Arthur and Maki home, Earth 2032
"Be quiet, you're going to wake him up." Maki tells Arthur in a whisper.
"I'm not that loud." Arthur retorts quietly.
"No, but your footsteps are. Don't you remember how sensitive his hearing was." Maki asked him.
"He's been in a coma for seven years. His hearing shouldn't be that sensitive." He stands next to Jeremiah's door with a small cake in his hands.
"We'll go in on three. One, two, th." Arthur stops midway by Jeremiah's voice.
"Come in you two. I know you're out there." Jeremiah tells them from inside his room.
Maki punches Arthur's arm, "See I told you he'll hear us. Come on."
She opens the door to his room, "Happy birthday Jeremiah."
Arthur walks into his room holding the birthday cake with the number twenty-seven in bold azure color on top, "Happy birthday little bro. Three more years and you'll be thirty."
"Thank you, but you didn't have to rub in how old I was." Jeremiah sits up in his bed and accepts Maki's hug.
"We got you a chocolate cake." Arthur sets the came on his dresser and also joins in on the hug.
Jeremiah wraps his arms around them to return the hug, but suddenly has an evil thought. He uses his power to give a small shock to both of them.
"Ouch!" Both Maki and Arthur jumps back from getting shock suddenly.
"What was that?" Maki looks at Arthur demanding answers.
"It wasn't me. I have shoes on." He points to his work boots.
"It wasn't me. I'm the one who got shock." She looks at Jeremiah with a sudden interest. "Was it you?"
"It wasn't me I've been laying in bed all morning." Jeremiah defends himself from the accusations.
"It must be because our familiar love is so shocking." Jeremiah tries his hardest to not laugh at them.
Maki rolls her eyes at his corny joke, and rubs the spot where she was shocked. She sits down on his bed, and stares at him with an unbelievabing look. "So what are you planning to do today? You can't stay in bed all day."
"I'll probably stay up and watch out for how this project fails spectacularly. Either that or true connect with people from my past." He tells her.
"I advise you to connect after the project fails or succeed. That way you know the after what effects it will cause." Arthur advises him before letting him make his decision.
He leans against a wall and looks out the window, "Given how much money they put into this project, I would be surprised if it didn't work."
"Well let's hope it works. Otherwise religious fanatics will tear down this city brick-by-rick, and find everyone that was involved." Jeremiah swings his legs over his bed and stands up, walking over to his cake.
"I don't think they'll tear the entire city apart." Maki chimes in. "If it succeeds maybe we'll all be able to use magic. I would finally be able to bet your ass Arthur. Wouldn't that be nice."
"Your still too young to beat me up. You'll have to wait until I'm old and weak." Arthur remarks.
"And long will that take. Your thirty-two now, so in about sixty years when your ninety you should be old enough." Maki carefully makes plans in her head about when would be a good time to beat up Arthur.
Jeremiah takes a plate and silverware he prepared the night beforehand, and carefully cuts himself a piece of cake. He takes the slice and goes to sit back down on his bed before taking a bite.
"Either way it goes, life that you two know it will change. Either for good, or for bad. So let's just enjoy what we have while we have it." He finally takes a bite of the chocolate cake.
