The sky lit up as lightening struck, mirroring the palpitations in my heart. The sounds of thunder resounded across the room and I shut my eyes tightly.
You're awake," I called.
I glanced at the dead body outside from the corner of my eyes, and back at Damon.
"Mom," his voice was soft, as he stared out the window.
I paused when I saw his face and moved closer to him. He collapsed on the floor, his hend clutching his chest, eyes empty and dull.
"Damon, what's wrong?" I asked, holding him in my arms.
"She..." a tear slid down his cheek.
"She's gone," his voice was hollow.
He remembered.
I wrapped him tighter in my arms and hugged him. His sobs tore gently at my heart, his tears staining my white shirt, but I didn't mind.
"She's dead, Mia," he cried.
"I'm sorry," I said softly, hugging him tighter.
"I'm so sorry, Damon."
Tara closed the curtain, so he wouldn't see the body and glanced at us with a sad look on her face.
