Cherreads

Chapter 14 - 14 excluded

"Alright, I got it. Thank you, Aunt. And thanks to my Uncle for the trouble."

"No need for thanks." The girl is quite pleasant to talk to.

The next morning, Yuanyuan went to the village stone mill carrying half a sack of corn kernels.

She came at the wrong time, coincidentally arriving when someone else was grinding corn.

It seemed like there were quite a few people involved, definitely not a one-person job.

No choice but to line up. She could go without eating, but the sheep were waiting.

A few women saw the little girl waiting in line, but showed no sign of speaking to her. They continued chatting among themselves.

Everyone knew the girl had caught a Wild Boar and sold it for over sixty yuan, but before anyone could ask for a loan, she had already borrowed money to buy a sheep.

Some people were just bullying her for being a little girl, trying to take advantage.

They didn't get the benefit they wanted, so naturally they were unhappy.

But now it's all nonsense, as there's no money left.

"Changsheng's wife, how's your little pig doing?"

"Doing okay, but nobody wants to buy it right now; they're all waiting till after the year. Our pigsty's too small to raise them, it's really worrying."

"How big is the little pig now?"

"Around ten kilograms."

Yuanyuan listened, considering maybe she could buy a little pig too.

But it wasn't the time to decide yet. With no pigsty available, and these people didn't seem like good company. Better to stay out of it.

She wanted to avoid them, but they needed to be willing too.

"Su Yuanyuan, I heard you caught a Wild Boar?"

Actually, they didn't believe it. A skinny little girl like this—let alone a Wild Boar—she couldn't even catch a wild rabbit.

Yuanyuan kept her head down, not wanting to respond to them. She didn't want to spoil her mood.

"Are you deaf? I'm talking to you."

Yuanyuan lowered her head even more, ignoring them, letting them say whatever they wanted.

"Forget it, don't bother with her. Her parents have given up on her, she's definitely bad luck, don't get involved."

Yuanyuan coldly smiled to herself; if she had this kind of skill, she'd bring misfortune to them.

As soon as she thought that, she saw the malicious woman suddenly get her hand stuck in the stone mill.

Actually, it was quite a coincidence. She was cleaning up the milled cornmeal, but her hand got caught.

Yuanyuan heard a scream more agonizing than a pig getting slaughtered.

"Stop it, hurry and stop it."

Several onlookers hurried over.

"Don't move, my hand's broken. Quickly lift it up, lift up the stone mill."

Yuanyuan stood dumbfounded, wondering if this was her new skill. Could this really be possible? Could her wishes come true?

Yuanyuan grew more excited, thinking whether to try it again. But Xiang Jun's wife was already quite miserable.

The group worked together to lift the stone mill, freeing Xiang Jun's wife's hand.

"I feel like my fingers are broken." Quite an age for such sobbing and sniffling; seeing this made Yuanyuan feel disgusted.

No, she needed to leave. Today she wouldn't be using the stone mill.

"Xiang Jun's wife, go home and wrap it with pot ash."

"It's so painful, the kind that pierces the heart."

Yuanyuan picked up her sack and wanted to leave.

"It's that little bitch. It's her fault."

Yuanyuan coldly laughed to herself. Serves you right, she thought, pitying her earlier was a mistake.

"Little bitch, you'll pay for this." She charged at Yuanyuan, trying to grab her.

Yuanyuan had no parents, everyone knew she was being bullied, but no one stood up for her.

Not even bothering to turn around, Yuanyuan thought of testing her new skill again, hoping for her to break her front teeth out of spite.

Just a few meters away, Xiang Jun's wife barely got anywhere before she suddenly fell face-flat to the ground.

An agonized scream echoing again, a few people rushed over to lift her up.

There was terror now, as everyone saw her face covered in blood, her lips flipped over, blood flowing from the corner of her mouth.

She opened her mouth, and several teeth fell out.

Everyone exchanged looks; the fall didn't seem severe, so why was it so bad?

Yuanyuan cheered inside, realizing this was really her new skill. Haha, served them right for bullying her.

Yuanyuan turned around, coldly watching the commotion.

An elder nearby figured it out. This was the mouth of Xiang Jun's wife, the cause of such karma.

Yuanyuan watched a few people still surrounding Xiang Jun's wife, then turned away, carrying her sack.

This had nothing to do with her. She'd seen enough of the drama and sorted out her new skill. Excellent, just didn't know if there'd be any harm.

Two people took Xiang Jun's wife back, leaving only a few older villagers.

"Do you think Su Family's girl is up to some mischief? Xiang Jun's wife only started having trouble after cursing her."

"Yes, yes, now you mention it, it really seems that way."

"We should watch our words in the future; the girl seems to harbor evil."

Back home, Yuanyuan started arranging the wood shed, moving the thicker logs to the yard to chop with an axe, otherwise, they wouldn't burn.

Taking her time casually, she occasionally chatted with the sheep lounging in the sun in the yard.

It was almost noon as the sun hung high, time for lunch. Just as she thought of carrying the chopped logs inside, she saw a group of people coming over.

Disregarding them, she bent over to continue organizing.

Yet, they directly barged in.

Yuanyuan straightened up, squinting at the entering crowd, only then recognizing Xiang Jun's family.

Now Yuanyuan knew what was going on. They were here to cause trouble.

Bending down, she grabbed the axe, staring at the intruders.

"What are you doing at my place?"

"Little bitch, you've broken Chunhong's hand. Her front teeth are also broken. Of course, we're here for compensation."

"Leave my house immediately."

"Little bitch, you're quite a cocky one."

"This is the second time."

"What second time? I'm telling you, cough up fifty bucks, even a cent less and I'll kill you, little bitch."

No expression on Yuanyuan's face, yet suddenly she moved, swinging the axe at Xiang Jun's mother who had spoken.

It struck her arm. She wore a padded jacket, otherwise, there'd be immediate blood.

But it hurt nonetheless. Xiang Jun's mother felt her arm almost snap.

Yuanyuan remained silent, swung the axe again, targeting the same arm.

Terrified, the old woman dodged backwards, narrowly escaping.
