Chapter 154 - Chapter 153: Carefree Immortal (3)

So now that you understand that Option Two is the one you must take—at least I sincerely hope so, or else I really can't help you anymore—and that accumulating the maximum number of high-rarity, high-level skills before breaking through is a smart move, we can move on to what's next.

Doing so will grant you a significantly greater amount of special energy, which in turn can be used to enhance your talents. But don't think that's all there is to it. There are other crucial things that must be done before reaching the Spiritual Foundation Realm if you truly want to set off on your journey in the most optimal condition possible.

You see, it is the sacrifice of your skills that generates this special energy, which will then be invested into enhancing your talents. However, no matter how powerful or numerous your skills are, this energy is ultimately limited. That means you'll have to make some decisions—serious ones. What do you want to focus on? Will you become a spearman? An archer? An alchemist? Or something else entirely?

Here's the good news: there is a way to reach higher talent levels than your pool of special energy would normally allow. And that is by maxing out Tier 1 and Tier 2 classes.

You might have already noticed it, but Tier 1 classes often come with descriptions like this: Your talent in Unarmed Martial Arts is increased (Permanent).

What this means is that, as long as you've chosen wisely, this will grant you a permanent increase of one level in the corresponding talent. If you didn't possess that talent to begin with, you would now have Unarmed Martial Arts Talent – Level 1.

Tier 2 classes follow a similar logic, but they're even better—they grant two levels instead of one. And here's the best part: these boosts are cumulative.

For example, if you've taken a Tier 1 class that increases your Unarmed Martial Arts Talent, and you also have a Tier 2 class boosting the same talent, the effects stack. In that case, you would end up with Unarmed Martial Arts Talent – Level 3.

This stacking method can be used to push a talent all the way to Level 5. However, once you've reached that level, no matter how many additional Tier 1 or Tier 2 classes you pick up, your talent won't go any higher—not through this method, at least.

To go beyond Level 5, you'll have to rely on your precious special energy.

This is the proper way to optimize your talents before officially stepping into the Akashic Records Universe—after which modifying them will become EXTREMELY difficult, to the point of being nearly impossible. But don't worry, this big sister has a solution for that too!

Feeling glad you bought this book and that you've been blessed with the opportunity to listen to this little fairy's wisdom?

No need to answer—I won't hear you anyway—but I already know you are.

Page 684

So, what is this solution I was talking about, you ask?

Well, I've got two pieces of news to share—one good, one bad.

Let's start with the good news: I do have a solution that will allow you to eventually surpass the initial talent level you'll have when you break through to the Spiritual Foundation Realm. And the best part? It's relatively easy to apply—once you've got it.

Now for the bad news: gaining access to this solution will cost you 1 million Life Points—per person!

Yes, yes, I know that sounds outrageously expensive to you. But complaining to me won't help—I'm not the one selling it. The seller is none other than the Akashic Records themselves.

The solution I'm talking about is a system upgrade called the Evolution System. Here's its official description:

[Evolution System. Requirement: None

Grants the user access to the Evolution System. On its own, it is initially useless and has no practical effect until the user reaches the Spiritual Foundation Realm. At that point, this system upgrade will automatically disappear and transform into the Evolution Talent – Level 1. This talent grants the ability, through effort and continuous training, to improve the user's existing talents over time.

Note: Unlike most system upgrades, which can only be purchased once, the Evolution System may be purchased multiple times. This is necessary because the Evolution System is bound to the individual who wishes to gain the Evolution Talent. In other words, if a party leader wants all of its party members to have the Evolution Talent it would be necessary that he or the concerned member purchase the Evolution System or else they won't gain the Evolution Talent further down the line. Price: 1,000,000 Life Points]

The description provided by the Akashic Records already covers most of the essentials, but let me add a few extra details for clarity.

As you probably figured out, the Evolution Talent gives you the unique ability to gradually improve your existing talents beyond their original limits.

Owning the Evolution Talent grants you a form of adaptability, which allows you—through consistent training and practice—to grow your talents over time.

Now, how does that actually work?

Let me give you a concrete example. Imagine that you possess the Sword Talent at Level 1, and you also have the Evolution Talent at Level 1. In order to raise your Sword Talent, you'll need to engage in activities that are directly connected to it while possessing the Evolution Talent. In this scenario, it would involve things like learning advanced sword techniques, participating in sword duels, practicing forms and stances, and anything else that revolves around the art of swordsmanship. After enough focused effort and intense training, your Sword Talent will eventually rise to Level 2.

The catch, however, is this: the higher your talent level becomes, the harder it will be to raise it further. It may reach a point where it takes decades, or even centuries, of ceaseless dedication to see just a single level of improvement in one of your high-level talents.

At first glance, this might seem a little discouraging. You might think that it's too slow, or that it's not worth the time investment. But make no mistake—despite how long it may take, the Evolution Talent remains EXTREMELY valuable. The ability to improve your natural talents—those same talents that usually remain fixed and unchangeable—is something that simply cannot be measured in ordinary terms. It is beyond priceless.

To be entirely honest with you, obtaining the Evolution Talent is so important that if you were to remember only one thing from everything I've said so far, it should be this:

Make acquiring the Evolution Talent your number one priority. No exceptions.

And that's everything I had to say. I know my section ended up being a bit shorter than the one written by my ever-loyal secretary, Selene, but let's be real—between you and me, we both know that my section was infinitely more interesting and useful, right?

Anyways I have nothing more to say so I'll just wish you good luck on your path of cultivation! Who knows—maybe one of you will one day be lucky enough to meet this dazzling, beautiful fairy in person?

Just kidding. Honestly, I know most people who read this book will be reduced to dust in a few short thousand years. So yeah... chances of me meeting one of you? Close to zero. But I won't lie—it would be funny if it happened. Anyway, that's all I had to say.

END

As he closed the book—especially after finishing the part written by the Carefree Immortal—he let out an unconscious, amused laugh. It was honestly the first time he had read a book authored by someone so... chaotic, and he found it immensely entertaining.

The soft, enchanting melody woven by Kiara's delicate fingers dancing across the strings of her harp came to a gradual halt. The final note lingered in the air for a moment, then faded into silence. She tilted her head, her expression tinged with curiosity. "What is so funny?" she asked, her voice light but expectant.

Mikael glanced up from the book, still holding back a chuckle. His amused green eyes locked onto her dark blue ones—eyes that shimmered with obsession and an almost unnatural intensity. "I just finished the book," he replied, closing it with a soft thump. "That last section, the one written by the Carefree Immortal, made me laugh. It's the first time I've ever read something penned by someone so... chaotic."

For the briefest moment, a flicker of emotion flashed through Kiara's eyes—subtle, but impossible for Mikael to miss. A small, sharp glint of jealousy gleamed in their depths, quickly buried beneath her usual serene smile.

"She sounds very entertaining," Kiara murmured, her fingers resuming their slow dance across the strings, though this time, the notes carried a hint of dissonance, like a whisper of her mood leaking into the melody. "Chaotic, you said? And that's what you like?"

Mikael raised an eyebrow, instantly picking up on the shift in tone. "Not like that," he said with a faint smirk. "It's just that her personality stands out. The way she writes, the way she speaks—it's impossible to get bored. She's unpredictable in a weirdly charming way."

"I see…" Kiara's voice was soft, but something simmered beneath the surface. Her gaze didn't leave him. "So, you like unpredictable women."

Mikael let out a short laugh, leaning back slightly. "If that was meant to make me nervous, you'll have to try harder." He paused, letting the silence stretch for a moment before adding, "Besides, I already have an unpredictable woman right in front of me. This Carefree Immortal might be chaotic on paper, but you? You're something else entirely."

The slight tension in the room dissolved almost immediately, the harp's melody smoothing out into a harmonious rhythm once more. A smile slowly curved Kiara's lips, one that held equal parts satisfaction and possessiveness.

"Good answer," she said, her tone sweet—but beneath it, a quiet warning always lurked, like velvet hiding a blade.

Mikael let out another low chuckle, then turned his gaze back to the closed book resting on his lap. His fingers lightly traced its cover as his thoughts stirred with everything he had just learned. But he didn't have much time to reflect, as Amelia—who had been silently watching the exchange between her man and the ever-possessive yandere—suddenly spoke up.
