"Tsunade-sensei, what's today's mission?"
After some time, the three members of Team Tsunade no longer held any hope of getting easy and simple missions. It was like dreaming! All sorts of transitional D-rank missions, each one more deceptive than the last. To this, Rinsu could only say:
'My life has never been glorious; I've always been stuck in a pit!'
"Don't worry, this mission is very easy, and quite leisurely."
Squad missions were divided into two types: either the teacher could take the students to the Hokage's office to pick them up, or she could decide herself. For Tsunade, going to the Hokage's office to choose a mission was simply out of the question! In short, 'I'm the one who decides.'
"First, I want to congratulate you. The annoying D-rank missions are over. From today onwards, you'll be able to do some interesting missions, like today's mission."
Tsunade spoke with relish, but unfortunately, the three members of Team Tsunade weren't very enthusiastic. Because in the past two months, Tsunade had said this many times, but each mission was still the same old routine, just a different flavor of the same dish.
None of the three showed any excitement, even seeming somewhat indifferent. Tsunade smiled triumphantly in her heart. Generally, at the beginning, squad leaders would take their students on various D-rank missions to temper their sharpness before gradually changing missions. As for when they would change, it depended on the teacher's standard of approval.
Among those who graduated at the same time, everyone else was already doing missions outside the village. Only Team Tsunade was continuously repeating various transitional missions. This made Rinsu and his two teammates feel stifled.
Two months!! Not two days, nor two hours!
Even Rinsu found it hard to bear, let alone Shino and Haruyu. If they weren't afraid of Tsunade exploding, they would have given up long ago.
"Today's mission is an escort mission. It's a C-rank mission, and one of the more difficult C-rank missions, usually performed by Chunin. But since your teacher is me, you get to take on such a mission."
Tsunade wore an expression that seemed to say, 'You guys are taking advantage of me,' which piqued the interest of Rinsu and his two teammates. An escort mission?
Escort missions came in many types. Some only required escorting a person, while others involved following a convoy to protect it from attack, ensuring the safe arrival of goods at their destination. Some involved escorting documents, and so on. Among these, escorting people was the most troublesome, escorting goods was the slowest, and following a convoy was the most prone to attack.
"Tsunade-sensei, what kind of mission is it?"
The first to ask was still Haruyu.
"Someone bought a batch of supplies from the village to be delivered to the Land of Wind. We will follow the convoy to the Land of Wind, the country of sand. Isn't that interesting?"
'Kids are kids, hmph hmph,' Tsunade hummed inwardly, seeing the three members of Team Tsunade fall for it.
"Alright, you have half an hour to prepare your belongings. Meet at the village gate."
With a sweep of her hand, Tsunade announced their dismissal.
"That's great! I must bring lots of things!!"
Haruyu bounced up high in excitement like a puppy, happily pulling Shino and running off.
"Don't you need to bring anything?"
Seeing that Rinsu had no intention of going back, Tsunade was quite surprised. Usually, newcomers who had been stifled for a few months would be as excited and happy as Haruyu when starting a C-rank mission. But Rinsu seemed unchanged.
"I've brought enough food, and enough ninja tools. I don't need anything else." Rinsu answered truthfully. As for clothes, who would carry a pile of clothes and random things when on a mission?
"Interesting kid."
Tsunade smiled. In fact, most of the time, Tsunade was quite easy to talk to, as long as you didn't deliberately provoke her or bother her when she was in a bad mood. Normally, Tsunade's personality was a bit carefree, and a little eccentric.
"By the way, have you ever harbored resentment towards the Uchiha or Hyuga clans?"
Tsunade had wanted to ask this question for a long time but had held back. She only found a suitable opportunity today. Usually, Haruyu and Shino were nearby, making it difficult to speak directly as it involved too many sensitive issues.
Rinsu was slightly stunned, then smiled. "I've never cared, so where would the resentment come from? The path of a commoner ninja is harder than that of a ninja from a great clan, but with Orochimaru and Minato Namikaze as examples, does it make any difference whether one is from a great clan?"
"You, brat, really dare to make comparisons."
Tsunade couldn't help but chuckle. If an ordinary person said this, Tsunade might think they were overestimating themselves. The achievements of Orochimaru and Minato Namikaze were beyond what ordinary people could imagine. Daring to compare oneself to them was not something an ordinary person could do.
However, Tsunade didn't know that in Rinsu's heart, he never compared himself to Minato Namikaze or Orochimaru, because there was no need. If he were to make comparisons, it would be to someone even higher, not them.
One could imagine how high Rinsu's Sharingan and Byakugan would reach in the future without upgrade limitations, not to mention another more special bloodline limit that hadn't awakened yet. Rinsu never believed himself to be inferior to Minato Namikaze or Orochimaru.
However, mentioning the two of them inevitably brought up the subsequent Third Great Ninja War, and the struggle for the Hokage position between Minato Namikaze and Orochimaru. Minato Namikaze had the support of the Third Hokage, while Orochimaru had the covert support of Konoha's Danzo.
'I wonder if history will still unfold as in the original?'
Compared to Orochimaru and Minato Namikaze, Rinsu only lacked training and time, so such comparisons were meaningless.
Thinking of this, Rinsu felt somewhat fortunate. It was a good thing he had removed the upgrade limitations for the Byakugan and Sharingan back then, otherwise it would have been quite troublesome.
Both the Byakugan and Sharingan were difficult to upgrade. From Mangekyo to Eternal Mangekyo was a huge hurdle! Rinsu couldn't find a brother with a Mangekyo to transplant eyes from, let alone the fact that upgrading Eternal Mangekyo to Rinnegan required the fusion of Indra and Asura's chakra.
As for the difficulty of upgrading the Byakugan to the Tenseigan, it was probably not much less than the Rinnegan's—the moon.
Subconsciously, Rinsu looked up at the sky. Unfortunately, the sky was clear and cloudless; he couldn't see the moon at all.
How would the bloodline limit that controlled time awaken? This was where Rinsu was currently most puzzled. If this bloodline limit awakened, controlling time, would it mean he would become an ageless and immortal monster?
Rinsu was very much looking forward to this.
Seeing Rinsu only smile and not speak, Tsunade frowned, her beautiful eyes filled with doubt. 'Could it be that this kid is so confident in himself that I should give him a push?'
From the bottom of her heart, Tsunade hoped that Rinsu's growth could surpass Minato Namikaze's. That way, she could really rub it in Jiraiya's face, and it would also benefit the village.
