow monkeys and grandchildren.
But too much had happened.
That day, the heavens pressed him down. They shackled him and held him in place.
Everything, guided by fate in the dark, pushed him into the abyss.
"Ahhh!"
At that moment, Sun Wukong couldn't help but roar.
He clenched his fists tightly, eyes red, teeth gritted, staring at the monkey in the video who looked just like him.
"You must win! You have to win!"
In the image, the war had begun.
Sun Wukong swung the golden hoop staff like a dragon soaring across a river. The sky turned over, the heavens shattered.
With every swing, he could blast apart one hundred thousand stars. His strength was overwhelming.
Golden light filled the world.
Countless immortal soldiers and generals, their names once praised among the heavens, were smashed and repelled one after another, body and soul obliterated.
But the enemy was vast. The heavenly soldiers were too many. And then came the Four Heavenly Kings, Tota Heavenly King...
Each blow they delivered could turn stars and moons into mere marbles and the galaxy into a basin beneath their feet.
Under their combined might, Sun Wukong coughed up blood.
Yet despite it all, the blood-soaked monkey never bowed.
He wiped blood from his lips, raised his head again.
What use is heaven and earth if I cannot lie in comfort? What use is the wind and moon if I cannot eat my fill? What use is dust and refinement if all is entrapped? What use is transformation if I cannot walk my own path?
The sound wave shook the sky. Sun Wukong swept out with his staff, meeting the strike with unbending resolve.
Boom!
The staff ran through sun, moon, and stars, piercing heaven, earth, and beyond.
Countless constellations exploded into dust. The very fabric of space split, and time itself seemed to halt.
Within the radiant storm, a figure plummeted from the sky, drenched in blood. Yet mid-air, he gripped the golden staff once more.
Kakaka!
Sun Wukong flipped in the air and stepped out of a gap in the void. Then, with a mighty leap, he rose into the sky and shattered all obstacles.
At the same time, his laughter rang out—desolate, yet defiant.
"Hahaha!"
"What's the use of being born if I cannot laugh?"
"What's the use of destroying me if you cannot crush my pride?"
"Where did I come from? Born in the same world, singing and journeying together, walking all paths!"
His battle cry soared into the sky. Relying on his own strength, the monkey drove the gods to madness.
Blood raged like waves.
It was impossible to tell how far the war had gone—it felt as though it had swept across the entire Heavenly Court.
Countless corpses fell, rivers of blood surged into the heavens.
Magic power and divine runes intertwined in the sky, forming storms.
The golden monkey exploded within it all, surrounded by infinite laws and forces, turning into a cyclone of thunder that tore through his flesh like blades.
Yet he seemed untouched, laughing.
"If the sky suppresses me, I will split the sky."
"If the earth imprisons me, I will trample the ground."
"I was born free. Who dares stand above me!"
The battle raged on.
Sun Wukong was exhausted, weakened, and covered in wounds. But whenever he thought of Huaguo Mountain reduced to ash, whenever he remembered the smiling faces of his monkey tribe, endless strength surged into his heart.
He fought into madness. He stood in blood.
But in the end, he still lost.
When the Heavenly Court stopped playing games and unleashed their full power, he could no longer call himself the Great Sage Sun Wukong.
He became nothing more than a helpless little monkey.
He was bound to the demon-sealing pillar and tormented endlessly, never allowed to die.
A hoarse murmur echoed faintly from time to time from the demon-binding pillar:
"I don't want to die, and I don't want to live alone..."
The picture faded.
Without keeping the powerhouses waiting for long, a new scene began to illuminate slowly, accompanied by a deep and heavy voice-over.
At that moment, the dark sky was suddenly torn open by a bolt of lightning. Sun Wukong leaped upward, raising his golden cudgel to the heavens. "Come on!" His figure, bathed in electric light, was etched into legend, standing immortal through the ages.
The sea shimmered with ten thousand silver lights beneath the moonlight. Atop a high cliff by the ocean sat a stone monkey, staring out blankly. Was this the world? Vast and boundless, yet with no clear path forward... Was he truly unable to go any farther?
When five hundred years is reduced to mere illusion, why must those trapped in the void suffer and rejoice alike?
The voice faded, and the new scene began to unfold.
Sun Wukong, bound to the demon-suppressing pillar, ultimately perished due to a cunning scheme. His body was cast into the alchemical furnace—yet from death, he returned once more.
He was undying. Born through death.
In this second rebirth, Sun Wukong emerged with greater fury and might than ever before. He swept through the Heavenly Court, unchallenged and unstoppable.
He rampaged through the palace again.
The heavens trembled, and the gods fell into despair.
His power grew. His resistance burned brighter.
In desperation, the Jade Emperor could only summon the Tathagata Buddha.
Buddha Tathagata extended his hand, proposing a wager with Wukong. Yet the defiant Monkey King, filled with hatred, scoffed at the Heavenly Court.
No one could stop him from tearing the corrupt heavens asunder.
The Tathagata smiled gently. Sanskrit chants flowed from his lips.
"What if I help you restore Huaguo Mountain?"
Sun Wukong froze. His onslaught stopped.
Amid the wreckage of the Heavenly Court, he stood shaken and doubtful.
With a sweep of the Tathagata's hand, the clouds dispersed. Before him appeared a lush green mountain range.
Huaguo Mountain.
After his initial daze, Sun Wukong's eyes welled with joy.
He dropped his golden staff. He lowered all his defenses. Like a wanderer returning home, he somersaulted toward the mortal realm.
But it was all a trap.
Tathagata had baited him with the last flicker of love in his heart. Sun Wukong walked into it of his own will—into the Five Elements Mountain.
There, he was sealed by the Tathagata.
Even as he lay beneath the Five Elements, Sun Wukong never bowed his head. Yet his face was filled with sorrow.
Not for the chains. Not for the mountain. But for the illusion he was shown—of Huaguo Mountain returned.
The dead could not come back. His home was forever gone.
At that same time, the journey to the West began.
"What a Heavenly Court! What a Tathagata!!!"
"Hahaha, lies! All lies!"
"Shameless! All the gods and Buddhas in the sky are shameless!"
Sun Wukong stared at the Gold List's image, utterly deranged.
He laughed loudly. But the laughter was hollow, filled with sorrow. His joy gave way to grief, and tears began to fall.
"Brother Monkey, what's wrong?" Zhu Bajie, startled, rushed to his side.
"Get away!"
Sun Wukong raised his head to Jiuxiaotian.
"If the sky oppresses me, I'll shatter the sky! If the earth binds me, I'll break the earth!"
"I was born free—who dares to tower above me?"
He muttered again and again, eyes burning with killing intent.
Something long extinguished ignited once more in his chest.
It was something he had lost since he accepted the scriptures.
Now, in this moment...
He had ten thousand urges to storm the Heavenly Court, to raze the Daleiyin Temple, to overturn the Three Realms!
But he held back.
Not because of fear.
But because he wanted to see how this little monkey, so similar to him, would end in the vision before them.
In his heart, a quiet hope flickered—one he could not name.
The image continued.
Tathagata had sealed Sun Wukong beneath the Five Elements without speaking another word.
Though Sun Wukong was immortal, the Tathagata not only used the mountain to suppress him but also steadily drained his spirituality. Sanskrit chants echoed endlessly, brainwashing his mind.
Through great hardship, Sun Wukong was reborn a third time.
Yet even after five hundred years of suppression, his hatred toward the world had not faded.
After five centuries, he remained the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
His resolve did not waver. His heart stayed true.
However—
The Heavenly Court and the Buddhist Sect had another method.
The moment they placed the Hooping Charm on his head, it was over.
His memories vanished.
Centuries of perseverance and resistance turned to dust.
His expression went blank. Hollow. He even bowed piously toward the Western sky.
From then on, the Great Sage Sun Wukong was no more.
Only the obedient monk, Sun Wukong the scripture-bearer, remained.
