Chapter 187 Preparation and Departure
A massive ring stood upright on a round platform, with electrical cables of different thicknesses connected to it. It was unclear whether they were for power supply or something else.
"Complete!"
Valeria opened her arms wide, like an actor making a grand entrance.
"This is impossible..."
Peter muttered to himself from the side, as if he had received a serious blow.
"Too bad we didn't have more time. I could only make this big, clunky thing." Valeria puffed out her chest, seemingly happy to have gotten one over on Peter.
"If we had more time, I would have preferred to make it smaller, more portable."
"Can it be used now?" George clearly didn't care about those details. He only cared if this instrument could be used to see his daughter.
"Of course," Valeria said. "As long as there's enough energy."
"Then what are we waiting for?" George looked around at everyone, clearly impatient.
"Hold on, George," Yang Le stopped George. "Do you really want to fight monsters in just shirts? You need equipment."
Yang Le pointed to an instrument in the corner and said, "That one is the 'Weaving Machine' I made for Gwen, also known as a battle suit manufacturing machine. You can use it to create a set of custom-fit armor for yourselves."
This Weaving Machine was originally Gwen's prized possession. Since its creation, Gwen would make a new battle suit every so often, though she only made minor changes each time. Yang Le wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't paid close attention.
Later, 'Snowball''s birth rendered her previous battle suits unusable. They could only be hung in the display cabinet for display. However, this machine wasn't scrapped. After all, it could still sew ordinary clothes, and the quality was even better than luxury items on the market, with customizable modifications.
"You can design them to your liking." Yang Le pointed to the wall again. The wall unfolded, revealing a hidden compartment with many weapons hanging inside.
"Those are things I made in my free time. You can choose some handy guys."
George and the others looked at everything in front of them in shock. George couldn't help but ask, "Yang Le, who exactly are you?"
"That's what I was about to explain," Yang Le said seriously. "Since everyone's here and involved in this incident, I'll lay it all out for you."
"Actually, I'm not a native of this universe. I come from other universes, but due to some special circumstances, I ended up staying in this universe."
"Does Gwen know?" George asked.
"I told her everything a long time ago. After she got her superpower, I was the first person she told. I guess you could say I'm her mentor?" Yang Le replied.
George couldn't help but feel a bit down hearing this. When his daughter was in trouble, the first person she turned to wasn't her father, but some outsider kid. Could he consider himself a failed father?
"What are you waiting for?" Yang Le looked at the dumbfounded crowd, waving his hands to urge them. "Hurry up and get equipped. Franklin, you know how to use the Weaving Machine, right? Help George and the others operate it."
Franklin gave an OK sign. Even if he'd never used it before, he could figure out how to operate it quickly.
Hearing Yang Le say this, everyone snapped out of it and looked at each other, considering their choices to avoid wasting time.
Seeing this, George took the lead and walked towards the Weaving Machine. On the way, he was thinking of just getting a set of clothes casually, as long as the quality was decent. But then he saw Gwen's old battle suits in the display cabinet.
Looking at those uniform black and white battle suits, George had an idea and approached the Weaving Machine.
"Any ideas?" Franklin asked.
"I do have some ideas," George said with a smile.
Under George's direction, Franklin input his requirements. The Weaving Machine was highly efficient. In less than a minute, a battle suit was created.
"Try it on," Franklin pointed to the back of the machine, indicating the changing room.
George readily accepted, took the newly made battle suit, and headed to the back of the machine. If Valeria hadn't been there, he might have changed clothes right there, but since they were present, he was more considerate.
George quickly changed into the battle suit and emerged from behind the machine. His battle suit was also black and white, clearly inspired by Gwen's design, with a hood and a Spider logo, making them look like a matching set.
Spider-George made a dazzling debut.
"Cool!" Peter, who loved hero comics, was immediately captivated. He pulled Harry aside and said, "Let's get the same design. We'll look like a super team."
"Sounds great," Harry readily agreed.
"Looking good, Super Dad," Franklin said with a smile.
"Go weave your clothes, little tailor," George replied with a smile, then gestured for the next person, Frank, to step up.
Yang Le saw that everything was proceeding smoothly and didn't remain idle. He began explaining the cause and effect of the current situation to everyone.
"You don't need to worry about Gwen's safety for now. If you weren't mistaken, the group who rescued her were Spider-Men from other parallel universes. This crisis involves all parallel universes, which is why they've gathered together."
"The ones who initiated this crisis, the Inheritors, are hunting Spider-Men from all parallel universes because of a prophecy: Spider-Men will kill the Inheritors."
"Wait, I have a problem," Peter looked up, shifting his attention from the Weaving Machine. "Isn't it possible that if the Inheritors don't hunt Spider-Men, Spider-Men won't kill them? Isn't that a closed loop? That prophecy sounds ridiculous."
"Who knows?" Yang Le shrugged. "Maybe those magical side guys are too blindly trusting of these mystical things. Anyway, they've launched a hunt for all Spider-Men."
"As for how they can pinpoint Spider-Men, it's because they kidnapped the Spider-God—the Great Weaver, the source of strength for all Spider-Men, including you, George."
"Wait a minute!" Peter interrupted Yang Le's explanation again. "George's strength comes from the spider serum I developed."
"I'm sorry, Peter," Yang Le said. "But that's the rule. The source of strength for all Spider-Men is the Spider Totem, and the Great Weaver chooses who can inherit this energy."
"This..." Peter looked incredible. His worldview had been shaken once again.
"Stop thinking about that stuff," George slapped Peter on the head, pulling him out of his thoughts. "So, basically, we just need to beat up the Inheritors, right?"
"Exactly," Yang Le nodded.
"Then stop wasting time," George cracked his neck and stretched his limbs. "We can discuss the rest on the way. Peter and the others' battle suits are ready. I can't wait to kick their butts. It's time they experienced the rage of Super Dad."
